CMS Clever Marine Services Ltd Reasonable pricing for fast and professional solutions R Company background CMS Ltd was founded in 2009 with the aim to provide ship owners, ship managers and other companies in the marine industry with an alternative, price-predictable, fast and professional option to costly manufacturers and consultancy services. We are currently employing eight steady staff members and have a large pool of experienced engineers, engine fitters, NDT-technicians, welders, turners, painters and sandblasters to source from. 2 Services • Overhaul and maintenance of auxiliary and main engines; • UT wall thickness measurement (class approved); • Superintendence and project management; • Pre-purchase and condition surveys; • Insurance surveys (member of IIMS); • ISM/ISPS/ILO consultancy as well as port and vessel suitability studies; • Non-destructive testing services; and • Spare part supply for technical spares. CMS Ltd is ISO 9001:2008 certified Overhaul and maintenance of auxiliary and main engines We can offer overhaul and repair of any engine and have extensive experience with the manufacturers listed below: • MAK; • MAN and MAN B&W; • DEUTZ; • Wartsila; • Hyundai Himsen; • Sulzer; • Caterpillar; and • Yanmar. Our supervising engineers have more than 12 years’ experience as chief engineers and six years as superintendents. We have provided overhaul services for a fleet of general cargo and container vessels of a German owner in the last year, and have carried out overhauls and repairs for other clients. We can offer complete solutions, including spare part supply, logistics and scheduling, as well as just providing the overhaul/repair team. Our management and employees are always willing to go the extra mile, and our aim is to provide the client with a highly qualified and fast solution to the problem. Reconditioning or structural repairs of engine parts are sourced out to qualified subcontractors for which we carry the guarantee. We can dispatch single supervising engineers or teams consisting of supervising engineers and experienced engine fitters/mechanics. Our engineers, fitters and mechanics all have shipyard and/or service experience. For pricing information, please see www.clevermarine.com Clever Marine Services Ltd holds its own library of service manuals for the above-mentioned manufacturers, but can source service manuals for nearly all engine types. 3 UT wall thickness measurement Our company is approved by Germanischer Lloyd, Bureau Veritas, RINA, Det Norske Veritas, Lloyds Register and the American Bureau of Shipping to carry out ultrasonic wall thickness measurements for class survey and repair purposes. Our employees are trained as UT supervisors in accordance with ISO Standard 9712 Level 2 and as UT operators in accordance with Level 1 standards. Our employees are also experienced marine engineers and can use their skills to prepare exact repair specifications, as well as the UT reports required for class renewal or survey. Our teams are completely independent and are not attached to a particular shipyard. We can join the vessel well in advance and can take most of the measurements required by class before your vessel arrives in the dry dock if the scope of survey is known. This gives you the advantage of being able to quote for exact steel exchange requirements. We are using the latest UT wall thickness measurement equipment from SONOTEC, which allows us, due to its multiple echo technology, to measure the wall thickness without destroying the protective coating. Our pricing will convince you – for pricing information, see www.clevermarine.com 4 Superintendence & project management We can offer superintendence and project management services for dry dockings, repairs, conversions and new builds. Three of our employees are certified superintendents who have passed the superintendence course offered by the Isle of Man IBS, which is approved by IMarEST, the Nautical Institute, the Isle of Man Shipping Register and DNV. We are experienced and have expertise in container ships, bulk carriers, tankers and general cargo vessels, but we are proud to take on any challenge, such as routine dry dockings, emergency dry dockings, lay-by and dry repairs, conversion projects, preparing and creating shipyard specifications, etc. Our superintendents are experienced marine engineers or masters who have carried out several projects in the past. Please see the list of examples below: • Exchange of a main engine from a Stork Werkspoor to a Wartsila W38V; • Conversion of a container ship from 1984 to 12000 TDW Bulker with Appendix A, B and C; • Repair of grounding damage/420 tonnes of steel exchange; and For further projects carried out, please see www.clevermarine.com We also carried out over 50 routine dockings in Europe, South Africa, Argentina and other countries around the globe. We are also able to supply fitters, mechanics and labourers such as painters and cleaners who can either be used as riding squad, or attend in shipyards under our superintendent’s supervision. We are proud to say that we are providing this expertise for a competitive and pre-calculable price. For pricing information, please see www.clevermarine.com • Emergency repair of a broken off electrohydraulic deck crane in Angola. 