STATED MEETING OCTOBER 17, 2012
VALLEY OF NEW CASTLE RECOGNITION NIGHT
The Valley of New Castle held a quarterly meeting on October 17, 2012 and recognized brethren who received various honors, awards and recognition for their service to Freemasonry during the last year. The attendance was exceptional as over 200 members and guest were present. The evening started with a buffet dinner, followed by a short business meeting presided over by the New Castle Lodge of Perfection, and then an open meeting was convened to introduce our honored guest. Brother Samuel C. Mullins was introduced and presented with the Meritorious Service Award by Illustrious Brother William L. McCarrier, Active Member, Supreme Council of Grand Inspectors General of the Thirty Third and last Degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. He was also presented with his Red MSA Hat. Brothers N. Floyd Montgomery and Kenneth C. Venmar were introduced as the recipients of the MSA Award which will be presented in 2013 at Seven Springs, Pennsylvania during the Annual Pennsylvania Council of Deliberation Meeting on July 13, 2013. Brother Venmar and Montgomery Those Illustrious Brothers who were coroneted Thirty Third Degree Masons on August 28, 2012 in Cleveland were recognized and presented with their White Thirty Third Degree hats. Illustrious Brothers Mark R. Nord, Mark E. Viertel, Robert T. Cummings, Robert Sisco were present and unfortunately Illustrious Brothers Gerald C. Cochran and William H. Rush could not attend and sent their regrets. Pictured above: Viertel, McCarrier, Cummings and Sisco Mark Nord The Illustrious Brothers who were elected to be coroneted in Washington D. C. on August 20, 2013 were recognized. Brothers David J. Williamson, Jerry D. Belloit, and Glenn D. Miller, II were present and Brothers Kevin A. Griffin, John W. Hodge and Russell H. Moore, Jr. were not able to attend because of prior commitments. The coroneted and elected Thirty Third Degree Members. Pictured above is Glenn D. Miller, II, David J. Williamson, Jerry D. Belloit, Active Member William L. McCarrier, Mark E. Viertel, Robert T. Cummings and Robert C. Sisco. The 2012 Valley Service Awards were presented to Brothers Paul E. Drewberry and Henry H. Schell this year. Both men deserved the honor as they both give unselfish service to the Valley of New Castle. Paul E. Drewberry Albert A. Grossman, McCarrier, Twila and George Wollaston Illustrious Brother William L. McCarrier presented Gold Ties to Albert A. Grossman and George and Twila Wollaston for their generous gifts to the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Western Pennsylvania. The Gold Tie presents a gift of at least $10,000.00 has been made. Roberta and Glenn Miller received a Green Tie which represents a commitment to make a $10,000.00 donation over a period of time. We wish to thank all three members for their support to help children with dyslexia. The second Louis R. Berkhimer Thespian Award recipient Illustrious Brother S. Robert Marziano was honored for his devotion to professional degree work. The Valley of New Castle presented a special award to our Active Member Illustrious Brother William L. McCarrier for his devoted service to the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in general and the Valley of New Castle in particular. He has provided exceptional leadership and service to help our Valley to be the best it can be. The Valley was please to honor those present who have participated in the conferral of the 4, 14, 16, 18, 31 and 32 degrees. It takes over 100 devoted members to have a successful Reunion and their service needs to be recognized by the Valley. Those honored include the Cast members, Choir, Stag Hands, Wardrobe, Organist, Registration, Class Marshalls, and the Food Committee. It was a pleasure to present those present a Certificate of Service and a Degree Member label pin. Members of the 14 Degree Team: Marziano, Jackson, Beffinger, Marvin, Amsler, Pennington, and Nord Cast Members of the 16, 18, 31 and 32 Degrees present: Front Row Ward, Grossman, Sinclair, Weigel, McWhertor Second Row Camp, Parkinson, Donley, Viertel, Raymar, Connor, Lebby, Terwilliger, Pumphrey, Hill and Cummings. Choir members Camp, Weigel, Kunselman, Martin, Conway and McConnell Wardrobe Chairman Cranmer, Stag Manager McKibben, Registration Team Montgomery, Williamson and Drewberry Our special and most important Committee Lou H. Hill, Jr. and Michael R. Matis Michael Matis and Lou H. Hill, Jr. make our Reunions and Stated Meeting Meals for the enjoyment of those who partake. The Banquet was held in the Ballroom and the food was provided by the Food Committee and over 150 members enjoyed a fine dinner before the meeting. One of the most important awards that the Valley can present is the 50, 60, 65, and 70 year service awards. Unfortunately because of age, health and distant to attend this meeting most of the recipients cannot be present to receive their Certificate and Service Pin. They received their new 200th anniversary jewel in the mail from the Supreme Council. The new members who received their name tag are highlighted in bold print. We were pleased to see the new members attend our quarterly stated meeting.
