Placer Title Company was founded by Leo French in 1973. Leo’s vision
was to create a work environment that emphasized people. His dream:
“To bring together a group of people who really care about each other
and about their customers.” Leo believed that if this was accomplished,
success would follow. It did. Beginning with only two offices—one in
Roseville, California and the other in Auburn, California—Placer Title
Company has grown throughout Northern California and beyond.

Welcome to Manteca!
Manteca is a city 76 miles east of San Francisco. As a city in San Joaquin County,
Manteca can be readily accessed today using California’s major highways,
Interstate 5, and State Routes 99 and 120.
Manteca was founded in 1861 by Joshua Cowell, a landowner who claimed
1,000 acres of land around today’s town center. In 1873, the Central Pacific
Railroad laid track directly in this area. The residents wanted to name the stop
“Cowell Station,” but the name had already been claimed by Cowell’s brother
who was developing land not far away. Instead, the community chose the name
“Monteca.” A misprint by the railroad company led to the name “Manteca” and
has been accepted since.
Manteca’s location in the Central Valley serves it advantageously as an agricultural
hub as recent as the 1970s. Over time, as people looked for affordable alternatives
to Bay Area home prices in addition to a more tranquil lifestyle, Manteca became
a prime choice, allowing it to fashion itself the “Family City.” Today, as agriculture
takes a backseat to the city’s economy, high-tech industries are blossoming in
the area.
Located in the Central Valley, Manteca is hot during the summer months when
temperatures tend to be in the 90s and cold during the winter when temperatures
are generally in the 40s.
