FROM THE PRESIDENT • Lyle Reed
Dear Motorcader:
We are deep into the election season and I’m hopeful that we can get a clearer vision of where the
country and the economy are going when it’s over.
Nonetheless, we have never been busier. The new look of our 2017 “anniversary” model has
been well received. We are well underway testing the proprietary TravelRide© III chassis and are very,
very pleased with its initial performance. It is being built by Spartan to our custom specifications and will
have several important improvements. We were determined not to sacrifice Foretravel’s ride and handling
and we haven’t. Our decision to move in that direction couldn’t have been timelier. NHTSA and the EPA
recently announced their new chassis regulations for the next ten years and 2017 diesel engines have
to meet additional emission tests. Motorhomes were previously exempt for phase I chassis rules, but
for phase II, they will not be. Both of those government mandates are expensive and time-consuming
challenges for small manufacturers like Foretravel. Additionally, our owners will have hundreds of Spartan
chassis service locations should they wish to avail themselves of those choices. One of the changes for
which I had to be convinced, is using the engine brake in lieu of our signature transmission retarder. It is
quiet, more responsive than the retarder as a result of the extensive engineering and computer controls
now available for that purpose and it will have our joy stick. When they go into production later this year,
stop by and test drive one and convince yourself that what I’ve said is true.
We continue to discuss and plan for additional product offerings that we expect to announce in the
next Motorcader issue. I don’t know if they will be available by the time you read this, but you will never
get a better deal on 2015 ih demos, that as of this writing, we have in inventory. In my last letter to you, I
reported that we were making improvements to our facilities. We just put a brand new roof on our general
offices and sales/showroom building and we will be ready for next year’s 50th anniversary “buddy rally.”
And lastly, in the near future, Carolyn Tinkle will be assisting us with interior design for some of our
coaches. She and Jaime Carrillo will be doing our new coach interiors. We recently congratulated Jaime
on the birth of her daughter. Both mother and baby are doing fine.
Safe and Happy Foretraveling,
Lyle

Ahhhhh, spring has arrived. The lawn is green, the flowers
are blooming, and the temperature is perfect. It’s what keeps a
smile on my face for a full month. That’s how long spring lasts in
Texas before we skip right into the summer season. We just enjoy
it while we can.
I had the opportunity to take off a few days to attend the
MidSouth chapter rally since it was conveniently close by in Canton.
I ‘borrowed’ a coach from the sales lot and kept it open throughout the rally for those that
wanted to look inside. It was a good rally. And like all of you, I too enjoy visiting and ‘hangin’
out’ with the ‘family’.
You’ll notice in this issue on the calendar as well as the articles, the dates and location have
been changed for the 2017 Louisiana Grandvention and the 2017 Louisiana Get-Away. They
both will be a week earlier than originally scheduled. The date for the Louisiana Grandvention
will be October 2-5, 2017 and will be held in Shreveport at the State Fairgrounds. The date for
Louisiana Get-Away will be October 8-27, 2017.
On page 41 , you’ll find a more detailed and/or better understanding of the benefits of the
Club Plus option.
One benefit of this membership is the ‘standby service’ in our service department. First
and foremost when calling for your appointment, tell the service writer that you are a Club Plus
member.
The Foretravel emergency call/tech support is not a 24/7 service.
The hours are:
M-F: 8am-5pm 6pm-10pm
Sat: 8am-5pm
Sun 12pm-6pm
During those off hours so you can continue to have assistance, the emergency
phone is forwarded to Coach Net® which most of you are members of anyway.
Within the next few months, we will be gearing up for our upcoming motorcades. Mark &
Donna Crick have an extraordinary itinerary in place for the Washington Motorcade. They are
extremely excited to show you this beautiful state and what fascinating treasures it holds within.
Skip & Gail will be starting the Colorado Motorcade in August. They are also looking forward to
showing you the natural beauty of this state and the unique finds they’ve included in this tour.
Our Grandvention will be here before we know it. I know Merlyn & Jo Dean will have
an excellent selection of seminars scheduled along with delightful entertainment and delicious
meals. All that and a little down time for an opportunity to enjoy the company of each other.
I certainly look forward to seeing you in Colorado in September. Safe travels always.

