Welcome to Fish Creek!
Welcome to Fish Creek, Door County's treasure of art, nature and
adventure. Voted #1 small town getaway destination, Fish Creek truly
is the best that Door County has to offer. Home to famous Peninsula
Players Theatre celebrating their 75th year, American Folklore
Theatre, Peninsula School of Art, Door Community Auditorium and
nationally acclaimed musicians during the Peninsula Music Festival,
Fish Creek is the visual and performing arts center of Door County.
Fish Creek is host to the crown jewel of state parks and Wisconsin's
most popular camping destination–Peninsula State Park. The 3,776
acre park celebrates a variety of family-friendly activities. The park
features miles of scenic shoreline where visitors, hikers, bikers and
cross-country skiers can take in breathtaking views of 150-foot high
limestone bluffs, serene wooded vistas, beaches and a lighthouse.
Fish Creek accommodations provide the comforts of a perfect
vacation, whether you prefer a quiet B&B, resort, cottage or motel
with a pool to host a family reunion or enjoy a romantic getaway.
Experience a traditional fish boil or acquaint yourself with the
diversity of restaurants throughout town. Hop on a trolley, visit a
winery or orchard, or stroll through town and discover the charming
specialty shops and boutiques, open late for your enjoyment.

History
Early Fish Creek settlers recognized the varied
opportunities the Door peninsula offered and took
advantage of the prime water access and inland
bounty of trees. One of the earliest settlers to the area,
Asa Thorp, built a simple log cabin on Green Bay’s
shoreline, purchased land, established a lumbering
business, constructed a pier on the waterfront & built
the second summer tourist hotel in Wisconsin. By the
turn of the 20th century, visitors from Chicago, St. Louis
& Milwaukee “discovered” the virtues of Door County.
Dr. Hermann Welcker’s resort, organized in the tradition
of the European spa, offered a regimen of food, rest &
healthy meals. Within a few years the resort’s guests
were building homes on Cottage Row. Fish Creek was
established in 1857.
For information on self-guided and guided walking
tours on the history of Fish Creek, visit the Noble
House Museum in the southeast corner of the main
intersection in downtown Fish Creek. 920-868-2091.
