Plants will fair best with waterings in the

doesn’t cook the seeds or evaporate as i
does when watered mid afternoon.

Rolling Earth
Farm Retreat
2012
WOOFing at Rolling Earth Farm
Retreat in Roberts Creek for four
months in the peak harvest period.
During this time, I created my first
iBook with the media collected
from the activities to save the
neighbouring forest.
Food processing and seed saving
techniques, the importance of community
cohesion and how to work together to run
a farm were some of the lessons learned
during my time at the Rolling Earth.
The Forest
Atrium
2013 - 2016
Site development design and
implementation that includes: building,
gardening, planning and designing
while living on the 5-acre property on
the Sunshine Coast, Canada.
The Forest Atrium is one of four
featured properties in The Smart
Farm Project and the most developed
model that is working with the local
government to legalize tiny homes and
promote living in shared community
while farming on the land.
Hosting classes and work parties, while
experimenting in creative designs are
all part of the site development. The
Smart Farm Project is engaging a wider
community base and features other
designs proposed for collective land
stewardship.

Jean’s Farm
Designs
2015
I photographed and documented
the 9-month long PDC of Mark
Lakeman and Matt Bibeau. Full
recordings of the course and two
videos resulted to help promote
City Repair’s next round of courses.
These Videos, Right where we Live
and Healing Forces can both be
found online.
A design project for Jean’s Farm which was a great collaboration with Stacey Lyn, Matt Bibeau
and Steve Johnson, the property owner. In addition to creating a final design proposal, both site
and garden maps were created which is quite important for the clients as they have regular
classes on the land and need an orientation tool.
Advanced
Mapping
2015
Designed promotional material,
documented and participated in a
4-day Advanced Mapping Course
with Andrew Millison and Keala
Young at Atlan Ecovillage (WA).
Effectively four different plans
for two sites were collaboratively
designed, with a variety of options
for development. Each was filmed
to present and share with the Atlan
board of directors and greater
community.
The Chakana
Centre
The Chakana Centre (renamed
to Star Eagle Lodge) as Gaia’s
Guild’s first client and with it we
were able to develop a cob bench
using on-site urbanite as a base,
a pond using natural clay from a
nearby friend’s land, many plants
locally sourced from farmers and a
garden with an abundance of food
and medicine.
The owner dug with us, ate with us
and laughed with us on the garden
creation. She also lent us her
car and tools. It felt like working
for family and was very much a
community process.
The cob bench was one of the site’s upgrades and the garden design map was a
locating and resource tool for the featured plants.
Education Pathway
including Courses,
Work/Playshops &
Public Talks
Permaculture
Diploma &
Advanced Class
2013 - 2015
Seasonal meet-ups under the
guidance of mentor Delvin
Solkinson was a great method
of maintaining regular contact
with others in their permaculture
journeys.
Working towards a diploma over
3.5 years of study allowed me to
connect with those on the path,
share in what we are all doing
and continue to inspire each
other.
Nearly every session was photographed, given to Delvin and then shared with the class. Everyone
is able to use for their own documentation and some of the images, such as in this postcard and
poster, end up in promotional material.

