CORPORATE ACHIEVERS SUMMIT™
Launched in 2011, the HACR Corporate Achievers Summit™ (CAS) was created to offer Young
Hispanic Corporate Achievers™ (YHCA) a platform to network with previous HACR YHCA classes
and participate in training sessions that use critical thinking to become better executives and
leaders within their companies in order to fuel the pipeline in Corporate America.
HACR CAS participants are moving rapidly within their corporations and industries, finding new
opportunities and challenges. This program is designed to address those challenges, provide
insight, and learning.

Jennifer Altarriba joined
ESPN in February of 2004
as their first international
assignment editor,
managing the flow of
content between the
U.S. SportsCenter and
the newly launched U.S.
Spanish-language network, ESPN Deportes.
Her role allowed her to travel and facilitate
content for major events including the 2006
FIFA World Cup, Euro 2008, 2008 Beijing
Olympics, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in
South Africa.

Sanchez works at Ford’s
Environmental Quality
Office. In her current role
as Plant Environmental
Compliance Engineer,
Arana Sanchez
is responsible for
compliance at the Ford Livonia Transmission
Plant, as well as supporting new programs
at Mexico facilities. Arana Sanchez began
her career at Ford in 2005. She held a
position with Ford’s Global Policy Group,
where she was part of the team leading the
development of Ford’s CO2 manufacturing
strategy. She is also responsible for Ford’s
first Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reports in
Asia Pacific, South America, and Mexico,
as well as the development of the Global
Environmental Database which now houses
Ford’s environmental metrics. Arana Sanchez
has vast experience on climate change. In
2010, she participated in the Automobile
Industry Action Group (AIAG) GHG initiative
to encourage suppliers to report GHG data.
She also supported Ford’s material and
handling initiatives to reduce GHG from the
transportation of vehicles and parts.
ESPN
In February of 2011, Altarriba joined
ESPN’s Remote Operations Department.
As the current senior director of crewing
and resources, her division is responsible
for the scheduling, payroll, and contract
arrangements of over 12,000 event
employees. This includes coordinating the
logistics of 4,000 events each year, ranging
in properties from Monday Night Football
and NCAA Basketball, to NBA and College
Football.
Altarriba graduated with honors from
Harvard University in 2003, earning a
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and American
literature. Originally from Weehawken, N.J.,
Altarriba currently lives in Connecticut with
her husband, Adam Jenkins, son, Enrique, and
twins, London and Sydney.

is the president of the
San Diego Region in
Southern California for
Wells Fargo. A 16-year
financial services veteran,
Arredondo oversees over
841 financial professionals
and 55 retail stores with over $5 billion in total
deposits and $1.5 billion in total loans.
Selene Benavides is client
finance director with
Consero Global where
she helps companies
address complex financial
requirements with
software applications
while scaling finance
operations more efficiently and reducing
G&A expenses to allow for greater investment
in driving and supporting top line growth for
her clients.

In 2013, Arredondo was nominated and
accepted into the Young Hispanic Corporate
Achievers™ program. He was also
recognized as being one of the “Top 40 under
40” business executives within San Diego
by San Diego Magazine. Arredondo was
invited to join the Stanford University Latino
Entrepreneurship Board. Most recently, he
was recognized at the Latino Impact Awards
hosted by San Diego Magazine. Arredondo
was presented with the “Volunteer of the
Year” award for his exemplary dedication
to volunteering throughout San Diego
communities.
Arredondo currently serves as the vice chair
for the San Diego Regional Chamber of
Commerce. He also serves on boards for
Father Joe’s Villages, LEAD San Diego, Big
Brothers and Big Sisters of San Diego County,
and The American Red Cross.
CONSERO GLOBAL
Prior to her new role, Benavides was the
chief financial officer/chief operations officer
for the National Society of Hispanic MBAs,
located in Irving, Texas, where she was
responsible for helping its leadership define
the strategic direction of the organization,
enhance its offerings and reduce its expenses,
all while overseeing the Operations, Finance,
Legal, and IT functions of the business which
includes 40 chapters across the nation.
Previously, Benavides was a Cost Center
manager at Dell, where she oversaw the
Global Audit and Transformation budget that
included 300+ employees across the world.
Benavides received a bachelor’s in
mathematics from Texas A&M University and
holds an MBA from Texas State University in
San Marcos, Texas.