PRESIDENT & FIRST LADY
Ben & Linda Chism
Rolling down the highway this year has already brought a lot of fun, food,
fellowship and new friends. Since leaving the GrandVention in Indiana, we have
had a fabulous time with Foretravel members and are honored to represent our
Club.
We had an outstanding time on The Taste of Indiana. Skip and Gail did an amazing
job of guiding us through Indiana and providing fun and entertainment. If you haven’t been on a motorcade yet, you
are missing an incredible time with great people.
Central Plains, Florida and California had chapter rallies in December. Linda and I attended the Central Plains Rally
in Branson, Missouri. We enjoyed the sounds and lights of the Christmas season and fellowship with friends.
We spent the month of January in Arizona and met several Foretravel friends along the way. We attended the Four
Corners Rally held in Quartzsite. Kit Farrar and Pete Spahn did a beautiful job providing food and fellowship and we
want to extend our thanks to them for working with this chapter. We also want to congratulate the new President of
Four Corners, Kris Lanning, and his wife Shannon. They will do an excellent job leading this chapter.
MidSouth Chapter held their rally in Canton, Texas. We had a great week there full of laughter, food, shopping,
fellowship and entertainment. Tonya and Brad Heflin hosted the event and did a fabulous job. Brad did an exceptional
job on the grill! Spending time with Foretravel friends is always a blessing and we never go hungry!
Our travels will be slowing down for the expected birth of a granddaughter in May. This may be number 22, but each
one is a special blessing. We will be spending a few weeks in the great state of Texas.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you down the road and encourage you to attend the rallies and
motorcades. It is a great opportunity to see the United States, learn history, and make new friends. It’s a Great Life
in a Foretravel!

SERVICE NEWS
Jack & Bobbie Bradshaw #14800
Hello Motorcaders. Many times when going into a campground, you have problems
getting power to your coach. I thought I would try to explain the short version of
how the AC power works and how to protect your coach from getting damage from
an incorrectly wired pedestal.
Even though the receptacle found in your RV is rated at 120 VAC, the 50-amp
shore power is actually a 120/240 VAC four wire service (figure 1). The acronym
VAC stands for “Volts of Alternating Current” which means the voltage is constantly
changing from 0 volts up to 120 volts positive back down to 0 volts, and then it goes
to negative 120 volts and then back up to 0 volts (figure 2). This happens sixty times a second. This is commonly
referred to as 120/240 VAC 60 HZ (Hertz). The actual electricity that feeds your 120 VAC receptacle in your coach,
comes from the 120/240 VAC breaker panel. This panel supplied with 240 VAC which is made of two 120 VAC legs
are 180 degrees out of phase. This means that when leg-1 of the 120 VAC is going from 0 to 120 volts positive (see
figure 2), leg two of the 120 VAC is going from 0 to 120 volts negative (see figure 3).
The 50-amp shore power cord you use has four number 6 gauge wires rated at 50-amps each. This means
the cord has two 120 VAC , 50-amp legs (hot to neutral) for a total of 100-amps at 120 VAC or one circuit of 240
VAC @ 50 amps (L-1 hot to L-2 hot), or a combination of the two. Wait! If we have 120VAC @50 amps on the red
to white and 120VAC @ 50 amps on the black to white, wouldn’t that be 120 VAC @ 100 amps on the white or
(neutral) wire since there is only one white wire? No, because the two hot legs are 180 degrees out of phase. When
L-1 electrons are moving towards positive 120 volts, the L-2 electrons are moving towards negative 120 volts. This
means if all is wired (phased) correctly, the neutral leg will see no electron flow, that’s why it’s called the neutral leg:
thus no overload.
How do you know when you have an incorrectly wired shore power pedestal? There are two simple ways;
one is to install a surge protector that identifies incorrect phasing and locks out the power to your coach. The second
way is to use a simple voltmeter that is rated to test AC voltage up to 300 volts. If the pedestal is wired correctly
when you test from L-1 to L-2 (not neutral) and the two legs are 180 out of phase as they should be, the meter will
read 240 VAC. When the shore power pedestal is wired incorrectly and the two legs are at the same phase, the test
from L-1 to L-2 (not neutral), will read 0 volts on the meter. This is an unsafe condition because now you can have a
100 amp load on a wire that is only rated for 50-amps. If the pedestal is incorrectly wired or the neutral (white) wire
is broken or burned and not connected, you have just put 240VAC on your coach. In that instant a lot of damage
has happened. This is why you should always test the power first before connecting your shore power cable.
Hope this little bit of information helps you understand how the AC power works and how to protect from any
damage that could occur.
Hope to see you all soon and have safe travels.