Certificates
Rin Innes 2012
Delvin Solkinson 2014
Mark Lakeman & Matt Bibeau 2015
Rosemary Morrow 2015
Taking four Permaculture Design
Courses brought new lessons
and new lenses in addition to new
networks and relationships.
Though the core ethics are the same,
there is a lot of flexibility within the
framework to which each teacher
brought their expertise.
Mark Lakeman with placemaking
and governmental engagement,
Matt Bibeau on youth education
and forest service, Rin Innes and
her connections to grassroots
communities, Rosemary Morrow with
her great wisdom and international
experience and Delvin Solkinson
with his dedication to study with
the elders and the advancement of
Permaculture education.
Classes were throughout the Pacific
Northwest for all the instructors except
Rosemary Morrow who co-taught with
Tina Lymberis in Greece.
Urban Social
Permaculture
Toby Hemenway 2013
Mark Lakeman 2013 - 2014
A panel discussion called ‘Cracks in the
Pavement’ in Calgary and Mark Lakeman
teaching with Mighk Simpson
In 2013, I attended a formal
presentation of Mark Lakeman’s
catered to an international
audience of “Crime Prevention
Through Environmental
Design” (CPTED), creating safe
neighbourhoods though design.
Mighk Simpson and Mark
Lakeman taught 2014 Calgary
permaculture community classes
on urban social permaculture
through the core principles lens of
which I documented a couple of
days.
I also attended and documented a
weekend workshop on Urban Social
Permaculture in Van Dusen’s with
Toby Hemenway, the author of Gaia’s
Garden.
Food Forests
2013 & 2015
Attending an introduction to
permaculture on Orcas Island
at one of the oldest and most
established permaculture sites in
North America was a tremendous
opportunity for discovery from
the Bullocks brothers and Dave
Boehnlein.
I also traveled to Osoyoos with
a group to visit one of Canada’s
oldest food forests created by
Richard Walker, who had moved
two years ago into to the city and
showed us his newest food forest
all on what was formerly lawn in a
suburbia-like setting. He then took
us to his 30-year-old food forest
in which every tree had a story.
All images were given to the
course participants. And some of
the images are included in Richard
Walker’s first book..
Natural Building
2012
The Mud Girls of Canada, a
network of women builders on
the west coast that specialize in
using local, natural and recycled
materials, offered a 5-day course
in building a straw bale wall on
Salt Spring Island.
I learned how to mix cob, how to
share chores - including site and
child care with community, how to
operate a rock drill and how clay
slip can be used as sunscreen!
There was also the fundamentals
of laying a rock wall foundation,
how to stack straw bales, how to
use rebar in the supporting frame,
and how to create and apply clay
slip with beautiful insets such as
glass bottles and precious stones.
Working with community to build a straw
bale wall to buffer the noise of traffic on
one of Salt Spring’s main roads.
Eco Education
2013 - 2015
I attended an Introduction to
Permaculture in Calgary with
Michael Becker - Teacher of
the Year recipient for 2008 and
linked his slideshow and audio
presentation to create the second
online documentation of his work
anywhere.
I later had the opportunity to
visit Michael in Hood River at the
school and got to see his gardens,
green house with developing
aquaponics systems and newly
renovated classroom which is also
a commercial kitchen.
In 2015, I attended, photographed
and filmed B-roll for the organizers
at a Robert Gillman lecture in
Seattle that delved into patterning
of society’s history and that of the
environment from a neuroscience
perspective. Robert originally
coined the term ‘ecovillage’.
Michael Becker, during his teacher
training in Calgary and at his middle
school in Hood River.
Robert Gillman in Seattle.
Collaborating on media with Delvin Solkinson and the Gaiacraft collective on a pieces such as a short
slideshow video, designs for Rosemary Morrow and video interviews of international permaculture
leaders that have been viewed in more then 120 countries worldwide.
Photo documentation has resulted in an archive of many thousands of images over the years. The
images are being used for books, course documentation, permaculture education and a variety of
community presentations, promotional activities and for documentation of several community gardens
and ecovillages.

With only six people in the
course, I was partnered with Kym
Chi, the Food Systems Network
Coordinator for One Straw, and
together we made a plan to
further the resilience plans of our
community.
I created a digital design from
some of the group’s creations and
Kym and I created posters for a
Roberts Creek Resilience Day in
February 2016. These posters will
be used as Gaiacraft curriculum
and shared internationally.

Social Permaculture
2013 & 2015
I took my first Social Permaculture course with Starhawk, Pandora Thomas and Charles Williams at Our Ecovillage in Canada.
The 2015 class, with five teachers and six days was really a non-stop People Care intensive. Working as one of the ten
volunteers while also documenting and participating in the gathering of 35+ people resulted in the creation of a slideshow,
with complete sound files and picture book along with a deeper intention with Gaiacraft to complete a larger book.