Christian Campos is a
senior vice-president and
leads the Premier Phone
Banks for Wells Fargo’s
Customer Connection.
He has over 18 years of
experience in the banking
industry and has held
several leadership positions since he joined
Wells Fargo in 2004.
Campos attended California State University,
Northridge, where he received a bachelor’s
degree in business administration.
Active in his community, Campos currently
serves on the board of directors for Clear
Passage. He is also involved in the Latino
Business Administration, Sierra Lakes PTA,
and the United Way.

Operations at the Mirage
Resort and Casino in Las
Vegas and has more than
16 years of hospitality
experience.
She received her bachelor’s in hotel
administration from the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas, as well as spent
some time abroad at HIM (Hotel Institute
Montreux) – Montreux, Switzerland, IHTTI
(International Hotel and Tourism Training
Institute) School of Hotel Management
– Neuchatel, Switzerland and the Ecole
Hoteliere de Lausanne – Lausanne,
Switzerland.
She participated in the MGM Resorts’
Leadership Institute program in 2012 and
is currently in the Leadership Las Vegas
Program. She is the recipient of the J.
Terrence Lanni Award for Excellence, MGM
Resorts International highest honor.
She currently serves on the boards of
the Women’s Chamber of Nevada, Latin
Advisory Board for Nathan Adelson Hospice
and the Congressional Award of Nevada.
She is the past chair of the MGM Resorts
International Hispanic Latino network group.

Jomo Castro represents
AT&T in Southeast
Missouri, handling
inquiries as well
as legislative and
community affairs
initiatives. Castro
also assists with new
technology deployment and infrastructure
investment by collaborating with community
leaders, legislators, local and regional
business leaders, and customers.
Nydia Correa is a
Subsystem Validation
engineer in General
Motors’ (GM) Global
Validation organization.
In this role, Correa is
responsible to ensure
customer requirements
in eight vehicle programs. Correa joined
GM in 2007 and transitioned to the Global
Validation organization in 2015.
AT&T INC.
Previously, Castro was part of the leadership
team in AT&T’s Global Project Management
organization where he led initiatives
to improve organizational efficiency,
accountability, and enabled teams to
better serve customers. Castro’s experience
includes leading a team, collaborating with
partners, managing organizational data,
goals, metrics, and executive reporting, to
mention some.
Castro is passionate about helping others
and has had success through the AT&T
employee resource group, HACEMOS. Here,
he has successfully cultivated partnerships
with companies and organizations for
marquee events like High Technology Day
and the HACEMOS Scholarship Golf Classic.
GENERAL MOTORS CO.
Correa has demonstrated a profound
commitment towards philanthropy as
the GM Hispanic Initiative Team (GMHIT)
Community Service lead, as A World in
Motion program coordinator, and as a
Latin Americans for Social & Economic
Development Tax Assistance program
volunteer.
Correa obtained a bachelor’s degree in
industrial engineering in 2006 from the
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, and
obtained a master’s degree in automotive
engineering from the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor, in 2011. Correa completed a
graduate certificate in customer value
and market success at Stanford University
and participated in SHPE’s 2014 Executive
Leadership Institute Program.
Castro holds a master’s in management
information systems, is PMP certified, and in
2015, was selected as one of St. Louis’ “most
intriguing people.”

Alencia DeAnda-Gregg is
currently the chief of staff
for AT&T’s Global Media
Relations organization.
She is responsible for
business planning,
budget, and operations.
DeAnda-Gregg has been
with AT&T for nearly 20 years and has held
leadership roles in numerous organizations
including Mobility, Technical Operations,
and Customer Service.
Sylena Echevarria is an
assistant vice president
in Business Strategy
& Support, where she
is accountable for the
strategic development
and execution of
customer experience
initiatives across U.S. Insurance Group
Operations. She previously led the Life
& Disability Income Operations and Tax
Administration organization, and is the
former head of the U.S. Insurance Group
Customer Service Centers.
AT&T INC.
DeAnda-Gregg graduated from Southern
Methodist University’s (SMU) Corporate
Executive Development Program in 2015 and
volunteers with numerous organizations.
Most recently she was an officer of AT&T’s
oxyGEN employee resource group which is
focused on developing business leaders.
DeAnda-Gregg was born and raised in
Colorado and attended Colorado State
University. She relocated to Dallas in 2013, to
work at AT&T headquarters.
DeAnda-Gregg is married to Tony Gregg
and they have a blended family of four
children ages nineteen to twenty-three.
MASSMUTUAL
Echevarria is the past chair of the
Association of Latino’s at MassMutual and
Allies (ALMMA). Under her leadership,
in 2015 ALMMA was named the top 12
employee resource group in the nation
by the Association of ERG’s & Councils
and Prism International. She is a founding
member of the Womens Leadership Network
and a recognized diversity champion. She
was featured by MassMutual in a special
diversity edition of the New York Times
Magazine in 2014, and was honored that
same year as a HACR Young Hispanic
Corporate Acheiver™.
Echevarria is an active member of the
board of directors for Revitalize Community
Development Corporation, and is also a
volunteer coach with the Girls Inc. Teen
Leadership Academy.

