Have you ever heard of Pokémon Go? Well, you are about to read about one of
the hippest and interactive games of the summer. Also, not to mention the stupidest
and the most dangerous game of the summer. So, if you see your counselor frantically
swiping their screens…you know it's nothing important.
First, let me explain the "game" so your avatar walks around trying to find
Pokémon… and that’s it. There no real point to the game besides you walking around
trying to find the Pokémon. The only upside to this game is that it's getting kids/adult
gamers (@ Mr. Giacomini) outside. The downside is that people are too busy catching
Pokémon instead of paying attention to their surroundings. For example, there was just
a story in the news about a 21-year-old guy riding around on his skateboard trying to
catch Pokémon. Sadly, he was not paying attention and he fell off his skateboard and got
a huge scrape on his leg. Some people say he should blame the application. But, in my
opinion, I think that the guy should not be skateboarding and trying to catch a wild Paras
(a character in the application). According to the New York Post, the skateboarder said,
“I just wanted to be able to stop quickly if there were any Pokémon's nearby to catch,”
he says. “I don’t think the company is really at fault.”
In conclusion, this game has its ups and downs, but who am I to tell you if you
should like the game or not? Play the game for yourself and decide if you like it.

We were three weeks into the 2015 Gow School Summer
Program and the Ewoks were winning in the color wars. There was
no way the Munchkins could win. They needed a miracle. Luckily,
there was a human miracle right on The Gow School property. His
undercover name was Ron C. He was born on a planet far, far away
named Krypton. At the very moment when he realized the munchkins needed a hero he said,
"It is time to save the day."
He ran to Mr. Fisher and said,
"Put me in coach"
Ron went down to the lower forty and made a miracle so
astonishing that we aren’t supposed to talk about it (especially in
academics). Magic came out of his hands and eyes in the form of
rainbows representing every color from the color wars of the past.
The next thing I knew The Amazing Ron was levitating in the air. It
was so amazing that Ron became the new leader of color
wars. Ron was planning on going back to outer space to look for his
family, but he discovered a new family right here on Gow.
Next weekend GOW is going to Ohio to visit CedarPoint amusement park. CedarPoint
amusement park consists mainly of rollercoasters and water rides. They have eighteen rollercoaster rides and two water rides. It is recommended that people wear a swim suit to the
park. On Friday, it will be 88 degrees Fahrenheit with a likely chance of rain and thunderstorms.
On Saturday, it will be 80 degrees Fahrenheit with the day being mostly cloudy. If someone gets
motion sickness really easily, I recommend doing the water rides because it's a lot of fun and a
good way to cool down. Both rides go at least 40 miles per hour, so it's fast enough for everyone
and people won't get sick as quickly. I also recommend the adventurous type to go on the Corkscrew which is one of the faster rides at the park. I hope that everyone has fun on these rides and
enjoys Cedar Point!
Re-Cap of the Weekend Trip
We had hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, we had bagels
and Poptarts. I was special because I got three hamburgers and everyone else got two. I'm
special. And over the weekend Ryan the counselor had an injury with his face so he will not
be back for a while until his face heals. Students had the option to go swimming but some
people did not go because they didn’t have swim stuff. We also fished because some kids built
fishing poles in arts and craft so they got to fish. Other than swimming and fishing, all we did
was chill at the campfire (which got boring fast). That was our weekend trip to Letchworth in
a nutshell.
Some people say they have seen ghosts, but is it true? Some believe that ghosts are real but
some think it is fantasy. Ghosts want to be noticed, and sometimes they don’t know they are dead.
They can smell things and they love the smell of lemons. Some ghosts have a sense of humor and
others love to hear humans laugh. Ghosts love to scare and love the sound of crying from fearful
humans they scare. All ghosts don’t sleep because they prank humans in their sleep. If someone is
being haunted, just tell the ghosts to leave nicely. Say something like,
"I know you’re here and can you please leave?"
Children have become closer with "imagery friends" and the truth is that they are friends with
ghost kids. Ghosts like themselves to get noticed and grab peoples' attention. It is believed that
ghosts and spirits become more active during night time. When you're sleeping make sure you're
not being dragged by the foot to a different room you never saw.
THIS WEEK’S QUESTIONS:
Question: Some boys are so annoying and they keep being mean to other people. If I do help
them I am scared the boys will be mean to me. How can I help the kids when I don’t want to get
into their problems?
Girllllllllll, boys are just weird. Like, I knew this one guy and he was mean but I didn’t let him get to me.
Stick to those positive vibes. If you do try to help, please understand that guys are too prideful to share
their feelings. They like to be seen as the Original Gangstas. If you want to help the kids out with their
problems, talk about things that might distract them because once they're distracted they forget about
what they were thinking!
Question: I want to play Pokemon Go, but I am too embarrassed to play in public because I do not
want people to think I’m a nerd. What should I do?
Dear Embarrassed,
Some kids like Pokemon Go, and you don’t have to be ashamed that you’re the only one playing
Pokemon Go. Who cares if you are called a nerd? Nerds are cool and they know more than other
people. Some people might tease you but you should just ignore them. If people ask you why you're
playing Pokemon Go tell them, "I am playing it because I want to and I am proud playing it."
