USEFUL INFORMATION
When you’re ready to get out of town and hit the
road, car rental provides you with total freedom to
explore. Take control of your time and experiences.
Linger longer, here and there just as you wish. No group
departures, no bags outside your door at dark o’clock,
just you and your itinerary in your own time.
Get off the motorways and enjoy the quiet back roads,
villages and towns you’ve longed to see. It’s much
easier than carrying your luggage - even on wheels
- once you’re out of the major cities. Your car becomes
a sort of mobile home for the duration of your touring
- it’s the most familiar thing when your environment and
hotel is different every few nights.
Planning and selecting your vehicle
Please be careful NOT to purchase based on price
alone! The smaller, less expensive vehicles on offer
are very small by Australian standards. Baggage and
shopping do tend to accumulate on long haul trips,
therefore luggage capacity is very important. From a
security point of view, you do not want all your worldly
goods displayed for everyone to see inside the car
either. Please review your plans against the size and
capacity of the cars on offer. For example, if you’re
planning day trips from Florence whilst based at your
villa, a small Group B will be fine. However, if you’re
touring France or Italy we recommend the compact
or intermediate. You will need at least a 1.4 litre engine
for comfortable motorway travel. The wagon is a very
practical option with more leg room in the back and
the luggage area is often covered for security.
Do I need to book before I arrive?
We remember our clients who extended a few days in
Italy direct with the car company and were so shocked
when they were billed more than twice the daily rate
they had paid Tempo Holidays. We negotiate advance
purchase rates based on our substantial volume – and
pass these savings on to you. Please plan and purchase
your car rental prior to travel and save.
What do the brochure rates include?
Your standard rate with Tempo Holidays includes:
• A current model vehicle that meets the size and
capacity specifications of the group booked
• Unlimited kilometres
• Collision damage waiver (CDW) - excess applies
• Theft protection (TP) - excess applies
• Third party liability
• Local tax/value added tax (VAT)
• 24 hour roadside assistance
Your standard rate with Tempo Holidays excludes:
• Fuel – full tank out, full tank in (except 1car1, UK)
• Additional drivers unless specified
• Vehicle licensing fee (VLF) unless specified
• Personal accident insurance (PAI)
• Airport/premium location surcharge unless specified
- this can include central railway stations and other
CBD locations
• Central London’s road congestion fee if applicable
Excess
The standard excess applicable is detailed within the
price panel for each car rental company in each
country.
Insurance
This can be a confusing subject with international car
rental. Collision damage waiver (CDW) means the
client is still liable for a standard excess in the event of
loss or damage to the vehicle. Most car companies
offer a further option reducing the excess to zero. This is
paid locally at pick up. Clients should make their own
judgment about the risk between the two levels of
coverage. There is a price for total peace of mind.
Credit card
A credit card for the security deposit/excess coverage
required by most car companies at collection is
compulsory. This is a security deposit charged by the
car company for their asset of which you’re about to
take delivery. Cash deposits are possible but with more
complicated extra/miscellaneous charges.
The car companies will charge for optional extras such
as further insurances e.g. personal accident insurance
(PAI), pre-paid fuel options – so you do not need to
fill the tank up prior to returning the vehicle. These
extras can be confusing if you receive them on your
credit card bill a few weeks after returning home. We
recommend clients read the terms and conditions of
the rental agreement prior to signing it and take a copy
for their own records. Then it is possible to reconcile all
the charges if necessary.
Car type or similar
Please note that car rental companies never guarantee
a specific car model or type. They confirm a vehicle
based on an international industry standard covering
dimensions, engine size and capacity. They use
examples but do not guarantee specific makes
or models.
Driver’s licence
In all Tempo Holidays drive destinations and for all our
car rental partners, a valid Australian driver’s licence with
photo ID is accepted. An international driver’s licence is
not required (except in Germany, Greece & Italy).
Picking up your vehicle
Tempo Holidays provides you with details for the
pick-up location. The car company will require a credit
card as a security deposit as detailed above. The car
rental company requires you to acknowledge and
accept their rental agreement. This is a contractual