Training of Teachers
2015
Stepping into the possibility of teaching, this course allowed me to explore different styles of learning and
teaching styles. It also allowed me to co-teach and teach on my own. Together with Delvin and the Gaiacraft team,
we co-created a book, several meme maps for Rowe and Looby and a slideshow of the course to share widely.
Transition Conference,
International
Permaculture
Convergence &
Conference UK (IPCUK)
2015
The Transition Conference was
held over three days in Totnes, and
the IPCUK over a week in London.
I photographed and sound
recorded the discussions and
shared with the IPCUK and The
Transition Network.
I also filmed Sophy Banks and Rob
Hopkins during the Conference
and together with Gaiacraft
created 10 short videos that are
available on vimeo.
Permaculture Magazine also
published several of my media
pieces.
Fiona Ward of the Reconomy group and
co-founder Rob Hopkins during group
gatherings in Totnes. Rosemary Morrow

Events and Activities
Working with
Farmers
2012 - 2015
I worked for a summer at Trout Lake and then at the Winter Market at Nat Bailey
Stadium with Boni Townsend of Lowland Farms. I also volunteered for three days at
her farm in Chilliwak. This taught me a lot about biodynamic Farming and how to
work at the Farmer’s Market.
I also volunteered for the head of the Gumboot Gardens in Roberts Creek, both in
the garden and at the Farmer’s Market
Zero Waste
2012 - 2015
In 2012, as part of Vancouver’s Greenest City Grants, a friend and I created a short film on organic waste diversion featuring Recycling Alternative,
West Coast Lawns and the Food Scraps Drop. The Food Waste video screened at the CoDEV Film Festival at Langara College in 2014 and a short
video interview of a Food Scraps organizer appear in the Neighbourhood Food Network iBook, ‘Harvesting Food Security.’
In summer 2014, a collaboration with local filmmaker Joah Lui and the Regional District was a documentation of zero waste at the Synchronicity
Festival and then the Sechelt dump for a video which now appears online.
I later started a monthly Free Market over four months in Roberts Creek and created media and signage for the event partnering with both Gibsons
Recycling and the Roberts Creek Community Association,
Food Security
2013 - 2015
I engaged 15 food security
networks across Vancouver
and integrated their offerings
into Harvesting Food Security a
cohesive multimedia showpiece.
As a project lead, I supervised the
production and content writing,
edited photos, selected videos
and designed the iBook for the
final presentation - taking a new
and cutting edge technology
and bringing it to the grassroots.
Although the iBook platform is
not accessible by all, the pdf is and
this has been shared widely.
There was original photo essays as
well as a SOYL, video produced.
I also regularly photograph and
document the activities of One
Straw, the Sunshine Coast’s food
security initiative. These include
Seedy Saturdays, Edible Garden
Tours, garden parties, their AGMs
and some of the potlucks. In
2015, we co-created a ‘Dirty Girls’
calendar to help raise funds.
Photographs have been used to fundraise,
as in The Dirty Girls Calendar, and to
document, as in the Edible Garden tour.,
AGM, the Sechelt Community Gardens
and Seedy Saturday.
Placemaking
2013 - 2015
I co-created City Commons Vancouver, a
year-long placemaking and playshop with
Mark Lakeman and guests, partnering with
local instructors, some completely new to
the idea of placemaking. The first course
launched with Mark’s evening public talk
to about 150 people. Our 6-month series
ranged from placemaking and permaculture
to heart-based communication. I documented the full course and shared the material,
one of Mark’s talks was filmed by a camera
crew and shared online.
I created a Pecha Kucha inspired by
City Repair called ‘Village Repair’ for
a community gathering at the local
Arts Centre. I also gave a small public
presentation on Village Building at a
festival in Roberts Creek called Luminosity.
The following year I attended the Village
Building Convergence in Portland and
photographed for City Repair.
I was art curator, writer and photographic
contributor of Reinhabiting the Village,
a published book on placemaking catering
to the festival culture.
Permaculture
Patchworks
2012 - 2015
A few special items of participation
and documentation :
A Quilter’s Legacy
I traveled to Nanaimo for an
evening to photograph and
document permaculture classmate
Lee Way’s exhibition of her recently
deceased mother’s patchwork
quilts and met a number of other
homesteaders.
The Gorge Permaculture
I attended and photographed a
food security presentation for
those in the Columbia Gorge area.
Planting seeds of collaboration
with Roberts Creek Elementary
School
Photographed, attended and
submitted an image to ‘The Local’
newspaper of the event whereby
the school and the community
collaborated to create a garden on
the school grounds.
I also took part in the visioning
process.
An homesteader’s memorial. Waldorf
class pics in the forest. Elementary
School garden visioning in Roberts Creek.
Filming at The Forest Atrium.
Guaranteed Nourishment
Director Joah Lui and I created
a short video with Chris
Hergeshimer, the former head of
the food security organization on
the coast and now best-selling
author of ‘The Flour Peddler’.
Waldorf class pictures
I photographed the children’s class
pictures in the beautiful spender of
the forest.
Film Festivals
Part of my volunteering over
the years has involved working
for Film Festivals. With CODEV,
a community festival at a local
college, I hung posters around
town and tabled at the festival.
For DOXA, I selected all of the
environmental and Indigenous
films and promoted them over
social media and through different
organizations that I am networked
with. For VIFF I worked hospitality.
Guaranteed Nourishment, a collaborative video with Joah
Lui, Jonathan Lee and myself to promote Food Security and
highlight Chris Hergeshimer’s gift of poetic inspiration
Transition
2012 - 2016
I sat on the board of Village
Vancouver for two years and
have been part of the core group
of Sunshine Coast in Trantision
for nearly three years.
My main passions are affordable
housing, economy and media
Localizing Exchange and
supporting Local Business
I am spearheading the Economy
group with SCiT which began
with a trilogy of talks, host
semi-regularly meetings and
co-creating a local community
currency/marketplace together
with a local tech guru that
worked for Microsoft.
I have completed Transition
Training, have documented
events and created a variety
of media and art projects in
Vancouver and on The Sunshine
Coast
Bookmarks2front.pdf
Designs such as a
Community Map, cocreation at Sustenance
Festival, seed packet and
bookmark for promotions
have all been created for
the Transition groups.

