Proud Sponsor of the Falcon GT Owners Club of WA (Inc) Serious about Ford’s — Past, Present and Future. Presidential Ponderings Well not much to say this month. New Year’s Day Cruise has been and gone for another year with about 17 cars attending, disappointing only one South West member attended given we headed in that direction. Well done Dave & Cheryl. A reminder that as has been the case over the last few years there will be no April Meeting at the club rooms this year on account of most of the committee being at the Nationals in Melbourne. We may have an impromptu meeting in Melbourne if we have a quorum. I’m sure everyone has noticed the price of fuel plummeting in the last few weeks so let’s make the most of it and get our cars out and use them. Don’t think the cheap fuel will last long. I’m as guilty as the next guy lately working 3 weekends out of 4 and not getting the cars out, although I have had the two wheel tractors(Harleys) out a bit. I had a phone call from a gentleman recently who had sold a car that may have been re-bodied prior to his ownership, the current owners lawyer is now suggesting court cases and possibly up to$100k restitution. As you would expect he was pretty upset by the whole situation. Don’t think we can say this enough if you’re looking at a car get one of our club gurus to look at it with you, I know if I were contemplating out laying a large sum on a car I’d be getting someone a lot more knowledgeable than myself to look at it with me. Even if you have to pay for the service its money well spent. Keep those photos, stories, jokes, what’s hidden in your shed etc coming in so we’ve got something besides adverts to read in the magazine. Drive safe and see you on the road in your GT. Regards Rob New Year’s Day Cruise Members reaction to a drinking hole not being open on a public holiday Always a great spot for a chat with fellow members, a good pub meal and a quite pint, the good old Ravenswood. Beautiful at Sunset. Editorial First for a while A great thank you to Gary Thirlwell for performing the Editor duties for the last few months. I have run out of excuses so back into it. While family, home and work seem to consume our time it was good to get out on a cruise on New Years Day, even managed to empty the boot load of NOS XY parts. The last time I saw that many wide open eyes, Peter Shelley just lost it on a bend at a hill climb and was making a headlight tail light headlight movement straight toward a gathering of members. Looking at the many posts on our Facebook page it really is the place to keep abreast of happenings and exchanges between members, there is a lot of information and suggestions that gets exchanged. Nice to see what members are doing with and without cars. As the Prez mentioned, No April Meeting at the club rooms, there wont be a quorum of committee members, I will try my hardest to get a magazine out by the end of March for April, any contributions from members would greatly assist. We have a insight into a members car from its first days with a well documented history. Check out Greg’s article. While we don’t always know about the past history with as much detail it is a great way to get to appreciate these memories of years gone by. If you have any information that you think fellow club members would be interested in drop me a line and see how it can be incorporated as a news item. See you all at a meeting soon. Cliff. December Committee Meeting Held: Wednesday 17th December 2014, Dean and Karen’s house Time: Meeting opened 7:05 pm Attendees: Rob & Peta, Marlene Z, Dean & Karen, Cliff J, Doug P, Gary T Apologies: nil Mail: FALCON GT CLUB MAGAZINES Qld OTHER CLUB MAGAZINES: MOCWA GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE IN: email re: XBGT for sale OUT: emails: Reply to email re: XBGT for sale Business Arising: No Business Arising General Business: GT Nationals 2015 No Further information has been received from organisers at this stage. Convoy: Rob needs email addresses of those that are planning on driving across to Vic in Convoy. Gary to follow up and advise Rob Nationals Jackets: Progress is being made. Peta suggested that samples should have been presented @ December meeting. Further discussion was had as to potential styles. Decided on a baseball varsity style hooded jacket. Gary to follow up/organise. Windscreen Banners – Cliff suggested it was time we looked at getting some new windscreen banners made. Committee in general agreeance; Cliff to followup / organise. Entry’s – Entry’s to be confirmed by ?? – Gary to follow up with Nats Committee Marlene to finalise rooms. Club currently has 20 reserved. Marlene will email members going, will need to confirm room requirement ASAP or risk losing your room. Cutoff date for rooms to be decided, but will be communicated to those that are noted as attending the Nationals. CMC No code 404 changes yet. December Committee Meeting cont.. Approvals for weddings etc will be noted on the club app and will only be made visible to members. CMC have agreed/confirmed this is acceptable. Insurance – CMC clarified it is a change in Broker, not insurer at this stage. No changes to the clubs policy at this stage. Current broker (OAMPS) purchased by George Arthur and Assoc, who have also purchased TISC (a South Aust broker). CMC have concerns that the new brokers may push the TISC (SA) product (which is, in the eyes of the CMC, not as good a product) over the existing product – will need to wait and see what happens. CTP Changes – Govt has called for submissions on it’s green paper covering proposed options/change to compulsory 3rd party insurance. CMC is putting in a submission Suggests that all clubs put in a submissions Submissions open until 24th December Club will email link to all members with 404 concession, suggesting they make a submissions seeking assurances that code 404 concession shall be exempt from the changes. New Year’s Day cruise Destination decided – Redcliffe on the Murray. Details available on the club app Pay Pal account Application has been submitted for club PayPal account. Noted that PayPal have a device that plugs into a smartphone and uses the smartphone to create a secure connection to PayPal which would allow the club to accept credit card payments direct to the PayPal account. Costs $139. May negate some of the issues with the bank. Committee to investigate further. There being no further business meeting closed at 8:15pm . Next meeting date/time/location to be confirmed. January General Meeting Held: Sunday 4th January 2015, Malaga Time: Meeting opened at 10.12am. Apologies: Alen & Lisa; Ann & Paul Visitors: Nil