RESUI/IIC'{ G' TID TU{NOOOIIAM I.EGilSIAIIVE EUN(IL I , (Approving Attorney Contract with California Indian Legal Services) RESOTUTION 3 NO. 96.519 4 WHEREAS. pu$uant to Legislative Couneil Resolutions 95-525,96-197 and 96-357, J the Nation entered into an Attorney Contract, and Amendment 6 ,7 I and 2 theretoo with California Indian Legal Nos. Serviees (the 8 "Attorneys") for the purpose of providing legal representation to 9 lo protect the Nation's interests under the Indian Child Welfare Act in tl connection with legal proeeedings in the State of California; and 12 13 t4 l5 l6 WHDREAS, the Attorney Contract expired on September 30, 1996; and WIIf,Rf,AS, continued representation is neeessary to proteet the Nationts interests in these proceedings; and L7 IB WHEREAS. the Attorney General has recommended an extension of the Attorney l9 Contract for fiscal year 1997 in the amount of $10,000; and 20 2l WHEREAS, the operating budget for the 0ffice of Attorney General for fiseal 22 year 1997 has sufficient funds for a Contract in sueh amount; and 23 24 WHERIAS, the Domestic Affairs Committee reeommends approval by the 2S 26 Legislative Council of an Attorney Contract with the Attorneys on sueh terms. 2A I RESOttm0N N0. 96-519 Approving Attorney Contract with California Infian Legal Serviees) age2of4 2 3 NOW, THIREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 4 ) The Tohono 0'odham Legislative Council hereby approves an 6 .7 B Attorney Contract with California Indian Legal Serviees in the amount of $10,000 for the fiseal year ending September 30, 9 in the form attached hereto. lo 1997 and l1 The Chairman of the Nation is authorized and direeted to 12 l3 t4 l5 t6 exeeute the Attorney Contraet.