the hire. Your signature indicates that you accept and
agree to their terms and conditions of rental. We highly
recommend you read this document before signing it.
You may be offered additional coverages by the car
company to reduce the damage excess (to zero)
or increase your protection in the event of personal
injury (personal accident insurance or PAI), theft,
loss or damage (super collision damage waiver or
CDW). These products and services are optional and
you should satisfy yourself before signing the rental
agreement thus accepting them.
We strongly recommend you participate in the vehicle
condition check. This is a mutual opportunity for you
and the car company to agree on any pre-existing
damage (marks, scratches etc.) to the vehicle that are
noted prior to you accepting responsibility for the car.
Returning your vehicle
Please do not be more than 30 minutes later than the
drop-off time as it appears on your voucher or contract,
or the car company can charge between a third and
a full day’s additional rental at the local rate. The fuel
tank should be full too, unless you took a pre-paid fuel
option. It is much more costly to have the car company
fill the tank at their rate. Some locations have secured
‘key drops’ if they are unattended at the time you’re
returning the vehicle. It is not usually possible to get a
final receipt at this time and clients are encouraged to
avoid this situation if you do require a closed contract
receipt at termination of the rental. This is not usually an
issue at airports unless it is very early or late.
Driving in Eastern Europe
There are often restrictions about driving a car into
Eastern Europe. Some car rental companies will allow
you to do so, but only after paying a surcharge.
Other car rental companies will not let you take the
car into Eastern Europe at all. If you are planning on
driving into Eastern Europe, please contact Tempo
Holidays Reservations to enquire if it is allowed with
your rental.

Castle Montegufoni is a wonderful 12th century castle, with a magnificent tower
modelled on the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Situated on a large estate with
vineyards and olive groves, the castle is located 20km from Florence near the village
of Montagnana, 4km from Montespertoli. Owned and operated by the Posarelli
family, it has been fully restored to provide rustic, individually decorated apartments
accommodating 2-6 people with private bathroom and kitchen facilities. There are
two swimming pools, gardens and a car park for guest use. Fresh produce and olive
oil from the estate is available for sale in the old cellars of the castle. All apartments
are equipped with basic kitchen facilities and sufficient linen, towels, crockery and
cutlery for the maximum number of people accommodated. Castle Montegufoni is
not air-conditioned and access to some apartments may be via steps.

vineyards. From here it is a short step into the beautiful Jura mountains, in the heart
of the Franche Comté. Two days in Lyon to discover the atmosphere of one of the
most important cities in France and its surroundings. Condrieu lies in the Beaujolais
and Côtes du Rhone vineyard region. You will find more vineyards along the Rhône
Valley to Avignon.

Rental is calculated per calendar day. Both the first and last days are charged. Pickup must be in the morning and drop off must be before
4.00pm. Rental period overlapping seasons will be charged pro-rate for each season. Rates for 35+ days available on request. Minimum
driver age is 21 with a full license. A compulsory handling fee of $106 applies to each booking which includes your first bottle of propane gas
and toilet chemicals. No drop off on a Saturday permitted in July & August. All models are Manual transmission.
Rates include: unlimited kilometres, insurance, VAT, vehicle kit, cooking utensils, road maps, suggested regional itineraries, outdoor
cleaning after return.
Rates exclude: handling fee (compulsory, see above), fuel, optional extras (see below), one-way rental fees and transfers (available
on request).
Vehicles are insured against damage to the vehicle subject to an €1800 excess. This may be reduced to €300 by purchasing Collision
Damage Waiver insurance.
Optional extras: CDW Insurance (€14 per day), 24 hour breakdown insurance (€5 per day), bedding kit (€20 per person), bike
racks, camping table and chairs, baby seat (€3.50 per day / max charge €75), portable GPS (€10 per day) available only from Paris (an
additional security deposit of €900 is requested).
Strict cancellation fees apply. Any unused days are non-refundable once the rental has commenced. Travel to Eastern Europe is
limited to Poland, Hungary, Czech Rep., Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia and Slovenia. Travel to other Eastern Europe
countries is not allowed and not covered by Avis Car-Away insurance

Day 3 Dinkelsbühl, Nördlingen to Augsburg
Head south to Nördlingen, the only town

02.00 pm at the City Hall. Overnight at

Day 4 Augsburg to Hohenschwangau
After breakfast follow the Romantic
Road heading to the Alps. Stop at the
Wies Church, the most beautiful Rococo
church of Bavaria. The Romantic Roads
ends in Fuessen and only 3 km away is
Hohenschwangau with the Royal Castles.
Upon check-in at Hotel Mueller receive
your tickets for Neuschwanstein Castle.

