Dikeledi Mohapi (33), from Section K, told Daily Sun she has been
married for more than five years
and had given birth to three children.
“My husband had lost interest in
me,” she said.
“We no longer made love. And
he would often complain about my
punani.”
She said she even considered
leaving her husband but a friend
told her about the soap.
Dikeledi said she used the soap
for a week and then seduced her
husband.
“He wasn’t in the mood but we
still made love. From that day, my
husband changed and become a
good man for me. I hardly have
time to rest as he is always ready
for action.
“But I’m not complaining. He
apologised and often tells me he
loves me.”
Another customer, Mpho Molatodi (44) said she used to catch her
husband with other women but after using the soap, her 55-year-old
husband only sings her praises.
“He tells me I remind him of
when we first met 15 years ago.
This soap really saved my marriage.”
Happy husband Thapedi Mmuso (37) said he bought the soap for
his wife, Nthabiseng Mmuso (35).
“When my wife runs out of the
magic soap I buy it myself.”
He said when he realised her
punani felt different he praised his
wife of nine years for her bravery.
“It has changed me. I used to
cheat but the woman I was cheating with used to leave me penniless. Now we spend money only in
our family and our marriage is
stronger than it ever was.”
A hawker, Nokufa Tseane (60),
said she started selling the soap
about two months ago.
“I sell many different products
so I decided to try the soap and it
is one of my best sellers. It sells like
hot cakes and I have to carry a lot
of stock.
“Recently, one of the regular clients told me what she used the soap
for. I am glad it is able to save marriages.”
Sangoma Mokone Mokone said
if the soap contains special muthi
it is possible that it works because
there are many strong muthis used
to tighten punanis.

ECONOMY CLIMBS! Manufacturing and mining are up BIG
By DOREEN MOKGOLO
SOUTH Africa’s economy is
showing signs of recovery after a
difficult time!
The gross domestic product
improved by 3,3% in the second
quarter of this year, reducing
fears that the country was
heading for a recession.
Stats SA deputy director-general
Joe de Beer, on behalf of
statistician-general Pali Lehohla,
presented the latest financial
figures at a media briefing held in
Tshwane yesterday.
The increase comes after the
gross domestic product dropped by
1,2% in the first quarter of the
year.
De Beer said that the main
contributors to the improvement
were in the manufacturing sector
and the mining and quarrying
industries.
“The manufacturing industry
increased its output by 8,15%.
“This was as a result of the
higher production of fuel and
chemical, rubber and plastic
products.
“Positive contributions were
also made by the manufacturers of
motor vehicles, parts, accessories
and other transport equipment.
“The mining and quarry sector
grew by 11,8%, largely because of
the higher production of the
platinum group of metals.”
He said agriculture, forestry
and fishing showed a decline
of -0,8%.
“Electricity, gas and
water production has
decreased by -1,8%,”
he said.
De Beer said real
expenditure on
the gross
domestic product increased
by 3,4%.
“Household final
consumption expenditure
increased by 1%.”
The main contributors to
growth were in various
goods, services and health
services.
Government’s final
consumption expenditure
increased by 1,3%.
Land improvements,
machinery, the construction
of roads and railways,
however, had decreased by
4,6%.
De Beer said net exports
contributed positively to the
total expenditure. Exports
increased by 18,1% due to
higher export levels of
precious metals, vehicles
and transport equipment.
Imports, on the other
hand, decreased by 5,1%.
Minister was wrong to suspend McBride!

By MFUNDEKELWA MKHULISI
SUSPENDING Robert McBride
was unconstitutional.
This is the ruling of the Constitutional Court about the suspension
by Police Minister Nathi Nhleko of
Robert McBride, head of the independent police investigative directorate.
In the decision by acting Judge
Lebotsang Bosielo, but read by
Judge Chris Jafta in Joburg, the
court found the manner in which
Nhleko dealt with McBride
showed how strong the minister’s
powers were. Jafta said the situation was made worse because
Nhleko acted by himself.
He said as the directorate is the
watchdog over the police, it was
necessary for it not to experience
any interference by the minister.
He said in recent years there
have been allegations of police
brutality and killings perpetrated
against civilians.
“These are very serious matters
that affect the public,” said Jafta.
“Naturally, the public has a direct interest in seeing these matters being vigorously pursued and
properly investigated.”
The court gave Parliament 30
days to decide whether it still
wants to continue with disciplinary action against McBride.
McBride told reporters outside
court that the judgment restored
respect for the rule of law.
“I hope there’s a lesson learnt,
especially for the executive, in particular the minister, on how not to
govern and how not to interfere
with independent organisations.”
He said as soon as the 30 days are
over he would like to get back to
work and start stabilising the directorate.
McBride was suspended last
March on allegations that he had
covered up the alleged involvement of senior Hawks officials in
the unlawful deportation of five
Zimbabweans.

