He oversees all marketing and merchandising, and is involvemed with general management. His prior experience includes Sales, Store Management, Regional Vice President of Sales and Senior Vice President of Stores. He is President of Florida Furniture Dealers Association, President of the National Home Furnishings Association, and Chairman of Retail Home Furnishings Association. GRETCHEN BLOUSE Marketing Media Manager Bealls Florida Department Stores Gretchen Blouse manages all media placement for TV, radio and print for Bealls Stores. She also tracks and forecasts the marketing budget, reporting to the CMO and Finance. She has been with Bealls Stores for 14 years, starting in the Dress Buying office. She has worked in several different departments, gaining a broad knowledge of Bealls and Florida retail. His team works with retailers to develop custom shopper marketing programs. His prior experience includes serving as Account Executive, FSI Division at Valassis Communications; and Account Executive at Campbell Sales (Soup) Company - Kroger Team. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS in Marketing at Moorhead State University. RICH BRANCH Director of Media Sports Authority Rich Branch is a retail marketing and advertising executive with over 20 years of experience. In his role at Sports Authority, Mr. Branch oversees all print and broadcast advertising as well as sponsorships including professional sports teams, high school athletic associations, national governing bodies and more. While at Sports Authority, Mr. Branch has developed direct relationships with many of the largest media companies in the country and worked with them in the development of new programs. Prior to Sports Authority, Branch was the VP of Marketing for 3 Day Blinds, a national retailer of custom window coverings. Prior to that, as the VP and then SVP of Marketing & Advertising for Mattress Discounters, Rich was a key member of the executive leadership team that enabled the company to grow from a regional mattress retailer into the largest mattress retailer in the country. In his role there, Rich oversaw all marketing & advertising functions and launched numerous programs which fueled the profitable, successful growth of the company. KAREN FILIPS Director of Marketing Operations & Media Bealls Florida Department Stores Karen Filips oversees all print production, media placement for TV, radio and print; special event promotions; graphics; in-store signage; and in-house pre-media for Bealls Department Stores. She has worked with Bealls Department Stores for 27 years. She started in the stores as a sales associate, worked in store management, then transferred into marketing. KATHY HEATLEY Vice President Media Director Local Marketplaces Starcom Worldwide (a division of Publicis Worldwide) Ms. Heatley has spent 19 years of her over 25-year purchasing career working with the local media marketplace to provide creative, unique, and competitively priced solutions to customers in broad categories of business. Beginning her media career at Valassis, she bought and managed newspaper expenditures for 10 years. As VP, Media Director Local Marketplaces for print, digital and mobile, she establishes new contractual standards of accountability, manages flexible agreements for clients with publishers, and capitalizes on pricing fluency across platforms and marketplaces to garner efficiencies. Heatley oversees expenditures valued over $200 million annually for a broad range of clients including Best Buy, Bank of America, and Samsung. Ms. Heatley is a graduate of Michigan State University and lives in Brighton, MI. She sits on the Board of Directors for Certified Audit of Circulation. MARSHA LAWRENCE Director, Media Investment Novus Media Inc. Marsha Lawrence leads the media investment team responsible for negotiations with thousands of publications utilized by Walmart to support their insert, ROP and Grand Opening programs. Prior to joining Novus, Lawrence was employed by Best Buy Co, Inc. During her 17 years at Best Buy, she was responsible for the team that analyzed and negotiated with over 800 newspapers. More recently, she managed all Grand Opening marketing and worked with retail leaders to support local and regional marketing efforts. Throughout her career, Lawrence has been actively involved with the newspaper industry, serving on numerous bi-partisan committees and as a member and past President of the CAC board of directors. She is a native of Minnesota. MIKE LENNON Sr. Vice President of Marketing City Furniture Mike Lennon has been with City Furniture for over 35 years. Since its beginnings in 1971 as Waterbed City, the company transformed itself from a waterbed specialty chain to a full line furniture store in 1994. City Furniture today operates 16 City Furniture stores, 11 Ashley Furniture HomeStores and Kevin Charles, an upholstery manufacturing company in New Albany, Mississippi. The Marketing Department is responsible for marketing, advertising, product development, merchandising, supply chain, logistics, and quality for the company. CAROL MAZZA Vice President Advertising and Brand Bi-Lo Holdings, LLC Carol Mazza oversees all advertising for the WinnDixie, Bi-Lo and Harveys banners, including creative, production, media strategy and execution, and in-store presentation. She has previously served as Vice President of Marketing for Value City Dept Stores; Director of Brand Marketing for Garden Ridge; and Senior Marketing Manager for Uptons. She had prior roles in advertising and broadcast production with Jordan Marsh, Burdines and Mervyns. Mazza holds a BS in Advertising from the University of Florida. TIM RODRIGUEZ Divisional President NSA Media Throughout his 16 years at NSA Media, Tim Rodriguez has worked with a variety of clients including Sears, The Home Depot, CVS, Michaels, Walgreens, Coldwell Banker and many more. He also leads the company’s MagNet Media division, serving agency partners and clients like Sony, Chrysler, ALDI, Merck and others. Prior to his current position, he worked in the newspaper industry for 20 years with Gannett, McClatchy and Lee Enterprises. Rodriguez is a graduate of Brigham Young University. KARLI SIKICH Director, Corporate Communications, ACGMedia Karli Sikich is responsible for continuing to build the ACGMedia brand in the market and developing internal and external campaigns that reinforce the vision of the company. She leads the onboarding of new clients, assuring that their programs are created and launched effectively. Additionally, she works with external media partners who play an integral role in the success of client programs. Prior to joining ACGMedia, Sikich worked as an Account Executive in the corporate office of Hollinger International Inc., parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times, The London Telegraph, and over 100 Canadian publications. In 2000, she was recruited to open the Chicago Sun-Times western sales office in Los Angeles. Over her career, Sikich has managed clients across multiple national and retail categories including Sprint PCS, JCPenney, Safeway and Honda. She holds a BA in English Literature from the University of British Columbia. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Sikich now resides in Los Angeles. MATT SPAHN Founder, President & CEO, Planitretail Matt Spahn leads Planitretail, a marketing services agency with client experience that includes RadioShack, Winn Dixie, BI-LO, Harveys, Sports Authority, Amazon and clients in the agency, media and private equity sectors. He is a Fortune 50 and start-up marketing and media executive with broad experience across all three sides of the business; Fortune 50 advertiser, agency principal and media company officer. Mr. Spahn’s experience includes being a part of successfully building and selling two different companies. His significant retailer experience includes 14 years at Sears, where he led all media planning, print media buying and marketing budgets for all brands and business formats, including Craftsman, Kenmore, Die Hard, Land’s End and other blue chip brands. ALEXANDRA VILLOCH President & Publisher, Miami Herald Media Company Alexandra (Alex) Villoch is responsible for both the Miami Herald and the Spanish-language el Nuevo Herald newspapers and their print and digital products. Villoch had previously served as Senior Vice President for Advertising and Marketing since 2005. Villoch is a past-Chair of The Beacon Council; Chair Emeritus of the One Community, One Goal Initiative of The Beacon Council; and member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Villoch was honored with the 2012 International Economic Development Council’s Citizen Leadership Award.
