Year 5 2015 Camp Memories
Year 5 2015 Camp Memories “During team challenge I learnt to trust people I don’t really know that well. The high ropes helped me overcome my fear of heights. I went on a rope called ‘The Snake’.” – Mandy, 5E “It was interesting how close we could get to the kangaroos and wallabies. They’re wild animals, but the ones at camp were quite tame. “ - Logan P, 5B “I faced my fears during the Giant Swing activity. I went to 20m in the air and swung back and forth. It was fun, but leaving camp wasn’t.” – Brayden, 5C “Rock climbing was fantastic! I got to the top which surprised me as it was higher than I thought I’d go. Mr H had us singing ‘Spider Man, Spider Pig’ on the way up. It was hilarious!” – Charlotte, 5/6A “It takes a lot of courage going up 20m in the air for the G swing, but once you pull the rope, all your fears seem to melt away.” – Kelsey, 5/6A “The tents were warm at night while it was freezing outside, and the mattresses were cosy.” – Billy H, 5C. “Archery was my favourite activity. It was the first time I got to see and touch a real bow and arrow!” – Bella N, 5C. “I liked mountain biking the most. The ascent was challenging, however going down was fun because I was doing skiddies – slamming on the brakes and then gliding.” – Oscar, 5/6A “My favourite activity was the high ropes. There was a giant red ball. We had to jump on it and sing, ‘I came in like a wrecking ball!’ It was awesome!!” – Will, 5D. “The high ropes were scary and it felt like we were walking on thin air.” – Zak, 5D. “It took 40 minutes to get there so we had a chance to look at the landscape and wildlife. We saw many kangaroos and birds.” – Caitlyn, 5C. “When we arrived it looked completely different to what I had imagined. The tents were not just normal tents, they were huge, green tents, big enough to put 10 girls in!” – Kyra, 5C. “’Beep, beep!’ The bus was waiting for the Year fives and everyone was really excited. I was the first girl on the G Swing. We also did high ropes, mountain biking and team challenge. It was awesome!” – Evie, 5E. “AMAZING! FANTASTIC! AWESOME! These are the only words that can explain camp. When we first arrived my heart was pounding as fast as a racing car and as loud as bongo drums! My eyes were wide as I saw the big, fancy tents!” – Harriet, 5E. “The team spirit was outstanding! When a person was scared, their team mates cheered them on and helped them!” – Connor, 5C. “First camp = best camp! Our destination was Kinchant Dam Outdoor Education Centre. I think it could be quite possibly the best camp I’ll ever go on!” – Graciella, 5E. “I liked archery. I popped a balloon. I also climbed to the top of the climbing wall.” – James, 5C. “As I rode up the hill, my legs went numb and droopy like jelly. But it’s worth it for the really really fast ride down!” – Jessica, 5B. “I liked how the camp teachers and fellow students encouraged me to climb higher and push myself to the limit.” – Atari, 5B. “We all sang ‘I believe I can fly’ when we pulled the rope on the G Swing. Some kids were screaming on the way down, others were flapping their ‘wings’ and swinging!” – Atari, 5B. “I loved the cooperation involved in the team challenge. The prize was the joy of finishing the task.” – Harry, 5B. “I made heaps of new friends and I loved encouraging my team to have a go. We even came up with a name, Just Get Over It!” – Dakoda, 5C. “Archery was the best because I got a yellow which is right in the middle of the target! If I had the chance of going back, I would!” – Brooke, 5C. “The team challenge was great because you got to work in a team and everyone was coming up with great ideas to accomplish the task. My favourite challenge was when the teams had to balance each other.” – Kade, 5E. “Camp was awesome. There were so many activities, but the one that stood out was the G Swing because it gave you an ATOMIC WEDGIE! But if you go 20 metres, it’s worth it!” – Talea, 5D.
