WELCOME TO TATE MODERN
THE HOME OF INTERNATIONAL
ART FROM 1900
OPENS
17 June 2016
At Tate Modern you can take the full sweep of modern art in one visit,
from iconic artworks such as Pablo Picasso’s Weeping Woman and
Mark Rothko’s Seagram Murals to the latest performance and
photographic art. Each of the wings across levels 2 and 4 focuses
on a major art movement or theme, exploring it’s origin and how
contemporary artists have responded to these ideas.
Art changes. We change. Throughout Spring 2016 we will be rehanging
much of our free collection displays and refurbishing the building –
we hope this does not impact upon your visit in any way.
Please come back soon to explore our new displays and enjoy
our refreshed facilities.

PERFORMING FOR THE CAMERA
The first major survey of Mona
Hatoum’s work to take place in the
United Kingdom, this exhibition covers
thirty-five years of work that combines
her political and aesthetic concerns,
from early radical performances and
video pieces, to sculptures and largescale installations.

GEORGIA O’KEEFFE
6 July – 30 October 2016
Free for Tate Members and Patrons
Tate Modern will present a major
retrospective of the American
modernist artist Georgia O’Keeffe,
a century after her New York debut.
This ambitious and wide-ranging
overview will review O’Keeffe’s work
in depth and reassess her place in
the canon of twentieth-century art,
situating her within artistic circles
of her own generation and
indicating her influence on artists
of subsequent generations.

CITIZENS AND STATES
Art has often provided a mirror to
contemporary society, sometimes
raising awareness or arguing for
change. This wing is concerned with
the ways in which artists engage with
social ideals and social realities.