Mail In: Magazines – GT Clubs: GT Owners Club Victoria Mail in: Other Club Magazines: Mail In: General and by Email: - Email re: new magazine that may be of interest to members – The Garage Journal Thank you card from the Simpsons (Tambellup) for the flowers the club sent on the passing of Murray’s mum Rare Spares product update Email re: BA GT for sale Mail Out: response to BA GT for sale email Minutes of last meeting: Held over to Feb due to no magazine in January Treasurer’s report: Accepted by Keith Martin Seconded Dave Business Arising AFD: Nothing to report CMC Delegates Report: - - - - Code 404: ongoing, Dept seem to not have their act together. Code 404 30km limit: Calrified that the 30km limit is not a hard limit. You are able to travel beyond this limit for test/tune/repairs etc however you require club approval. Under 30km limit doesn’t require club approval. Looks like checks will be increased. Gary suggested use of Team App to manage approvals – CMC OK with this approach. Public Liability Insurance:clarified that it is a change of Broker, not insurer. Only concern at the moment is that when renewal is due, the new broker may push th SA policy which isn’t as good as the policy we currently have. CTP Insurance Changes – Govt had put out a green paper seeking submissions. Submissions have now closed (24/12). CMC put in a submission. From / regarding the green paper: Cost will be % based increase on current policy Payouts will not be lump sum, but will be drip fed CMC calculated will raise $2 Mil / year, outlay only $6Mil over last few years combined (additional money for govt.) CMC seeked assurances that code 404 will be exempt Now waiting for an outcome. Gary noted that irrespective of outcome, rego appears to have gone up $100 already, and that even with the increase, our rego / ctp insurance is still cheaper than most other states. AHMF – there have been discussions by the AHMF that there is room for a 3 rd association, to represent modified car. AHMF wants to only be concerned with historic cars ASRF only deals with Hot-rods (Pre-49) General Business Insurance Values – Jan noted that he has just received the renewal for his GT and the insurance company has de-valued his car again – had 20K taken off the value. Wanted to know if he was isolated, or if it was more widespread. Urged members to check their values/policies. Other members noted they hadn’t had issues, maybe it was unique to his Insurer (Lumleys). GT Nationals 2015 Convoy Itinerary – Rob will distribute next week Rooms – lots of people didn’t reply to email. Marlene will confirm the rooms we have, and give the others back. Jackets – Greg enquired where they were at. Gary noted he will have info soon. Motel @ Venue – Greg enquired if we knew the parking situation at the motel for those taking more than 1 car. Marlene said its basically 1 bay / room, but looking at the hotel, there should be room for an extra car or two. BA GT for sale. Blueprint, 250,000 km - $19500 Rob has details if you are interested. I was in the gym yesterday and I said to my trainer “Which machine can I use to impress that good looking blonde over there” He looked at me and said “Try the cash machine outside you fat Bastard” Shoulda gone to Specsavers! THINGS TO KNOW: Many years ago in Scotland , a new game was invented. It was ruled 'Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden'.. .... And thus, the word GOLF entered into the English language. > ------------ The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone. > ------------ Coca-Cola was originally green.. > ------------ It is impossible to lick your elbow. > ------------ 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321 > ------------ Q..... If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter 'A'? A... One thousand > ------------ At least 75% of people who read this will try to lick their elbow! > Irish blonde... An attractive blonde from Cork, Ireland , arrived at the casino. She seemed a little intoxicated and bet twenty thousand dollars in a single roll of the dice. She said, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm completely nude." with that, she stripped from the neck down, rolled the dice and with an Irish brogue yelled, "Come on, baby, Mama needs new clothes!" As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up and down and squealed. "Yes! Yes! I won, I won!" She hugged each of the dealers, picked up her winnings and her clothes and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded. Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?" The other answered, "I don't know - I thought you were watching." MORAL OF THE STORY Not all Irish are drunks, not all blondes are dumb, but all men... are men! Firstly, an outline of the car is that it is one of only six black XY GT’s, five being automatic and one manual – being our car. In other words, this is the only manual Onyx Black XY GT. The car also has rare factory options, being delete body stripes, left and right hand external mirrors and black interior. Attached is a picture of the car as it is today. More importantly is the ownership history which commences with the car being ordered specifically for Peter Warren of Peter Warren Ford. Peter Warren owned arguably one of the most successful dealerships in Sydney that ordered and distributed rare Australian muscle cars. For example, our Raw Orange white interior GTHO Phase 3 was also a Peter Warren car. But, back to the Onyx Black XY GT, Peter Warren had dealer-fitted options such as white interior with Hawaiian inserts (see photo attached), reflective orange body stripes and Sport 52 wheels. The first owner of the car, Ron Roberts, spotted the car as it was delivered in the showroom and convinced Peter Warren to sell them the car. Ron describes how Peter had bought a new mustang and didn’t want to keep both cars. I suspect the Onyx Black XY GT is worth far more than a run of the mill, produced in their thousands, Mustang! Ron and Cathy Roberts owned the car for about 7 years, during which time they relocated their family from Sydney to Darwin. They loaded up the GT with trailer, family and roof racks to make the long trip from Sydney to Darwin. Some of the road was unsealed! The pictures provided show the car in two locations along this trip, one of the pictures regularly appears in Muscle Car magazines as it is not often these cars were used in remote locations of Australia.. I thought I would share this short story and the photos with you regarding our unique car and its very interesting history, as the history of these cars is often lost over a period of time. I hope you enjoy this.