5 Pre-purchase and condition surveys All our superintendents have at least eight years’ experience in ship management and were in charge of a fleet of container ships, mini bulkers and general cargo vessels for a medium-sized ship management company. During that time, we gained vast experience in prepurchase surveys and condition surveys. We have carried out over 35 pre-purchase surveys for our clients and at least 100 condition surveys. We are also able to carry out such surveys in conjunction with possible yard and repair specifications and estimates. Clients use our services to survey a vessel before purchasing it, with cost implication in mind if any upgrades, improvements or repairs are planned. We are also used to surveying vessels close to, or more 6 than, 20 years of age and preparing an economically-driven estimate of necessary upgrades and repairs. We are also preparing our condition surveys, including a list of suggested priorities of the required improvements. This can be used as guidance for the crew and as a control tool by the vessel’s superintendent or manager. Please contact us with any requests, and we will try our utmost to find a fast, competitively-priced and professional solution. For pricing information, please see www.clevermarine.com Insurance surveys Our managing director, Captain Sven Fromm, has been a full, accepted member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying since 2009 and is, therefore, able to act as a representative of owners/managers in insurance cases. It is within his expertise to liaise with the different underwriters and insurers in order to minimise costs, and to protect the owner’s/manager’s interest in any case of dispute. He has represented numerous owners during his marine career. His representations have covered the following situations: • Collisions; • Short shipment claims; • Cargo water damages; and • Cargo mishandling claims (reefer container, wrong cargo care, etc.). He is also able to work for the underwriter or insurer but needs to be approved by the particular underwriter/insurer on a case-by-case basis. For pricing information, please see www.clevermarine.com • Groundings; • Unsafe port cases; • Cargo handling damages; 7 Consultancy services Ships/Ports/ISM/ILO/ISPS We can offer the above services due to the fact that we have three ISM auditor certificates from Lloyds Register, as well as one company security officer certificate within our team. The team has also developed a shipboard safety management manual, including a crewing and manning manual, as well as a ship security plan, which were all approved by DNV and GL. During the beginning of 2013, the team of Clever Marine Services Ltd completed a crewing and manning manual (CMM) compliant to MLC 2006, which already passed MLC Audits under the below listed flags. The MLC compliant CMM can also be easily adapted to suit existing shipboard safety management manuals, in accordance with the ISM code. The team can perform ISM, ISPS or other required audits for our clients, and is also experienced in performing port and vessel feasibility studies and similar tasks. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any request you may have. www.clevermarine.com 8 Non-destructive testing (NDT) Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) is only one discipline in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT). Clever Marine Services Ltd has dedicated its training of personnel to higher UT qualifications and all other disciplines of NDT since the end of 2011. This was the logical next step because of our location in the Isle of Man, which is only hours away from offshore and marine centres such as Aberdeen, Liverpool, Tyne and Wear, Hamburg and Rotterdam, as well as the UK and Scandinavian offshore exploration shelf. In the meantime, Clever Marine can offer the following NDT disciplines for the listed purposes: • NDT/UT technology: weld inspections, flaws and laminations, material testing; Clever Marine Services Ltd firmly believes in the proper motivation of personnel, state-of-the-art training for them and the use of the most modern tools and equipment, resulting in an excellent service rendered for our clients. CMS Ltd currently uses the following equipment for their NDT services: • UTM – SONOWALL 60; • NDT/UT – SONOTEC ST 10; • MPI – HELLING AC/DC yokes and permanent magnets; and • LPI – Helling, fluorescent and non-fluorescent liquid particle inspection chemicals. For pricing information, please see www.clevermarine.com • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI): weld inspections, fatigue and stress cracking and surface cracks resulting from whatever reason; and • Liquid Particle Inspection (LPI): weld inspections, fatigue and stress cracking and surface cracks resulting from whatever reason. 9 Supply of spare parts & specialist tools for diesel machinery Given that Captain Sven Fromm and Ms Jayne Kinley have already worked together for 11 years heading the purchasing department of a shipping company and were in charge of several vessels, which included sourcing spare parts for all machinery and equipment, they gathered a very 10 reliable list of suppliers.
