Introducing The Terminator™
SportsEdge® is proud to announce the release of the TERMINATOR™ System, the next generation of drainage design for synthetic turf athletic fields. Unlike other edge or sheet drain installations or traditional stone base designs, the Terminator™ System creates a completely self-contained, engineered surface drainage envelope that will capture of ALL of the storm water on a
synthetic turf field, with or without a track.
This “base in a box” concept is the natural outgrowth
of track drain systems and is based on the time-tested
SportsEdge XT-4 Track Drain. But the TERMINATOR™
goes a step further in the evolution of synthetic turf
drainage. It replaces the site- built dynamic stone base
and collector pipe sub-surface designs with a shallow,
serviceable surface drainage product.
Two major components make up the TERMINATOR; a
drainage/shock pad and an edge collector. The SportsEdge Drain-X™ Pad is made of virgin re-purposed
polyethylene and provides not only outstanding drainage characteristics, but excellent biomechanical performance as well. The current research and trends in
player safety support the use of shock pads under infill
turf fields. Tests show that the best performing “tuned” fields
are built with a combination of the right infill and a high-performance shock pad like Drain-X.
The XT-8 Collector is made from a polymer concrete riser and an
8” schedule 40 PVC pipe, factory assembled in one-meter sections. XT-8 features include a traditional track slot drain, separate field drain orifices and a tuck slot for the carpet…all in one
convenient and easily installed product.
Here’s how it works: Rainwater that passes through the turf
enters the drainage/shock pad which is laid over an impervious
liner. The porous mat transfers the water to the drainage channels on the underside of the pad. (Continued on page 2)

Michael Hartness

division of ABT. Michael’s ability to
excel in everything
he does quickly earned him the Inside Sales
Manager position.
Michael handles everything from overseeing
the inside sales staff, project bids, manufacturing issues, inventory control and customer service. SportsEdge is committed to taking care
of our customer’s, and Michael is the very best
at insuring responsiveness and the excellence
in customer service.
Michael and his wife Amy reside in Statesville,
NC with two children Austin and Breanna.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys hunting, target shooting, fishing, golf and spending time
with his family.

These channels are oriented down the cross slope
toward the sidelines, where it drains directly into the
XT-8 collector. The 8” PVC pipe carries the water to the
catch basins where it can be directed to storage, infiltration, treatment or disposal from the site.
Poorly draining soil conditions and high water tables
are no challenge for the TERMINATOR. All storm
water collection takes place near the field surface. Well
draining fields can now be built on sites with mixed
sub-grade soil types, expansive soils, high water tables…..without the cost of stripping and replacing
materials.
TERMINATOR™ components have been extensively
lab tested for vertical and lateral drainage transmisivity,
inflow capacity, system floatation, shock attenuation,
energy restitution, Gmax and HIC. Studies show that
TERMINATOR compares very favorably with the cost of
traditional sub-surface systems. Test results are available upon request.
