Now in its sixth year, the HACR YHCA program recognizes talented young professionals from Fortune 500 and/or HACR corporate member companies for their exceptional achievements and successful leadership abilities, as well as their ongoing commitment to the Hispanic community. Longtime corporate member Altria sponsored the program. “Thanks again for all your hard work and the support during the HACR event. It was a great experience,” said Mauricio Pincheira of General Motors. Participants gathered for an intensive three-day program where they partook in teambuilding exercises, group presentations and challenging panel discussions and sessions which included topics on: corporate diversity, personal branding and organizational services to enhance internal and external collaboration, inclusion and leadership. The HACR YHCA attendees participated in leadership sessions led by Dr. Juana Bordas, president of Mesitza Leadership International. In addition, they heard from UCLA’s Dr. Jorge Cherbosque regarding emotional intelligence and from William Arruda, who provided insight on the importance of personal Altria’s Joe Murillo, HACR YHCA participant Noreen Gillen, and HACR’s Carlos Orta. The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) honored 30 young professionals at the 2012 HACR Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers™ (YHCA) program in Chicago held on April 15-17. branding to help get ahead in Corporate America. The participants also had the opportunity to connect with HACR’s other program participants during two separate panels, with one panel featuring Rocky Egusquiza and Lourdes Diaz. The other panel featured Isaura Gaeta, Robert Rodriguez, and Darren Rebelez. “Thanks again for everything! I thoroughly enjoyed the program and learned a lot,” said Marla Gomez of Intel. To qualify for the HACR YHCA program, nominees and candidates should be of Hispanic heritage and be between the ages of 25-40 at the time the award is received. They must be employed at a Fortune 500 or HACR corporate member company. Finalists are selected based on their demonstrated leadership qualities and capabilities within their respective corporations and have a commitment to the Hispanic community. Launched in 2007, the HACR YHCA program was developed as a way to recognize the outstanding achievements of young Hispanic professionals in Corporate America and further the organization’s vision to increase the number of Hispanics on corporate boards.