PEEPING TOM!
Refilwe lives in fear of stalker
Refilwe Sehlare said the man looks through a hole in her shack to see her underwear.
By NTEBATSE MASIPA
REFILWE Sehlare says a man
has been stalking her for four
scary years.
The 37-year-old from Tshepisong, near Kagiso in Mogale City,
told Daily Sun the man was so
obsessed with her, he sometimes
peeped through a hole in her
shack and then called her to say
he knew what colour her panties
and bras were.
She has opened three cases
with the cops, but the man was
never arrested.
However, he went too far on
Sunday and was caught and
moered by residents.
“We close the hole with tape
but he just pierces it. I live in
fear because he once told me he
would only rest when I was
dead,” said the mother of two.
Refilwe, who is currently pregnant, said she even applied for a
protection order against the
stalker.
But he continued waiting for
her at the taxi rank early in the
morning when she left for work.
Refilwe said the man was
moered so badly by the community last year he ended up in
hospital, but he continued to
harass her.
“He used to buy gifts for my
children when he saw them, but
I never realised he was trying to
get close to them. People like
him because he’s friendly, but
he’s sick,” she said.
The SunTeam approached the
man, whose name is known to
Daily Sun, and he admitted to
being moered on Sunday.
“I have a right to walk wherever I want. That woman is not
going to stop me,” he said, adding that he still loves her.
Police spokesman Captain Solomon Sibiya advised Refilwe to
go to the police with her case
numbers so they can decide how
best to help her.

THE musicians are so grateful they
are throwing a big party to thank
the public broadcaster.
The Thank You SABC Music Concert will take place at Orlando Stadium, Soweto, on Saturday.
The aim is to celebrate the public
broadcaster’s decision earlier this
year to implement a 90% local music content policy.
The show will start at 10am and
last until late.
One of the event organisers, poet
Mzwakhe Mbuli, was excited as he
spoke to Daily Sun.
“We are heading for a sold-out
show.
“There are so many artists and
record companies that want to participate.
“The programme is packed,” said
Mbuli.
“The response has been very
humbling from all quarters.
“We could have filled FNB Stadium. If all goes well, we might move
the show.”
The public broadcaster has also
issued a statement supporting the
concert.
Hlaudi Motsoeneng, SABC chief
operating officer, said: “This is very
important to the public broadcaster.
“Part of our mandate is to tell the
South African story, and music
plays an important part.”
The event organisers are giving
away 1 000 tickets to valid TV licence-holders.
The concert will feature jazz,
maskandi, hip hop, scathamiya and
other traditional music.
The line-up for the concert includes DJ Black Coffee, Doc Shebeleza, Don Laka, Mafikizolo, Rebecca
Malope, Stimela, Nothembi, Riky
Rick, Ihhashi Elimhlophe, Deborah
Fraser, Babsy Mlangeni, Candy,
Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove and
Kwesta.
Other legends like Dan Nkosi,
Freddy Gwala, CJB, Condry Ziqubu,
Blondie Makhene and Zizi Kongo
will also be there.
All in all, there will be more than
180 artists at the event.
Mbuli said record companies have
pledged to bring their artists and
foot the bill themselves.

Mandoza back in hospital
By SUN REPORTER
KWAITO veteran Mduduzi “Mandoza”
Tshabalala is reported to be back in hospital, fighting for his life.
“A great son of our Mzansi soil is in
trouble,” said a statement released by
his friend and producer Gabi le Roux.
The statement says doctors and medical staff are trying whatever they can to
help him.
“We are not giving up hope for his recovery,” said Le Roux.
He asked that friends and fans pray
for him. “Beckon the ancestors and keep
him in your thoughts during this time.
Please also be respectful and careful in
how you react to this announcement.”
Mandoza was diagnosed with cancer
last year, but with the support of his
wife Mpho Tshabalala, his family and
doctors, he recovered enough to go
home.
The statement included details about
the musician’s life.
Mandoza was born in Zola, Soweto
and shared a house with his mum, his
grandparents and two sisters.
“He never knew his father and his
mother claimed he was murdered the
same year Mandoza was born.”
As a 16-year-old he went to prison for
18 months for stealing a car.
After leaving jail he formed the group
Chiskop with his three childhood
friends, S’bu, Siphiwe and Sizwe.

