Term 4, Week 9
Principal’s Message
Thank you to everyone involved in our
wonderful Maraylya Christmas Festival and
Movie Night last Saturday night. Despite
the 42 degree temperatures, it was a
brilliant community event that was enjoyed
by all.
This night was made possible thanks to the
tireless work of the Movie Night Committee
members who have been meeting since
February to ensure it was a success. They
have liaised with local businesses who
have generously donated funds, goods or
services towards our school and its
students. So many of our parents donated
their time over the last few weeks and on
the night. We have listed our generous
sponsors within our newsletter.

Dance Group
Congratulations to our junior and senior dancers who performed at last
Friday’s assembly. Thanks so much to Mrs Diane Parsons (Jaxson’s Nan)
for spending so much time every Wednesday and Thursday
choreographing, rehearsing and costuming the dancers. We can’t wait to
see them perform on presentation night.
Red Shield Hamper Drive
Thanks to all who helped raise funds towards
the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Drive.
Thanks to your generosity, we will be
sending the Salvos a cheque for $102.00.
Reports
Student progress reports will be coming home next Wednesday 12th
December. Please take some time to reflect on your child’s progress this
semester and help them to make learning goals for next year.
Vegetable Garden
This week we began to construct the vegetable gardens using the ‘Alive
Project’ funds. The garden will be now placed next to the new classroom
block, where there is a better water source and greater accessibility. Our 6
Year 6 students and SRC representatives were very skilled at constructing
the gardens. They should be very proud of their building skills!
Thank you
Thanks Maraylya for a successful year working
together! Thank you for reading this newsletter
in either hard copy or on the website. We hope
we are keeping you informed of all that’s
happening at MPS.
Thanks also to Liz Giblett for passing on our
information to local media throughout the years
– helping to share our successes with others in
the wider community.
We have another big year ahead of us in 2013, with new curriculum to
prepare for, a concert to perform, changes to our school regions and all
the other things that happen at MPS to ensure an engaging and
successful year for your child.
The best of the festive season to you all.
Have a great break with your families.

Class News
K
Kindergarten has been busily decorating
their room for Christmas. We have written
letters to Santa and made some beautiful
reindeers which we hope to take home this
week. We are still working very hard with
our reading and numbers. Kindergarten
cannot wait until their graduation at
Presentation Night.

The end of the term and year is fast approaching.
We will be sending books and artwork home over
the next 2 weeks. We will still be doing reading and
spelling in Week 10 as well as maths, so that means
homework as well. Please return any home readers
and library books at the end of Week 10. The boys
and girls should be very proud of their hard work
this year and the progress they have all made. I
hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a
safe and happy break. Thanks for being a great class!!!
2/3
Mrs Bennett and I would like to thank you
all for such a productive and fun year. We
have enjoyed teaching all your children
and watching them grow, they have learnt
so much in such a short time. Up coming
events, combined scripture next
Wednesday 12th as well as the Christmas
Choir
performing at Richmond Club and the
Richmond Nursing Home. If anyone can
help with transport, please let me know.
Our term will have an exciting ending, movies at Richmond (The
Guardians) on Wednesday 19th and returning back to school for some
fun, games and a little class party.
4/5
4/5 have been learning lots of different and
interesting facts about Space. We had to
research different topics in pairs such as
asteroids, comets, satellites, planets, sollar
system and many more. Students designed an
information report that will be collaborated with
everybody’s work and put into a booklet for
students to keep. We are nearly finished our
collaging of different colour tones. Everybody
has improved their times tables speed test this Term and some people
have even beat their times by 3 minutes. WOW!
6
Well….. this is it! Our last class news for primary school. Thanks to all at
Maraylya PS for caring for us and helping us to learn all that we need for
high school and beyond. We will treasure our time at Maraylya PS.
Our Year 6 Mini Fete will be held on Friday 14th December as a way of
saying thank you to all and to help us raise funds for our big farewell
evening on Monday 17th December at Pitt Town Sporting Club. Our Mini
Fete will be run using a token
currency, meaning that to be
involved in the activities, you will
need some tokens!
These will be for sale all next week
each morning for $5.00 for a book
of 10 tokens. (All activities on the
Mini Fete Day will cost 1 token.)
Once spent, these tokens will go
into a giant prize draw to be held
after lunchtime on the day.
