Queen of Peace Center Emerson/Bunzl Golf Tournament Fund a Need (2008) Gift to St. Philippine Home provides a place of Refuge for Families By Connie Neumann, Executive Director St. Philippine Home will be a little better and families will have a new place to prepare meals and to dine thanks to a Connie Neumann, $15,000 Fund a Need gift from the 2008 Invitational QOPC Executive Director Emerson/Bunzl Golf Tournament. The golf tournament has grown in just 22 years to become one of the largest in the St. Louis area. The updated kitchen has new cabinets and countertops, a new floor, a new stove and new wall tile. Fresh paint, dining room floor and new pantry storage help to keep the environment clean and organized. The Center’s maintenance husband and wife team, “The Double D’s”, Deanna and Darryl, have been a remarkable influence in completing projects which otherwise would be cost prohibitive. They have made extraordinary accomplishments as team builders. The golf tournament spearheaded this year by Co-Chairs LaVerne Lorenzini and Tim Ferry, credit its success to the commitment of a hard working tournament committee. The Center is most fortunate to have these resources available to us. However, one thing noticed when Board members visited St. Philippine Home, was they were in need of a place of refuge. For a Board committed to family, mom and kids come first, and a warm, inviting kitchen and dining room for family to gather seemed like a great idea.