For this issue, Tricia is recommending ‘Scrubs Spot

TECHNICAL SUPPORT
& WARRANTY...FAQ’S
Recommended Annual Checks
As time passes by, we all need some type of annual checkup.
This also goes for the motorcoaches we own and drive. It is
recommended to take your coach to the Foretravel service department and have these annuals completed. The following is a
general recommendation of items to have checked.
1. Air seals for proper seating and seal around rooms.
2. Any fiberglass delamination taking place, including any trim and molding for proper seal.
3. A good water test or pressure test, checking for any intrusion of water around windows,
windshield, entry door and roof components, etc.
4. Check tires for damage or irregular wear patterns and steering components for wear or slack.
It is also good to have any general maintenance performed at this time. Foretravel service
department does offer a pressure test for all coach models. The pressure test system works by
applying positive pressure inside of the coach, then spraying a soapy solution on all openings
and seals on the external side of the coach. You may check with the service department for the
charge of this pressure test service.
These motorcoaches are no different than our bodies. Along with a little preventive maintenance
(medication) and tender care, these motorcoaches will last a long time. For questions you may
contact our tech department and they should be able to give you a better idea of areas of concern.
As always happy trails.

POLICIES RESERVATIONS
A $200.00 deposit per event is required at the time of reservation. Full payment is due 90 days prior to the activity start date. A second deposit
may be required and is due upon billing. Reservations may be made by mail or telephone by using your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover credit
card. Failure to make required payments will result in losing your place in the sign-up rotation.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS
If reservations are cancelled 90 days before the event, your deposits will be refunded less any unrecoverable monies retained by vendors from
deposits made on member’s behalf. If cancellation falls within 90 days prior to the beginning of the activity, 20% of the fees paid will be retained
to cover the cost of postage, printing, supplies, bank charges, etc., plus any charges for any actual cost from guarantees and/or deposits made
on member’s behalf. No shows can result in no refunds. All refunds (except in very serious cases) will be charged 20% of the event fee plus
actual cost from guarantees and/or deposits made on member’s behalf. Some special events have their own cancellation policies.
GUESTS
Arrangements and/or registration for all guests should be made upon registration or no later than 90 days prior to the start of any event.
STANDBY LIST
Space is limited on many events. All reservations are recorded in the order initial deposits are received. If received on the same day, they are
handled in a lottery style manner. When a cancellation occurs, the first on the standby list is notified to fill the opening. Do not hesitate to sign up
when discovering there is a standby list for an event. Very seldom have we had any standbys remaining at the start of an event.
SCOUTING AN EVENT
This occurs approximately one year prior to running the event. Pricing and finalizing with confirmation of all tours and attractions for each event
take approximately four to six months after scouting is completed. Dates are tentative. Pricing and confirmed dates will be published in the
Motorcader magazine.
All Motorcading Guidelines and Policies are written in full and found in the back of the Foretravel Motorcade Club Membership Directory.