The whole project was initiated
because during an assessment
of newcomers to the city, it was
discovered that 33% are lonely.
This was an offering not unlike
social permaculture, which is
designed to engage and include
sharing personal stories from
other newcomers and their

the production company whose
mandate is to give voice to
the Indigenous community,
particularly with respect
to education, health care,
permaculture and plants, and
in the telling of history in to

In one of our largest projects,
I produced the filming of 6
cast members and a support
worker for the Theatre for Living
(TfL) theatrical production,
‘Maladjusted.’ These 7 short
videos were used as a form of
community therapy with respect
to mental health, patient-centred
care and First Nations healing.
Documentation of Reconciliation
in Action, for the first time ever,
brought governmental, nongovernmental and Indigenous
actionaries all under one roof to
develop strategy to change the
dynamics of business.
Official Community
Planning
I was twice elected to what
will be a three-year term with
Roberts Creek Official Community
Planning Committee, a unique
body of citizens that come
together to write ‘Our Community
Plan’ and engage directly with the
local government representative.
On behalf of SCiT I attended two
meetings with a group of locals
deeply involved in their specialties
together with regional planners from
across the coast for a project called
‘We Envision’. It was explained to
us how policies are created in some
of the leading cities- the number of
targets per year, how action items
are evolved and how we as a group
can coordinate them. It was a think
tank of actionaries bridging with
the government in a very dynamic
facilitation process. In November,
we came up with suggestions for
2016 targets for Zero Waste, Parks,
Transport and Climate Change
Strategies.

