April – May 2012
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL!
Augusta Ranch has our first Read-A-Thon beginning April 25th. !
The PTSO & staff at Augusta Ranch are very excited to see how
successful we can be in raising money for our school without
support of an outside company. 100% of the funds earned will benefit
our students with purchases for their education. I am very excited
about this and appreciate the time and effort Lyn Honeycutt, our PTSO
President, has put into making this fundraiser a great success for
Augusta Ranch students! With your support, this will be a great
opportunity for Augusta Ranch. We all want to thank you for your
continued support. !
As we are in the midst of AIMs testing and look forward to seeing
how our students do. We have great students who are going to shine
as Readers, Writers, Mathematicians and Scientists! It takes a Village
to raise a child and with your support along with our community and
the great staff at Augusta Ranch, our student are going to shine!

~SCHOOL VISITORS~
We cannot emphasize how
important it is for all visitors
to sign in at the front office
before entering campus.
For the students’ safety, we
are a closed campus and
we must know who is on
campus at all times.
CROSSWALK SAFETY
Parents remind your
walkers to stay within
the crosswalk lines and
to wait for the crossing
guard to instruct them
prior to stepping off the
sidewalk. Thank you!
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year
is up and running. Enrollment packets can be picked up
at the front office. In addition to the enrollment packet,
parents/guardians of new students will need to provide a
birth certificate, current immunization record, and proof
of residency (i.e. utility bill, or rental/lease agreement).
Students must be 5 years old prior to September 1st,
2012. Children who turn 5 between Sept. 1st. And
Dec. 31st 2012 will need to go through the Early
Screening testing. Information regarding this testing
is available at our front office.
Please share this information with neighbors, family, and
friends of incoming kindergartners to Augusta Ranch!
A NOTE FROM OUR PE DEPT.
It's starting to warm up fast! Before you know it, we’re
going be roasting outside. Please remember to put sun
screen on when outside for more than 20 min. Also,
remind our students to have their parents apply sun
screen before coming to school. Very important: drink
plenty of water before you feel thirsty. Good luck and
enjoy the last few weeks of school.

GREAT JOB!
NEWS FROM THE CAFETERIA
As we near the end of the year, we need to
make sure all cafeteria account balances are
up to date with no negative balances.
Starting Monday, April 23, 2012; student
accounts must have the correct amount to
receive a lunch. If there is not sufficient funds
in the student’s account to cover the lunch
cost, they receive a sack lunch which consists
of a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk. You may
still send cash or checks until the end of the
year. Any money left in their accounts will
transfer to next year. If there is any money left
in a 6th grader’s account, it will be transferred
to the junior high unless they are leaving the
district. If you need a refund, please contact
the kitchen and speak to Karri Romney. They
can be reached at 480-635-2011 ext. 4.
Remember, after Monday April 23, 2012 there
will be no more owing lunch money.
If you wish to check your student’s account
balance, please contact Karri at the abovementioned phone number.
Thanks for your help!
~ NEWS FROM THE RATTLER’S NEST (LIBRARY) ~
On March 6th, Augusta Ranch Elementary held
the final Battle of the Books for our 5th & 6th
graders. Our winning team is: Noah Evans,
Tosca Ruotolo, and Elizabeth Nevins. These 3
students will represent Augusta Ranch at the
District Battle of the Books in April.
On March 9th, Augusta Ranch K-3 students were
visited by a guest storyteller. Jim Cogan, a
renowned storyteller, entertained with folktales
and shared a message about the importance of
reading.
The Book Fair is Coming!!!! The Spring
Scholastic Book Fair will be help from May 7 –
May 11. Come stock up on books for summer
reading! If anyone is interested in volunteering,
please contact Mrs. Schaible in the library.
Thank you.
~ FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE ~
The Health Office would like to inform parents that
all medications, including over-the-counter and
prescribed (Epi-Pens, Albuterol, daily medications)
must be picked up BY A PARENT/LEGAL
GUARDIAN by days end Thursday, May 24th.
Please note we CANNOT send ANY medication
home with students. Any medication left will be
destroyed by 09:00am on Friday, May 25th.
.
Arizona is heating up so
flip flops and sandals are back in vogue!
Please ensure a seamless school day for you and
your student(s) who wear them to school by placing
a spare pair in their backpack. Unfortunately, our
closet has a limited supply of shoes and we will
not attempt to repair shoes. Therefore, if a student
shows up with a broken shoe, we must contact a
parent to bring in shoes.
Thank you in advance for your understanding!
Have a fabulous, safe summer!
From Maria Rivard, RN & Becky Sutton, Health Asst.