SWITZERLAND - Avis

day, ski racks 35CHF per rental (not on groups N, O),
baby seats 40CHF per rental. A fee of 100CHF will
be applied on rentals of less than 7 days if returned
to Davos, Grindelwald, Samedan, Taesch-Zermatt,
Verbier on all car groups. Group H not to enter Italy
or the South of France, also applies to all Mercedes
make/models in other car groups. Group J not
permitted to leave Switzerland.
DEPOSIT & PAYMENT
A deposit of $220 per booking sent through your
travel agent is required to secure your booking
within 7 days of confirmation. Final payment is due
6 weeks prior to departure from Australia. Failure to
pay deposits or final payment on time may result in
the booking being cancelled.
AMENDMENTS & CANCELLATION
Before documents are issued: Amendments will be
made only after receiving your deposit for services
already confirmed. One amendment will be made
free of charge. For each and every subsequent
amendment a fee of $33 will apply inclusive of GST.
CANCELLATION FEES
If booking consists of car rental only:
• More than 24 hours prior to pick-up: loss of
deposit.
• 24 hours or less prior to pick-up: 100% total cost.
• Avis Motorhomes France: 45-30 days prior 30%;
29 days or less prior 100%. No refund for late
departure or early return.
If booking consists of car rental plus other Tempo
land arrangements (eg. accommodation, tours
etc):
• Cancellation of car rental component only
more than 24 hours prior to pick-up: no charge.
• Cancellation of car rental component only 24
hours or less prior to pick-up: 100% total cost.
• Cancellation of all or part of Tempo land
arrangements: higher cancellation fees apply,
refer to the relevant Tempo Holidays destination
brochure or our website for details.
If booking consists of car rental plus airfare:
• Any refund will be subject to meeting the
minimum spend requirement of the airfare rules.
NO SHOW
If you do not arrive to collect your vehicle as
scheduled without prior notice, a 100% No Show fee
will be charged.
PARTIAL CANCELLATION
Partial cancellation of confirmed services within an
existing booking may involve cancellation fees for
those services as listed above.
REFUNDS
Once your car has been collected there is no
refund for unused rental days. Refunds are not given
for any service not used by you due to late arrival,
early departure, or by choice. This includes failure
of any transportation such as ferries or airlines to
operate services so as to enable you to arrive on
time to utilise the services booked. Tempo Holidays
does not authorise any overseas suppliers to promise
refunds on our behalf.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Due to the cost of communication and provision
of documents, a charge will apply for the following
services (all prices include GST):
Minimum booking: $33 for bookings of less than 3
days car rental.
Late booking: $33 for all bookings made, confirmed
and documented less than 7 days prior to
departure from Australia.
Document re-issue fee: $33 will apply for any
amendment made which necessitates re-issue of
documents. This may be in addition to any other
amendment fee charged.
Payment by credit card: a fee will be charged on
the value of the amount being charged to your
credit card and will be added to the amount
being paid. Current fees applicable are as follows:
MasterCard and Visa Card 1.5%; Diners Club 2%;
American Express 3%.
Courier fee: Where vouchers, tickets and travel
documents are sent via specialist courier this cost
will be charged to your booking.
Important Booking Information
INVOICES ERRORS OR OMISSIONS
The right is reserved to correct any errors in
rates quoted or calculated for any service,
notwithstanding that the invoice may have been
paid in full. All confirmed bookings are issued with
an invoice outlining all services booked. If services
are still on request this is indicated on the invoice. It
is the responsibility of the booking agent to ensure
all details are correct and the client acknowledges
all cancellation conditions.
CONSUMER CLAIMS
If you have an issue with any vendor it is best and
most practical to try and resolve it locally with
the the provider of the vehicle. If you have an
unresolved complaint this should be documented
and put to us in writing within 30 days of the use of
the vehicle.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

“The Company” means Tempo Holidays Pty Ltd.