Planet Repair Institute 8512 SE 8th, Portland, Oregon 97202, 503-‐381-‐5885, planetrepair.org To: Guides, Sages, and Mentors, 5 – 22 – 2015 To Whom it Will Concern, Dana Wilson has been an inspiring and extremely beneficial star in our most recent Urban Permaculture Design Course, which ended in mid-‐May of 2015. As our schedule extends over 9 months, Dana made the most of her travels to and from where she lives in BC, to Portland where we teach. She was fully engaged, providing great benefit to all of us, and her design team, while also providing documentation in various media during the entire process of her PDC experience. Dana was an exceptional presence in the class, focused and supportive, inspiring others to also bring their best. She was always ready to go, clearly gaining a great deal through her own initiative and active participation. Dana made friends the whole time, was mutually supportive with everyone, and did great work within her team project. Her vision-‐into-‐action character is well matched by her tools for creative expression. Taking photographs and video from the class to help make educational media, Dana has enriched and enhanced our program as part of her participation. Over the many months of learning in Portland, Dana has shown inspired leadership and demonstrated qualities of being a mentor, teacher and guide for others. She would make an awesome addition to any learning guild, project, or educational course. In summary, we recommend Dana with our highest praise, regard, and love. She is ready for any next level. With great respect, Mark Lakeman Mark Lakeman Co-‐Founder and Lead Instructor, Planet Repair Institute To whom it may concern,
Dana Wilson recently participated in, and filmed, a series of courses I
taught in the UK and Greece in late 2015. This included a Training of
Trainers, Designed Resilience for Disasters, draft work for Permaculture
for Refugees and a Permaculture Design Certificate Course.
She participated fully in all courses while offering her documentary media
skills to produce material for a series of videos, images and graphics that
she shared freely. During this time Dana also created graphic illustrations
for me, and one I presented to the global permaculture community at the
International Permaculture Conference in London.
Dana is hard-working, passionate and dedicated to permaculture. Her
professional work and presence of quiet focus supported the courses and
the participants. Her shared experience and inspiration from the courses
will be valued by the wider permaculture community.
I particularly appreciate Dana’s quality of work which is exact, engaging
and attractive. I would love to have Dana work full time with me. It was a
pleasure to work with Dana and I recommend her as a conscious and
caring participant in future courses and projects, as well as a professional
documentarian, photographer, and film maker for permaculture projects
and beyond.
With Sincerity,
Rosemary Morrow www.bluemountainspermacultureinstitute.com.au/ gaiacraft
Rarely have I met people with as much intelligence, passion
and dedication as Dana Wilson. She lives her values and
models permaculture in her life more than any one of our
generation that I have met. Through our working relationships she has contributed in countless ways to my work,
both locally and globally. She is one of the only students in
the history of my teaching to come to every single class
on-time and ready to participate. Her presence included key
contributions to make the learning environment and experience better, including professional media documentation
and supporting other students in kind and generous ways
through their obstacles to participation. Through many
opportunities for her to teach, facilitate and lead activities I
have seen the wisdom and consciousness of her unique
intelligence and ability to reach other people where they
are at.
We have collaborated on creating a series of free open
source learning and teaching tools which are benefiting
people and communities around the world. It’s been a real
privilege to work with and learn from Dana Wilson.
I highly recommend her for any position of leadership and
responsibility, she will greatly benefit any workplace, project team or organization that is lucky enough to have her
working with them. Dana is a true visionary and whether as
a teacher, student or media support, she will help bring
whatever she is involved in to the next level. Delvin Solkinson
Winter 2016
To whom it may concern: I’m writing this letter of reference for Dana Wilson, who attended our 2015 Permaculture Training of Teachers course in addition to a Social Permaculture course in which I was a lead facilitator. Dana was a hardworking and dedicated participant who also documented the entire course with photographs and audio files, which she delivered by the end of our time together. I was impressed with her commitment to this work and her ability to learn and contribute at the same time. Her capacity to work through tasks to completion, which also participating in the class served as a profound role model for others. She is subtle and unobtrusive with her camera and able to bring out the best in people. She created several different media pieces by the end of each course that included a photographic slide show, meme maps and audio recordings of the lectures. Within a couple weeks of completion, working together with Delvin Solkinson and her Gaiacraft allies, they delivered an iBook with images, quotes and teachings from each of the courses. These were shared freely with the instructors and course participants. The work she produced is of very high quality and I am very grateful to her for producing these incredible learning and marketing pieces. They are reaching out to a wide audience and engaging new people. They were a real gift to myself , the permaculture community and the world. Dana is a gently motivated facilitator, who is creative, imaginative and insightful in her teachings and media production. Her whole approach to media has greatly inspired me. Not only that, she is a lovely beautiful human, with whom I look forward to collaborating with in the future, I only wish that she lived down the road from me, not thousands of miles away, but that in itself presents new opportunities. I believe Dana will travel far with permaculture and is helping permaculture to travel further, we are lucky to have her. I can't recommend her highly enough as a facilitator, a team worker, a photographer and film maker. Looby Macnamara http://www.designedvisions.co.uk Post Secondary Education