is a first generation
Cuban-American and is
the regional controller,
Resort Management
for Wyndham Vacation
Ownership (WVO)
and prior to this he
was the director, Financial Reporting and
Corporate Accounting for WVO. He holds a
master’s degree in accounting from Florida
International University and bachelor’s
degree in accounting from Florida State
University. He is a founding board member
of FUERTE, WVO’s Hispanic associate
business group, and has served as the board
chairman and finance committee chair for
the Orlando chapter.

Prior to joining ESPN in 2008, she held
numerous HR roles including senior
manager, HR with Revlon and prior to
that more than 10 years in two different
companies supporting sales as well.
Fernandez is passionate about employee
development and has participated in
NAMIC’s Leadership Seminar, The ESPN
Mentoring Program, and is very engaged in
the Disney Heroes Work Here campaign.
Fernandez received with her bachelor’s in
psychology from City College of New York.
In 2005, she graduated with honors and
received her master’s in HR management.

industries, he has been responsible
for managing several operational and
accounting functions. Fernandez’s
experience also includes over six years
of public accounting experience with
Ernst & Young LLP. Fernandez was also a
founding member of the Miami Chapter
for the Association of Latino Professionals
in Finance and Accounting and actively
involved with the Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce of Metro Orlando.

initiatives focused on protecting users and
products from fraud and abuse.
Mara Garcia Kaplan
is a senior counsel at
Target Corporation,
a Minneapolis-based
retailer with over $75
billion in sales. Garcia
Kaplan is responsible
for the legal aspects
of Target’s merger and acquisition (M&A)
activity. She provides strategic guidance and
transactional support on M&A activity.
GOOGLE
Prior to joining Google, Freedman Aponte
was a vice president and product manager
at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, a strategy
consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, and a
research & development engineer at the
U.S. Army’s Night Vision Labs. He has led
several development efforts aligned to the
next generation of ATMs, communication
satellites, and networked sensors.
Freedman Aponte has served on the
board of directors of the YMCA and the
Latin American Chamber of Commerce in
Charlotte, N.C. He was also an enterprise
leader for Bank of America’s 7,000 member
Hispanic/Latino Organization for Leadership
& Advancement employee resource group,
and received the U.S. President’s Volunteer
Service Award in 2013.
He holds an MBA from the University of
Virginia’s Darden School of Business, a
master’s in electrical engineering from
George Washington University, and a
bachelor’s from Georgia Tech in computer
engineering.
TARGET CORPORATION
Prior to joining Target, Garcia Kaplan was
with the law firm Faegre Baker Daniels
where she advised multinational clients on
cross-border transactions, including global
M&A, restructuring, joint ventures, and
market entry strategies. She also counseled
clients on international compliance matters
including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Prior to her legal career, Garcia Kaplan
spent five years in the financial services
industry.
Garcia Kaplan was named in 2015 by
the Hispanic Association of Corporate
Responsibility (HACR) as a Young Hispanic
Corporate Achiever™ and was nominated
as one of two of Target’s 2013 Fellow for the
Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. She
has served in various leadership roles both
at the Hispanic National Bar Association and
the Minnesota Hispanic National Bar since
2004. She has also served as a member of
Advisory Board of the Institute for Mexicans
Abroad, a decentralized agency of the
Mexican Foreign Ministry.

