Windsor Smith Catalog Spring 2015

Windsor Smith, founder and creator of Windsor Smith Home, is known as an innovative
force in the design industry, rethinking conventions of traditional home design to meet
today’s demanding lifestyles. A favorite of shelter editors and design bloggers alike,
Windsor’s clients include influential leaders in the entertainment and business worlds
who gravitate to her focus on design as a tool to set families up for success in their
own homes.
In her debut collection for Arteriors, Windsor pares down and recasts motifs of classical
architecture in a spare new way. Applying her signature flair for matching iconic styles
across a wide timeline, she describes the story of this timeless collection as Renaissance
girl meets urban boy. That is, lovely and luxurious, yet up-to-date.
Honored by “Veranda” Magazine as one of the top twenty-five design influencers,
Windsor lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons. Her first book, Homefront:
Design for Modern Living, is published by Rizzoli.

The Thea Lamp is an example pairing sharp geometrics—abstracted from a Greek key motif—with gently
curved, smooth-to-the-touch marble.”

“The Mercury Sconce is one of those designs that I created for
myself, and for my clients’ lighting needs. Truly “mercurial”, it allows
for a changeable light source by pivoting up, down, or side to side
depending on how you hang it. Finished in high-polished nickel, its
essence is classically simple and completely modern. Perfect in a
stairway to light steps, perfect in a hallway to light walls, perfect in a
library over a painting. Perfect in so many practical ways.”
“The Crete Lamp is a simplified play on Greco-Roman laurel wreaths.
I love its vintage silver finish with a modern soft gray oval shade as the
perfect balance between old and new. I imagine it used in pairs, bedside
in a little girl’s room, or as I chose to place it, as a lit sculpture on my
kitchen counter.”
