Special presentation to the foreign community
of Mazatlan and southern Sinaloa
Thanks for letting us be with you. It is an honor.
Thanks for letting us be with you. It is an honor.
We are promoters of Sinaloa and Mazatlan. The work that we
have been doing for more than 16 years is done through many
different mediums. Our principal medium is the magazine
Mazatlan Interactive and the web page

7 years ago we formed a committee of special events and we work on creating
events that will give Mazatlan an international image and more cultural character.
After putting on the Photography Symposium over the last 7 years, it has become
the most important photography symposium in NW Mexico. We impart master
workshops and conferences, photography expositions and cultural interchanges.
We invite the best photographers from Mexico as well as Cuba, Argentina and
Brazil.
We achieved our goal. With honorable satisfaction, we are already classified by
some experts as one of the best in all of Mexico and well on our way to being the
best in all of Latin America,
For the 2011 edition of our Photography Symposium, we are not only thinking about
celebrating it on its traditional dates of October 27th to 30th, but also all year long.
Prior to the symposium, there will be other events. Two of them have already taken
place:
1: The First “Official Poster” Conference for the Photography Symposium. In January
of 2011, we had a national announcement to all the universities that feature graphic
design majors. It was so successful that we had overwhelming participation and had
some super quality submissions, so many, in fact, that we had to have an “honorable
mention” category in addition to the winning entry.
2: The second event we carried out was a presentation of the book “Haiti: Island
Panic”. The author is a friend, photographer and collaborator with the Photography
Symposium who, just three days before presenting the book in Mazatlan, received
the 2010 King of Spain Photography Award from the hands of King Juan Carlos and
Queen Sofia of Spain for an image that is in this book.

Announcement for the Collective
Exposition of Sinaloan Photographers
3: This past May 2nd, we invited all Sinaloans to participate in this exposition with the
hope that we could adequately present images of Sinaloa’s tourist, cultural and
ecological character. We want to clarify that this is not a contest, but rather an
invitation to participate in a collective exposition. When we say Sinaloans, we mean
those who are born here or are residents by “adoption”, as is the case with the entire
community of foreigners who live in southern Sinaloa. We consider you all to be
Sinaloans and you are cordially invited to participate.
The invitation closes on June 6th, 2011. The selected photographs will be part of a
sensational exposition that will be held along the malecon in the open air. It will
begin at the Fisherman’s Monument and extend north as far as it can, there is no
limit.
The motive for being with you is to ask for your support so that we can make this
exposition the most important and visited in Mazatlan during the summer season.
The exposition is programmed each year, beginning on July 15th and will run
through the end of August.
You will remember that the first event we did was the poster contest and from
this event came the image of the Photography Symposium for 2011. The image
was also used on the official event tee shirts for the event.
What are we asking for? Appealing to your great sense of collaboration, we ask
that you help us out by buying official event tee shirts for yourselves and your
friends. They cost 100 pesos each. This is a good deal and the tee shirts are
wonderful. By wearing them you will help us advertise the event.
We need some help since each image that is staged and exhibited in the event costs
1, 500 pesos. What we offer in exchange, is simply that we will form a brotherhood
to put on an event that Mazatlan and Sinaloa need. Thus we will contribute to
improving our futures and the quality of life for all Sinaloans.