BROCHURE CONTENT
Every effort has been made to ensure that the
brochure is accurate at the time of printing and The
Company shall not be liable for any injury, damage
or loss caused by any unintended inaccuracy. If for
reasons beyond The Company’s control, and if
The Company determines in the interest of
safety and security to change your package
arrangements, and/or accommodation, either in
whole or in part we reserve the right to do so, and
will endeavour to provide alternative arrangements
of the same standard as that originally booked.
GST PROVISION
GST does not apply to air and land arrangements
consumed overseas e.g. coach tours, hotel
COMPANY RESPONSIBILITY
Tempo Holidays Pty Ltd is not itself a carrier or
hotelier, nor do we own aircraft, hotels or coaches.
The services that The Company supplies consist
of arranging and coordinating accommodation,
tours and transfers, making bookings and issuing
vouchers to be redeemed by suppliers. We exercise
every care in the selection of reputable airlines,
tour operators, coach operators, hotels and other
suppliers of the various travel services used in
these tours. It is important to note, therefore, that
all bookings with Tempo Holidays are subject to
the terms and conditions and limitations of liability
imposed by airlines, coach operators, hoteliers, and
other service providers including but not limited
to shipping, rail, car hire and restaurant operators,
whose services we utilise, some of which limit or
exclude liability in respect of death, personal injury,
delay and loss or damage of baggage.
We always do our best to ensure that your holiday
arrangements are satisfactory, and we accept
liability for, but only to the extent of, any loss or
damage sustained by you as the result of our
negligence, or that of our employees or agents.
However The Company does not accept any
liability of whatever nature for the acts, omissions
or default whether negligent or otherwise, of those
airlines, coach operators, shipping and cruise
companies, hoteliers or other persons providing
services in connection with your tour arrangements
pursuant to a contract between themselves and
yourself (which may be evidenced in writing by
the issue of a ticket, voucher, coupon or the like)
and over which The Company has no direct and
exclusive control.
The Company does not accept responsibility in
contract or in tort (actionable wrong) for any
injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expenses or
inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by
force majeure or other events which are beyond its
control, or which are not preventable by reasonable
diligence on the part of The Company, including
but not limited to war, civil disturbance, fire, flood,
unusually severe weather, acts of God, acts of
Government or any other authorities, accidents to, or
failure of machinery or equipment, or industrial action
(whether or not involving our employees and even
though such actions may be settled by acceding to
the demands of a labour group).
CLIENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY
You should familiarise yourself with any health or visa
requirements that may be applicable in the areas
that you intend visiting, and you shall be responsible
for all entry, exit, health and other documents
required by law, regulations, orders, demands or
requirements of the countries visited or transited.
You shall carry a valid passport at all times. Passport,
visa and vaccination requirements are not our
responsibility and we are not liable for any loss or
expense due to your failure to comply with the
above. It remains your responsibility to ensure that
these documents are in order and to meet any
additional costs incurred (whether by the client
or by Tempo Holidays on the client’s behalf) as a
result of failure to comply with such requirements.
You accept that you may be travelling through
areas of political or climatic instability, high altitude
and remote areas without proper medical services,
and accept the associated risks. The making of a
booking constitutes your acceptance of all booking
terms and conditions as described herein and forms
the basis of your contract with Tempo Holidays.
AGENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY
A It is your Agent’s responsibility to advise us of
any special requirements you may have and to
communicate to you any changes or alterations
advised to your Agent by The Company.
B No representation made by your Agent to you
concerning the quality, location, or any other
matter in relation to the services and facilities
provided by The Company shall bind The Company
unless your Agent has been expressly or impliedly
authorised by us to make such a representation.
