OUR MESSAGE

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
F
oxtel has long held a commitment to
Reconciliation, and over the last 12 months,
having evolved into an organisation of 2,700
people, we see our opportunity to contribute with
our 4th ‘Innovate RAP’ as bigger than ever.
In 2012, Foxtel acquired Austar, XYZ Networks,
and Showtime. It was a year of focusing on
integration, and ensuring our business was
aligned and prepared for the business challenges
ahead. Now things have settled a little, and
we have gained significant momentum as one
company we are ready to re-focus on our
community initiatives, such as Reconciliation.
Since our last RAP launch in 2011, Foxtel has
proudly participated in and delivered on a
number of initiatives. We remain a very active
participant in the Media RING (which we
were responsible for launching in 2008), we
delivered a second series of our ‘Who We Are’
documentary, have remained a founding member
of Supply Nation, and partnered with fantastic
organisations such as AIME on their Community
Service Announcements, and Hoodie Day.
We recognise we can do more. This year we aim
to improve our activity in employment, both through
traineeships and internships. We are excited to
announce our commitment to a third ‘Who We Are’
series where we will partner with Reconciliation
Australia and CAAMA in a way that contributes to
the national school curriculum and educates young
Australians on the history of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
Reconciliation is such an important part of the
Australian agenda, and we will continue to strive
to make it a reality in the years ahead.

A MESSAGE FROM LEAH ARMSTRONG –
CEO OF RECONCILIATION AUSTRALIA
R
econciliation Australia would like to
congratulate Foxtel on the launch of
their fourth Reconciliation Action Plan for
2013 – 2015. We are pleased to endorse the
Foxtel RAP as an Innovate RAP which outlines
continued commitment and dedication toward
their reconciliation journey.
Reconciliation Australia is grateful for the
tremendous support that Foxtel and CAAMA
Productions have provided to our Schools
Program in creating the third series of ‘Who
We Are’. This documentary series will follow
the lives of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples specifically showing how, in
the 21st century, they engage with their history
and cultures.
The media has a particularly critical role in
the reconciliation process and Reconciliation
Australia is especially pleased that Foxtel is
playing its part through its ongoing RAP.
Over the next two years, it will be exciting to
see Foxtel continuing to employ Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander people and the
continued partnerships Foxtel have with
Supply Nation and AIME. With Foxtel acquiring
new business from Showtime, Austar and
XYZ Networks it is important to ensure
that reconciliation is a primary focus. It will
be great to see how Foxtel will use their
sphere of influence over the next few years
of integrating reconciliation across these
organisations, as reconciliation is everyone’s
business.
Congratulations once again on the launch
of your RAP. Reconciliation Australia looks
forward to supporting and strengthening your
commitments to reconciliation.

OUR RAP
FOXTEL’s fourth RAP, spans from the period 01 July 2013 to 30 June 2015. It builds on
the successes of our previous RAPs whilst absorbing the lessons we have learned from
implementing our previous plans.
Foxtel will introduce a Community Steering Committee in 2013, which will incorporate
Reconciliation as part of its agenda. This will be chaired by Richard Freudenstein, CEO.
Membership will be made up of key senior Foxtel executives across the organisation, with each
required to report to support and report back on Reconciliation Initiatives.
To support this, Foxtel will also re-introduce a RAP Working Group (RWG) to ensure all
initiatives included in this RAP are implemented and reported on. Foxtel will invite an
Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander person/s to act as an advisor in these meetings, at every
second meeting.
