Parallel Optics Solution
With the continued requirement for data expansion and high speed applications
in data center, 40/100G Ethernet application is growing rapidly and multimode
parallel optics is considered a cost-effective solution for short distance link
application within data center. IEEE802.3ba and IEEE802.3bm are the 2 standards
ratifying 40 and 100G Ethernet parallel optics solutions.
4 Lanes Parallel Optics
IEEE802.3ba was ratified in June 2010. The standard
defines 40GBASE-SR4 which uses four lanes of multimode FIBRE delivering serialized data at a rate of
10Gb/s per lane. QSFP+ transceiver is adopted and
from cabling side 12-fibre MTP/MPO connector should
be used. IEEE802.3bm was released on Mar 2015 and
defines 100GBASE-SR4. This solution uses four lanes
at 25Gb/s per lane and 8 fibres will be used for one
100G port. Therefore, we could use the same cabling
infrastructure to upgrade the network from 40GBASESR4 to 100GBASE-SR4. But the supported distance of
100GBASE-SR4 will be shorter and should be taken into
account when upgrading.

The IEEE802.3ba standard also defines 100GBASE-SR10
which uses ten lanes at 10Gb/s per lane to support 100G
application. With this solution, 20 fibres will be used for
one single 100G Ethernet port. A MTP/MPO connector
with 24 fibres or two 12-fibre MTP/MPO connectors
could be used depend on transceiver design.

Structured cabling systems, predominately utilise copper cabling for
both the backbone cabling as well as the horizontal cabling. In the
hybrid copper/optical fibre cabling system, copper cabling is used for the

MPO/MTP® QSFP+ trunk/assemblies are interconnecting QSFP+ transceivers operating within 40G BASE-SR parallel optics networks. MPO/MTP® QSFP+ assemblies are offered as 8 fibres OM3 or OM4 trunks using a compact and rugged double jacket microcable structure or s using compact single jacket micro cable or loose tube cable. Compact and flexible microcable optimises
cable-way use and improve airflow in high density data centre environment.
QSFP+ MPO/MTP® assembly when connected directly to QSFP+ transceivers should feature female un-pinned MPO/MTP connector. When assembly is mated with another MTP®/MPO QSFP+ assembly – male/ pinned or female/un-pinned connector
should be chosen accordingly (MPO/MTP® male/ pinned connector must always be mated with MPO/MTP® female/ un-pinned
connector. )

MPO/MTP® 24 fibres ferrule cable assembly is a product designed for cable infrastructure which is used or which is due to be
upgraded for parallel optics 40/100G protocols like 100G BASE-SR10 or 40GBASE-SR4. Assembly is built using 24 fibres ferrule
interface MPO/MTP® connectors which can be used directly with CFP/CXP 100G transceivers or when used together with transition modules/cables can provide 40/100G parallel transceivers or legacy non-parallel optics 4/8/10/16G ethernet/fibre channels
protocols networks.
Assemblies are offered in main 2 standard variants as the trunks using double jacket 4.5mm OD micro cable structure and as a
patchleads using single jacket 3mm OD micro cable structure. small and compact size of micro cable is ideal for high density data
center application. Indoor/ Outdoor grade of assemblies are available with traditional loose tube cable as well as unique micro
cable.
MPO/MTP® multifibre interface facilitates rapid deployment of high density backbone cabling in data centers and other high
fibre environments reducing network installation or reconfiguration time and cost.

40G parallel optics transceivers (40G BASE-SR4) can support 4x10G modes, Tthis feature allow new parallel optics active equipment being compatible with existing 10G transceivers. MPO/MTP QSFP+ to SFP+ Fan-out assemblies provide connections between single QSFP+ (40G transceiver with MPO/MTP interface) and 4 x SFP+ (10G transceivers with LC(DX) Interface). Parallel

MPO/MTP® Fan-Out assemblies interface multifibre MPO/MTP with discrete single fibre (LC/SC) connectors. Assemblies are typically used to directly interconnect MPO/MTP® cassettes, panels or backbone trunk assemblies with the active equipment ports,
especially for some high density application such as SAN director switch to save costly data centre rack space and easing fibre
management. MPO/MTP® micro cable fan-out assemblies are offered in all fibre types and variety of core counts (from 12 to 144
fibres) using a compact and rugged micro cable structure. The compact cable optimises cable-way use and improve the airflow.
Proprietary design of FirstLighttm prime breakout module provides robust, safe and secure transition between cable and discrete
connector tails. MPO/MTP® fan-outs are built with highest quality components. Standard MPO/MTP, LC as well low loss Elite MPO/

The pre-terminated cable assembly features providing flexible though ruggedized product with various cable constructions
ready for different applications. The assembly offers 12 fibre to high density 144 fibre options. The standard 2mm patch lead style
tails are ruggedized to secure the optical fibre in the non-protected environments outside the patch panel or optical distribution
frames (ODFs). The network topology can be reduced and simplified by direct connection to active equipment bypassing wall
boxes, ODFs of fibre patch panels, the end result is a greatly improved power budget and reduced fibre management space.

Panel
The sliding patch panel system in its basic form is supplied with the panels unloaded or pre-loaded complete with the adaptor
and simple splice management kit, or preloaded with pigtails. The tray is locked in place with two simple to operate plastic latches, when fully extended the tray is designed to lower to 45°, or move the tray to the side and it will lock to lower only 10°. This
provides the perfect working platform for installation or easy maintenance and access even after the panel is installed in the rack.

1U High Density Dual Tray Pivot Panel
An innovative, high density pivot panel designed to accept 24 SC
simplex footprint adaptors within each of two ½ U trays. Each tray
fully manages the incoming fibres, pigtails and splices. The panel
can pivot by up to 116° to allow easy access during installation or
rework with no disturbance of the existing cable or fibres. Angled
adaptors route exiting patch cords directly into the cabinet side
management. An optional bracket maintains the minimum bend
radius in any direction. The panel can be assembled to pivot in either direction, facilitating cable entry from either side. Ventilation
tracts allow free flow of air through the panel, providing highly
efficient cooling for active equipment.
