Day 1, Saturday
Today it’s “Westward Ho” as we travel
the highways to the Fargo, ND, area.
Day 2, Sunday
Mid-afternoon we stop at Painted
Canyon Overlook which gives us a
panoramic view of the North Dakota
Badlands. Soon we arrive in historic
Medora, ND, for our overnight
accommodations. This evening we
savor the Old West with a traditional
Pitchfork Steak Fondue Dinner prior
to enjoying the Medora Musical with
comedy, music and special acts in a
tribute to Theodore Roosevelt. B, D
Day 3, Monday
This morning begins with a visit to
the Theodore Roosevelt National
Park where herds of bison roam freely.
Ranches and prairies give way to
mountains as we cross Montana. We
stop at Pompey’s Pillar National
Monument, the only physical
evidence of the Lewis and Clark
expedition through the area. We
overnight in Livingston, MT. B
Day 4, Tuesday
A park guide joins us for a full day
tour of Yellowstone National Park,
best known for its geysers and
hydrothermal
activity.
Most
outstanding
of
Yellowstone’s
phenomena are Old Faithful and the
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone noted
for its spectacular coloring and deep
gorge. Tonight our lodging is in the
park. B
Day 5, Wednesday
Traveling
south
we
enter
magnificent Grand Teton National
Park. Our drive through the park takes
us to Jackson Lake Dam Overlook
offering a panoramic view of the valley.
In Jackson, WY, we check in for our
lodging. Tonight we enjoy our evening
meal at the Bar T 5 Covered Wagon
Cookout in Cache Creek Canyon. A
rib-stickin’ old style western meal is
served along with an evening of family
entertainment. L, D
Day 6, Thursday
The lore of the American West is
often associated with the State of
Wyoming. Our travel route takes us
across the Continental Divide, several
mountain ranges and diverse
landscapes en route to tonight’s
destination of Gillette, WY. B

Day 7, Friday
Our day begins with a visit to Crazy
Horse Memorial, a colossal project to
honor Chief Crazy Horse. We venture
into the world of Gutzon Borglum, the
sculptor of Mount Rushmore at the
Borglum Historical Center. A drive
through Bear Country USA brings us
close-up to numerous animals in their
natural habitat. Late afternoon we
savor a chuck wagon cowboy
supper and show before viewing the
spectacular lighting display of Mt.
Rushmore. We overnight in Keystone,
SD. B, D
Day 8, Saturday
This morning begins with a stop at
the famous Wall Drug. In
Mitchell,
SD, we view the fascinating Corn
Palace covered with designs made
from ears of corn, local grasses and
grains. Tonight’s dinner and lodging
are in the Sioux Falls, SD, area. B, D
Day 9, Sunday
Today we head home with many
fond memories of America’s national
parks. B
