Maraylya Messenger Term 4, Week 9 Principal’s Message Thank you to everyone involved in our wonderful Maraylya Christmas Festival and Movie Night last Saturday night. Despite the 42 degree temperatures, it was a brilliant community event that was enjoyed by all. This night was made possible thanks to the tireless work of the Movie Night Committee members who have been meeting since February to ensure it was a success. They have liaised with local businesses who have generously donated funds, goods or services towards our school and its students. So many of our parents donated their time over the last few weeks and on the night. We have listed our generous sponsors within our newsletter. 7th December, 2012 Diary Presentation Night Rehearsal ‘Cool Kids’ Parent Concert Presentation Night – 6.30pm Year 6 Mini Fete Year 6 Farewell Talent Quest 12:30pm Party Day / Last Day Year 6 Farewell Tunnel Staff Development Days 2013 Dates Kinder Best Start Year 1-6 Term 1 Kinder Term 1 begins Swimming Carnival School Photos Value of the Week – Excellence Dates Tue 11th Dec 9am Tue 11th Dec 1pm Thu 13th Dec Fri 14th Dec Mon 17th Dec Tue 18th Dec Wed 19th Dec Wed 19th Dec 2.30pm Thu/ Fri 20th/21st Dec 30th/31st Jan 30th Jan Fri 1st Feb Fri 1st Feb Tue 19th Feb … and Santa, if you’re listening… I would like this one for Christmas! Please take some time to reflect on your child’s progress this semester and help them to make learning goals for next year. Vegetable Garden This week we began to construct the vegetable gardens using the ‘Alive Project’ funds. The garden will be now placed next to the new classroom block, where there is a better water source and greater accessibility. Our 6 Year 6 students and SRC representatives were very skilled at constructing the gardens. They should be very proud of their building skills! Thank you Thanks Maraylya for a successful year working together! Thank you for reading this newsletter in either hard copy or on the website. We hope we are keeping you informed of all that’s happening at MPS. Thanks also to Liz Giblett for passing on our information to local media throughout the years – helping to share our successes with others in the wider community. We have another big year ahead of us in 2013, with new curriculum to prepare for, a concert to perform, changes to our school regions and all the other things that happen at MPS to ensure an engaging and successful year for your child. The best of the festive season to you all. Have a great break with your families. We will still be doing reading and spelling in Week 10 as well as maths, so that means homework as well. Please return any home readers and library books at the end of Week 10.