Juan Garcia is an
enterprise vendor
relationship manager
in the Enterprise
Vendor Management
Office (EVMO) at State
Farm Insurance. He
played a key role in
operationalizing vendor relationships with
multiple vendors when the EVMO was first
established in 2013.
Maria Jose Gatti
serves as the executive
director of Philanthropy
and Community
Engagement for MGM
Resorts International’s
Corporate Operations.
She is responsible for
fostering and maintaining relationships with
national and local community organizations.
Through these relationships, she supports
the company’s business objectives, and
additionally facilitates the company’s
participation in programs and events that
support the community. She also implements
programs to help educate and engage the
employees of MGM Resorts on community
related initiatives, activities, and issues.
Gatti is also the vice president of the MGM
Resorts Foundation and the program
director for the MGM Resorts Foundation
Women’s Leadership Conference, which
focuses on the professional development of
women of all industries.
STATE FARM INSURANCE
Garcia began his career at State Farm
in 2006 as a Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) analyst, where he helped
further develop State Farm’s geo-spatial
capabilities. He then had the opportunity to
join the Innovation Team where he led the
design and development of the telematics
program for State Farm’s Intelligent Home
initiative.
In addition, Garcia was the chair of State
Farm’s Hispanic Employee Resource
Organization (HERO) during 2015, where he
led HERO’s migration to an enterprise-led
approach.
Garcia is passionate about community
service and demonstrates this by fulfilling
leadership positions in local organizations
such as Bloomington-Normal Daybreak
Rotary Club, Epiphany Catholic School,
Multi-Cultural Leadership Program (MCLP),
and others.

In 2008, Gatti joined Luxor Hotel and Casino,
an MGM Resorts International property, as
director of Guest Experience and in 2010
was appointed to also oversee the Guest
Experience program for both Luxor and
Excalibur Hotels and Casinos. During her
three years at the properties, she served
as either chair or co-chair of the Property
Diversity Councils; which were responsible
for implementing the company’s diversity
principles into the properties’ culture.

GONZALEZ
Janeth Gomez is a senior
manager on Capital
One’s Marketing and
Analytics team. She is a
leader in critical initiatives
dedicated to harnessing
the power of big data
and natural language
processing to improve the customer
experience and business strategy. During
her nine years at Capital One, Gomez has
held multiple customer experience strategy
and data analytics roles. She has received
numerous recognitions, including the Circle
of Excellence, the highest recognition at
Capital One.
Ariel Gonzalez has over
15 years of advocacy
experience in the areas
of political and health
care law. Gonzalez
currently works for AARP
as the director of Federal
Health and Family
Advocacy. He serves as AARP’s chief Capitol
Hill lobbyist in these areas and executes
lobbying strategies to clarify and promote
AARP’s policy objectives. Gonzalez oversees
a team of lobbyists dealing with issues
impacting the 50 plus population.
CAPITAL ONE FINANCIAL
Gomez volunteers for various organizations,
both in Colombia and the United States,
which are dedicated to inspiring Hispanic
youth to believe in themselves while stressing
the importance of higher education. At
Capital One, she is a leader in the Hispanic
Network, served as co-chair for the college
scholarship, and is an active ally member in
the LGBT and military networks.
A native of Colombia, Gomez graduated
with honors in computer systems
engineering from the Universidad Industrial
de Santander and holds a master’s degree

Isabel Villegas is currently
an associate brand
manager at MillerCoors,
focused on multicultural
brand & retail marketing
for above premium and
import brands. She is an
accomplished focused
multi-lingual brand strategist and multicultural
marketing expert with strengths in multicultural market development, brand and retail
strategy, experiential, communications, and
social/digital media strategy.
For nearly 20 years, her experience has
included creating and launching campaigns,
brands, platforms, and leading crossfunctional teams.
Some of her accolades include leading the
retail strategy and execution for Miller Lite,
bringing the brand back to growth; creating
the music platform for Alltel Wireless to help
build brand awareness drive sales; leading
the McDonald’s team and the sponsorship
of the Mexican National Team; leading
Target’s multicultural event strategy plan; the
Samsung’s Galaxy S national product launch.
Villegas serves as a regional director for the
Northwestern University Alumni Association,
and a founding member and advisor to the
Latino Alumni of Northwestern University. She
received her bachelor’s from Northwestern &
lived a short sabbatical in Italy during 2006,
which included participating in the World Cup
in Germany.
