Welcome to our New Clubs! Loganville North Hall High Middle School School Newsletter 2015 Partnerships for success – change your future with us. Sports News Disability Resource Center sponsors Beep Kickball PFS Clubs from Chestatee High, East Hall HS, Johnson HS, Lanier Charter Career Academy, North Hall HS, North Hall MS and West Hall HS all participated in Beep Kickball and other activities on April 17. The events began after Sylvester Story from DRC sang the National Anthem, and Marissa Shores from LCCA rolled the first pitch Will Crain, Johnson HS, honored at the State Capitol for being a Special Olympic World Game Athlete. Johnson High School PFS Club member Will Crain was honored by legislators on March 19. Will has been chosen to represent our country at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles this July. He’s the only person from Georgia on the fiveperson USA Kayak Team. Way to go Will! Partnerships for Success is funded by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities. Cindy Saylor, Program Coordinator Colleen Lambert, Program Coordinator www.partnershipsforsuccess.com General News Apalachee High School PFS Club members go to prom, two members are crowned PFS Club members Tyler Ozborne and Alissa Wheeler were crowned prom king and queen. Loganville High club members turkey around in November and bake in January To celebrate the holiday season, PFS club members from LHS created turkey wreaths in November and held a delayed baking day in January where they baked Christmas cookies. Leadership in Action North Hall High School PFS Club provides eggstravaganza for elementary students North Hall HS club members filled Easter eggs with goodies, hid the eggs for the elementary students, and helped to find the eggs in April. Members form North Hall and Chestatee High Schools planned and guided a variety of Activities for 8 middle and high school Clubs across Northeast Georgia. Each Club learned about responsibility, team work and conflict resolution when they built a bridge that could hold a water bottle using only newspaper and tape. March 5, 2015. Disability Day at the Capitol More than 125 students from Walton, Douglas and Hall Counties’ braved the weather, saw their state government in action and learned more about the Americans With Disabilities Act thanks to the programs sponsored by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities. Club Members from Loganville HS, Carver MS and Monroe Area HS were recognized by Rep. Bruce Williamson from the floor of the House Chamber. New Manchester and North Hall Clubs recruited new members during their Freshman orientation. C.A. Gray Jr. High School PFS Club members have a movie night and pajama party Community Service News PFS Club at New Manchester High School sport new t-shirts Northeast Georgia Leadership Conference February 12, 2015 Alora Ennis, a senior at Loganville HS was chosen to read a poem by Kathryn Carroll at the Disability Day Rally. The poem, “I (Don’t) Care”, can be found at http://www.abilities.com/community/ adacaring.html. C.A. Gray Junior High School volunteers their time at local soup kitchen After earning money at their craft fair in November, PFS Club members from NMHS purchased t-shirts designed by one of their own! The PFS club at C.A. Gray Junior High prepared food and offered coloring pages to the children at a local soup kitchen in Moultrie Chestatee High School PFS Club members read to little ones at a local pre-school The PFS Club of Cartersville High fills goodie bags for Tapestry Hospice Tapestry Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Bray supplied materials for the Cartersville High PFS Club to fill goodie bags for hospice patients at Christmas Students Michael Holland, Kwan Cooper & Taquan Grosvenor from New Manchester HS carried the banner that led the rally participants in a parade from the State Capitol to the Freight depot. Chestatee HS visited the gallery where they saw Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and watched the senate debate a bill about the takeover of failing schools by the State.
