Lobster Party is a fun, longstanding tradition at Toledo Country Club. Come to the
party and enjoy live music, dancing, hermit crab races and of course a seafood
feast fit for a king.
Live music will be provided by The Gene Parker Trio. The Gene Parker Trio is a
popular local band known around town for their creative jazz stylings that
audiences are sure to love. Enjoy the light music during cocktail hour, then grab
your partner and make your way to the dance floor after dinner.
Chef and his culinary team will be working hard to prepare this spectacular dinner.
The evening’s menus include; shrimp bar, scallop and clam action station and of
course, whole Maine lobster, plus much more! Be sure to make your reservation
early so we can make the necessary travel arrangements for our lobsters coming in
from the East coast.
Don’t forget to place a bet on a hermit crab. The Crab Races are tradition at our
Lobster Party. The first crab to make it outside the designated ring wins!

MESSAGE FROM
THE MANAGER
Carl J. Miller, General Manager
Dear TCC Family,
June was interesting! It felt like May with cooler temperatures and rain. Each week
seemed to forecast days of extended rain. The blessing for us was that, in most cases,
the forecast was wrong as our event times approached…allowing us to get most
everything in. Hopefully, like June, that is all behind us and we have sunny days ahead.
What’s up, Dock? The answer is a resounding…YES. The docks were way up. The 4”
of rain on June 27th made the Maumee River very aggressive. Boats docked upriver
from the club floated right on down past us…docks included! Some trees, logs,
branches, and pieces of docks also got caught on our docks. Brian Willard and John
Keaver did an excellent job removing debris and helping protect our docks and boats.
Since some other boat clubs had the misfortune of losing a portion of their docks, any
members that need a slip for the remainder of the season, please contact the club.
Under these circumstances (recent flood stage) and after our member’s “right of first
refusal”, we may be able to help friends and family in the community with their need
for a boat slip.
Thank you again to all the members that got involved in the “Friends and Family”
membership referral program. This program added approximately 30 families to our
TCC community. As the saying goes, “All Good Things Must Come to an End”,
therefore July 15th will signify the final day for taking advantage of our “Friends and
Family” member referral program. We will look for other membership promotional
opportunities going forward. Until then, let’s finish strong.
I encourage everyone to stop by and see “a first” for Toledo Country Club…our
Wimbledon Tennis Mixer on grass, July 11th. We will have two grass courts on the
back driving range tee for players to get their taste of Wimbledon. There will be an
exhibition tennis match at 5:00pm played by our tennis pros, Drew Violette & Neela
Kelly, and members, Bob & Cindy Yonker. It should be “brilliant” fun.
As always, if you are interested in hosting your corporate breakfast, luncheon, dinner or
golf outing at the best location in NW Ohio, please let us know. We would like to be
your venue of choice for team building or entertaining clients. It is r eally
important that you know…we will work harder and appreciate you more
Lastly, please look through the entire newsletter and see what’s happening at your club.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best regards,
B UILDING &

GOLF NEWS
Tony Searl, Head Golf Professional
I would like to begin by congratulating Dr. Richard Kelly who
had his sixth hole in one on Tuesday, June 23rd at Stone Ridge
Golf Club in Bowling Green. Collectively the golf shop staff
has zero hole in ones, so Dr. Kelly is 6 ahead of the three of us
combined. Well done Dr. Kelly.
The 18 hole ladies group
needs to be commended for
their efforts on Tuesday,
June 23rd with the Invite a
Friend day that they hosted
at the club. We had 45
ladies who played and
together they donated more
than $300 to the Toledo
Seagate Foodbank of NW
Ohio as well as many
perishable food items. This
18 Holers “Invite a Friend”
truly was a great event and
everyone involved had a great day. I would also like to
congratulate a few of our tournament winners this past month.
Jon Kerl and Ed Durivage were the winners of our 2nd Old Pal
best ball that was held on June 13th. They shot a best ball 64.
Tom Van Deusen and Tom Kelley were our Marty Cromb/Don
Kotnik day winners. The select drive, alternate shot format was
not easy and there score of 72.4 was good enough by two
tenths of a shot to beat out Ken Kuhlman and Rob Crider. The
group as a whole also had a great time on the 19th Hole toasting
Marty Cromb with scotch and Don Kotnik with a Budweiser. It
was a great day. Our Men’s Stag Day winners on June
10th were Steve Dunbar, Dennis Johnson, Erik Dunbar and Don
Yerks.
Our Junior Golf Program is off to a great start this summer. We
have just under 70 Juniors in our eight Junior
Golf Programs, we have 16 juniors signed up
for our Saturday Clinic Series and have 13
Juniors on our PGA Junior League team. We played our first
match on Thursday, June 18th against Heather Downs. Our
Juniors picked up some valuable experience in our first match
that will serve them well the remainder of the season. Most
importantly, everyone is having fun playing golf.
I would like to remind everyone that the sign up period for The
River Cup has begun. The River Cup is our signature Men’s
Member/Guest at the club. This year we have a new format and
a new date. The River Cup will be held Thursday, August 6thSaturday, August 8th this summer. Thursday is going to be an
optional practice round for you and your guest. Friday will be 3
nine hole matches against the teams in your flight. Saturday
will be 2 nine hole matches against the teams in your flight.
We will then cap off the event with the flight winners shootout
to determine our overall River Cup Champions and have a
great awards/dinner program on Saturday evening. We are
limiting the field this year to 48 teams so please let me know if
you would like more information or would like to sign up.
Our Men’s Senior Club Championship will be contested this
upcoming month on Saturday, July 18th. The event is open to
any Golf member over the age of 50 and there will be net,
gross and age divisions. The low 9 gross scores from the Blue
tees will come back on Sunday morning and play for the
overall Senior Club Championship. Sign up will begin on
Saturday, July 4th and you will be able to make your own tee
time and foursome for Saturday the 18th.

MENS SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
MEN’S STAG DAY
Saturday & Sunday, July 18 & 19 AM Times
Wednesday, July 15th 1:00 pm
This tournament is the annual club championship for seniors age
50 and over. There will be gross and net divisions as well as age
divisions. The 9 lowest gross scores from day 1 will play on day 2
to determine the Overall Senior Club Champion.
These member/guest events are once a
month. The format is a 2 best ball net of
foursome. The field is limited to the first
20 teams to sign up. Lunch available
before golf and dinner to follow.

FLAG DAY GOLF EVENT
Saturday, July 4 AM Times
Make the most out of the holiday weekend and come golf in the Flag
Day Tournament. Each player will receive a flag at the beginning of the
round. When you reach par plus your handicap, plant your flag in the
spot where your last shot landed. The players with their flags planted
the farthest win. Pay outs will be 25% of the field for both men and
women.
GIGGLE GOLF
Toledo Country Club has its very own golf giggle. All are welcome to play Saturday
& Sunday. Start time is 8:30 am. Giggle golf is a full -handicap game and email is
used to communicate with players and golf shop. Golfing with the giggle is a great
way to meet members. New golf members are encouraged to contact Jeff LaVoy at
[email protected] or Tony Searl at [email protected] to learn more about golf with
the TCC giggle.
