Winter Concert Series
Happy 2016! In 1966, what was then
“Ellenville Public Library” applied to New York
State to change its existing charter; Ellenville
Public Library and Museum was created,
reflecting the institution’s commitment to our
community’s history.
A Museum Advisory Board (MAB) was
subsequently created by the Board of Trustees.
MAB is charged with advising the library board
and director on matters relating to museum
operation, such as collection management,
hours and services. MAB is composed of four
community members, as well as a liaison from
the Board of Trustees.
We hope that you’ll join us throughout
2016 as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our
museum with “Making History” a series of
special events and programs. We look forward
to seeing you at your public library & museum!

January 24, 2:00pm: Winter Concert
Local musician Eric Aweh performs classical Saxophone in
a concert that will warm away the winter blues, with special
guest artists.
February 14, 2:00pm: Valentine’s Day Concert
The Newburgh Chamber Music Players perform a variety of
works from the Renaissance, Classical Romantic and Modern
repertoire, showcasing the Oboe and Strings together.
March 20, 2:00pm: St Patrick’s Day Concert
Fiddle champion Dylan Foley returns with friends
for (mostly) Irish song, dance and fantastic fiddling!
State Historic Preservation Office to visit Ellenville
2016 marks two significant anniversaries; the National
Historic Preservation Act of 1966, and the formalization of
EPL&M’s local history museum. To commemorate these occasions and celebrate our community’s heritage, EPL&M’s Museum
Advisory Board and the Joint Historic Preservation Commission of
Ellenville and Wawarsing have invited representatives from the
New York State Historic Preservation Office to present a workshop
on Tuesday, March 1 at 10am on their extensive
resources and services, including historic registration and tax credits. The program is open to
municipal leaders, historians and the general
public. Pictured is the Ellenville Post Office,

Help a neighbor for Valentine’s Day!
FINES FOR FOOD WEEK
FEBRUARY 13-20, 2016
EPL&M will donate all fines collected during Valentine’s
week to a local food pantry.
INCOME TAX HELP
Certified AARP Tax Aides will be at EPL&M to help
prepare and e-file income tax returns on the following dates:
Saturday, February 20; March 5, 19; and April 2. To make an
appointment, call (845)255-0791 after February 1, 2016.
Defensive Driving Classes
Saturday, January 30, 9am-3pm, or March 26, 9am-3pm
Save 10% on auto insurance, reduce ticket points and
be a better driver! Taught by Betty Kranz, Defensive Driving
Instructor for the State of New York. There is a $30.00 fee,
payable to Betty Kranz the day of the workshop. Registration

To apply for a Library Card at
Ellenville Public Library & Museum,
you must live in the Ellenville School
District, or the Towns of Wawarsing or
Rochester and be able to verify permanent residency
with acceptable documents. These include: voter registration, driver’s license, two utility bills, report card
or identification with current address and date. For a
child to get a card, a parent or guardian must have a
library card and agree to be responsible for the materials the child borrows. Please call (845)647-5530
