The Ramada Storax Group
The Ramada Storax factory was
founded in northern Portugal
in 1935 by engineer Francisco
Ramada. The company became a
licenced manufacturer for Dexion
Ltd – renowned UK founder
of the storage and materials
handling industry - in 1958. Their
relationship endured for nearly
40 years.
Independent since the late 1990’s, Ramada Storax
acquired a UK-based company called Barpro
in 2001. Having developed an innovative railmounted storage system in 1968, Barpro was the
pioneer of the modern mobile racking industry and
had continued to hone their invention, becoming
world leaders over the ensuing 30 years.
When the Ramada Storax Group acquired Barpro
in 2001, the company inherited the leading edge
technology and know-how that became the
springboard to further innovative research and
development. Today Ramada Storax export their
systems world-wide and are also involved in the
creation of pan-European EN design standards.
In 2003 Ramada Storax backed the creation of a new trading division of Storax
UK: Storax Racking Supplies. As a stock-holding source of supply-only racking and
shelving for trade dealers in the industry, the business is now a well-established and
respected supplier in the storage equipment marketplace.
Storax UK are Associate members of SEMA and full
members of the Sema Distributor Group.
The Ramada Storax Group plays an active part in the creation of industry
standards with the European Federation of Materials Handling (FEM).
Storax SP pallet racking conforms to EN15512 European legal design standard.
It provides efficient, dependable storage
and can be used with all designs and
makes of fork lift trucks and mechanical
handling equipment.
Frames up to 13 metres high can be
created without splicing, which makes
the Storax SP system especially costeffective in high-bay installations.
It can serve as simple, static adjustable
racking or as the support framework
for more sophisticated applications,
including mobiles, drive-in and dynamic
roller racking.
Storax SP pallet racking is available in 2
upright widths: SP80 (80mm) and heavy
duty SP115 (115mm).
Both variations offer a range of frame
duties and beam sections. This provides
the flexibility to precisely match the
needs of each scheme and avoids the
unnecessary additional expense of buying
a system that is heavier than needed to
satisfy the brief.
A wide choice of accessories can
be combined with the core racking
components to deliver a tailored solution
every time.
Produced with grey frames and red be
standard, Storax SP racking can be sup
bespoke or corporate colours if require
projects, or in a hot-dip galvanised fini
outdoor use.
SP racking is supplied with locking pins
assurance that the beams are securely
the uprights.

SP racking is perfect for use in freezers and chill stores. Depending on
the dew point – ie the expected atmospheric moisture operating range
– the racking may be able to be used safely in a painted finish but can
be supplied galvanised if necessary.
Storax SP racking is a versatile
system that includes a full range of
standard accessories to optimise its
usability.
For large projects, one-off bespoke
fabrications can be designed and
produced to deliver integrated
solutions for even the most complex
scheme.
Today’s emphasis on safe systems of working often requires the deployment of
accessories that protect people against injury while also protecting stock against
damage by fork-lift truck or fire.
Safety mesh or netting protects
and quarantines sensitive and
high-value stock from theft or
damage while also preventing
pallets from being pushed out of
the back of racks into pedestrian
areas.
Upright guards, sacrificial
legs and rack end barriers
protect against damage by
fork truck impact. They
also enhance operator
and pedestrian safety by
creating high-visibility rack
demarcation.
The prominent display of
load notices is an industrywide requirement and
ensures that operators
know at a glance the safe
weight limits of the racks.
Specially-made brackets can be fitted throughout Storax SP
racking to support sprinkler systems when stock needs to be
protected from fire risk, or to satisfy the needs of insurers.
Installing P&D (‘Pick-up and
Deposit’) stations onto the ends
of Storax SP pallet racking means
that dedicated trucks work
exclusively within aisles while
‘feeder’ trucks transfer pallets
between the P&D station and
goods in/despatch points.
This improves pallet put-away and retrieval rates while
also minimising the number of trucks that are operating
in communal warehouse areas, reducing the risk to
pedestrians and operatives.
Storax SP racking is used
as the support framework
for SP Drive-in and SP
Dynamic racking and
can also be mounted on
mobile bases in Storax
Poweracks installations.