Mandoza uses his music to encourage

success to his mentor, Glenn Morris,

Tutu undergoes minor surgery
By AYATOLAH SEPTEMBER
ARCHBISHOP Emeritus Desmond Tutu
(84) will undergo a small surgical procedure today.
According to the Leah and Desmond
Tutu Foundation, the archbishop has
continued to respond well to treatment
for a recurring infection.
He was admitted to a Cape Town hospital about three weeks ago.
Tutu’s daughter, Mpho, said her father’s current treatment for infection is
not related to his prostate cancer, which
he has been battling for the past 16
years.
People are still continuing to send
prayers and get-well wishes to him.
John Ndaba from Cape Town said: “I
hope everything will go well. Our
prayers are with him and his family during this time. With the care he is receiving, I am sure everything will be fine.”
Tutu’s wife, Leah, expressed the family’s gratitude to all those who are holding her husband in their prayers.
“The archbishop will undergo a small
surgical procedure to address the root
cause of the treatment. Updates on his
condition will be released through the
media as appropriate,” she said.

CARS BURNT AT UNIVERSITY!
Student protest takes ugly turn
Six vehicles were set alight at the University of KwaZuluNatal’s Westville campus on Monday night. By THABISILE KHOMO and ZIMBILI VILAKAZI
HAVOC is once again the order of the
day at the University of KZN’s,
Westville campus in Durban.
Over 200 students went on a protest on
Monday, complaining about the hike in
study fees and lack of student residences.
The students allegedly torched six
vehicles and vandalised a building. There
were no lectures yesterday.
But SRC general secretary Philani
Ntshobeni said the fee hike issue has not
yet been officially announced.
“A meeting to discuss this issue is set
for 19 September.”
Two students were arrested and
charged with public violence and
contravening a court order yesterday.
Confirming the arrest, KZN police
spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani
Zwane said: “The students will appear in
the Pinetown Magistrates Court soon.”
UKZN spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said
the protest resulted in the institution
suspending lectures on all its six
campuses. “No exact details on the extent
of the damage are available yet,” he said.
‘Mob justice’ accused are free for now
By KGALALELO TLHOAELE
FOUR people accused of committing murder and mob justice were
released on Monday.
This was after residents of zone
14 in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane,
marched to the local magistrates
court demanding their release.
Mpho Cebisa (27), Tshepo
Ndlovu (38), Phineas Koope (46) and
Thabang Mokgadi (27) were arrested last week after being accused of
killing three foreigners. The victims had allegedly broken into
three houses on 25 August and stolen clothing, sound systems, TVs,
IDs and kitchen appliances.

uMshwathi Municipality, northern KZN
torched the Sassa office, three social
development vehicles, the municipality’s
bulldozer, a Toyota bakkie and a water
tank belonging to the transport
department.
The residents are angry because the
council failed to replace their councillor.
Residents accused ANC officials of fooling
them when they allegedly promised to
replace the councillor after the first
council meeting on 22 August.
Zwane said: “Charges of malicious
damage to property and public violence
were opened at New Hanover Police
Station. No arrests or injuries were
reported.”
KZN MEC for co-operative governance
and traditional affairs Nomusa DubeNcube said the damage caused by torching
in uMshwathi is estimated at R10 million.
ANC provincial secretary, Super Zuma
said: “These people are just a minority that
doesn’t know what it wants, because they
said themselves that the councillor won,
meaning the majority wants him.”

Tumi said they intended to set an

that anyone who stole would suffer
the same fate.
“They were beaten with stones,
sticks and anything residents
could lay their hands on. When the
police and ambulance arrived they
were already dead,” he said.
During the four’s court appearance the SunTeam found residents
chanting outside the court, demanding that they be arrested too.
Shortly after, the four were released and the crowd celebrated.

THE South African National Defence Force has suspended 27 people, including eight civilians, for
allegedly defrauding the army.
The employees were based at
Karee Army Support Base in Polokwane, Limpopo, and are believed to have defrauded the army
of about R6 million.
The officials, who were working with people in the procurement section, allegedly demanded payments when tenders were
awarded to businesses.
The suspects allegedly built
mansions for themselves and
bought luxury cars with money
allocated to army events.
Their sudden wealth drew attention and an investigation was
launched.
They were suspended due to the
serious charges against them.
SANDF spokesman BrigadierGeneral Xolani Mabanga confirmed the members had been
placed on special leave.
“The chief of the SANDF has
placed 27 members working at the
army support base in Polokwane
on leave to allow further investigations into the allegations of
fraud and corruption against
them,” he said.
The suspended officials include
among them 19 uniformed members from the base.
It is alleged they also stole food
parcels meant for army events,
and it appears the scam had been
going on for years before it came
to the attention of management.
Colonel Ronald Maseko said the
members would remain on special leave until the investigation
had ended and recommendations
were made.
“The outcome of the investigation will reveal how long this has
been going on.
“We want our team to gather
enough evidence for us before we
take further steps.”

HOUSE OF GUNS BUST!
Dark secret finally comes out
Cops examine some of the explosives found at a house in Strubenvale yesterday. By SIFISO JIMTA
FROM outside it looks just like
a normal, quiet house. . .
But the building in the quiet
suburb of Strubenvale, Ekurhuleni, was hiding a dark secret no
one expected.
After receiving information
about what the house was actually being used for, several police
units swooped on it yesterday and
found it was crammed with fire-
arms and illegal explosives!
The SAPS arrested a man for
possession of military explosives
following a tip-off from the Ekurhuleni Metro police.
The cops raided the house and
found dozens of explosives being
stored in the garage.
Among the explosives were
rocket launchers, grenades, teargas, ground explosives and mortar bombs.
Ammunition and military uniforms were also stored in the garage. Photos by Trevor Kunene
Forensics experts were also at
the scene and found more explosives and military uniforms.
The suspect was taken to Benoni cop shop and charged with
possession of illegal explosives.
He is expected to appear in the
Benoni Magistrates Court soon.
Police spokeswoman MajorGeneral Girly Mbele said: “Explosives discovered at the house are
used only by the military.”
Cops got a tip-off only about
AK47s rifles and ammunition,
but they found more than that.
“We have arrested one person
on charges of illegal possession of
explosives and firearms.
“We can’t confirm what the explosives were going to be used for,
but police are still investigating.”
Jimmy gets the shock of his life! UCT’s Price By MISHECK MAKORA
JIMMY the builder used to
travel with his construction
equipment by train and never had any problems.
But yesterday morning
Jimmy almost got a construction job in heaven! He
had a brush with death when
a 2,5m steel pole he was carrying touched overhead
wires at Cape Town Station.
A loud bang was followed
by sparks and the builder fell
flat on the platform. At first
onlookers thought he was
dead, but after 10 minutes
Jimmy (37) raised a hand!
The builder from Kraaifontein, identified only as
“Jimmy”, arrived by train
from Worcester at 7.55am.
He was making his way between coaches to allow for
the steel pole, used for plastering, when it touched highvoltage wires overhead.
His friend and co-worker,

“I do not know what happened.
“It was not the first time he
had carried the pole on the
train. He has never made
such a dangerous mistake.
We use the pole to plaster.
“If he died, it would have
been very hard for his wife
and child. I hope he will be
able to go back to work soon.”
People said Jimmy cheated
death only because he was
wearing rubber safety boots.
Metrorail spokeswoman
Zinobulali Mihi said he sustained minor injuries: “An
ambulance was called to take
him to hospital.
“Our investigating team

MEC: Official must explain his actions

THE administrator of the
Thabazimbi Municipality must explain why he
failed to resolve the financial shambles there.
That was the vow of cooperative, human settlement and traditional affairs MEC Makoma Makhurupetje,
after
the
confiscation of everything from desks to computers at the municipality two weeks ago.
The previous Thabazimbi government was
placed under administration and left the new local
government with R400
million debt.
Soon after the newly
elected government took
office, the sheriff of the
court confiscated every-
thing at the municipal offices except the files.
“The administrator in
Thabazimbi has a duty to
compile a report on what
happened at that municipality,” said Makhurupetje at a recent meeting
with mayors in the province.
“I will visit all municipalities, checking what
they are doing in terms of
service delivery and the
first is Thabazimbi.”
She said they will check
on the allocation of funds
to the municipality.
“We can’t allow them to
disrupt service delivery.”
Departments and state
organisations are believed to owe municipalities in the province about
R200 million.