We all remember the saying, “Head West Young Man, Head West.”
Well that’s exactly what we will do July 14 - August 7, 2016, on the
Washington & More Motorcade. In fact, you will be able to actually
reach the most western point of the lower 48 states without getting
your feet wet by strolling on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula.
The final arrangements have all been made and the dates have been set, as we look forward
to showing you the best that Washington has to offer. We will spend 25 wonderful days
together touring the Evergreen State. While there, we will visit many of the well known
attractions like the San Juan Islands, the Space Needle and the Boeing Assembly Plant,
as well as a few little known gem’s, like a bus tour with Willie Nelson, (no, not that Willie
Nelson), a harbor tour with Captain Tom, and a city tour of Tacoma with a local Historian.
Although we have many things scheduled to see and do, we have also allowed plenty of free
time so you can relax and explore on your own. Won’t you come join us this summer as we
travel “West” to Washington & More? We promise you will indeed enjoy this extraordinary
motorcade.

Stellar attractions await you in the picturesque state of Colorado. Thrilling raft
rides, steamy hot springs, train rides, and spectacular scenery are just a few you will
enjoy on the Colorado Motorcade.
Ghost towns such as St. Elmo’s and Tincup have been preserved as they were
in the gold mining boom. You can almost hear the piano’s playing and stories being told in the saloons as you
walk down the abandoned wooden sidewalks.
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a 48 mile formation of steep cliffs cut over millions of years by the
rushing waters of the Gunnison River. A boat ride from the Morrow Point reservoir will take in you through 7 miles
of the region’s beauty.
What could be better than a leisurely float trip on the Arkansas River, the most floated river in North
America, in search of moose and other wildlife through the Browns Canyon? Then we’ll top it off and finalize this
perfect day with a delicious dinner?
There are plenty of hot springs throughout the trip to soak and relax in the natural geothermic waters.
Don’t forget those cameras. The Gondola at Monarch Pass gives a bird’s eye view of the beautiful
mountains along the continental divide as it runs throughout the state.
There’s so much to enjoy on this motorcade with all the fun activities and a continuous view of majestic
mountains the throughout the trip.

Dates for the 2016 Colorado Grandvention draw nearer and as always, we are
excited to present you with fellowship, fun, seminars, fun, food, fun, and entertainment.
Oh did I mention fun?
We will be staying at the state fairgrounds in Pueblo, Colorado. The facility is
nice and has full hookups. We will begin with a wonderful dinner the first evening. We’ll serve breakfast, lunch
and dinner the other three days except for Wednesday when you have a prearranged dinner with your chapter.
This will be an excellent time of the year to be in Colorado. The fall colors should be at their peak while the
temperature should prove quite pleasant.
We have several things of interest on the itinerary. Representatives from Aquahot and Silverleaf will
present informative and helpful seminars. James Triana, warrenty director, tech support advisor and all around
foretravel guru, will hold a seminar and be available for advice throughout this Grandvention. We have planned
a full day tour of the area. A special tour of the Rosemount Museum and lunch in their carriage house is planned
for the ladies. We’ll keep you updated of other seminars as they are confirmed.
The Colorado motorcade will end with its final stop near pueblo making it very convenient to extend the
fun for a few extra days and join us at the grandvention. After grandvention those registered, will continue on
to the Balloonfest in Albuquerque, NM. Ever effort has been made to make your time in the west flow from one
event into the next.
Hope you are registered to attend the Grandvention Colorado 2016. Don’t forget it’s going to be fun.

Our journey to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta will begin in Santa Fe, New
Mexico where we will spend 2 nights taking in the sights like the Loretto Chapel with
it’s story of the mysterious staircase as well as some shopping at the Historic Plaza.
As we amble through the heart of New Mexico, we will experience the history
of the legendary Billy the Kid and his outlaw gang.
If you haven’t heard of “The Rosewell Incident” that occurred in 1947, you will enjoy the interesting
artifacts at the International UFO Museum.
Arriving at Albuquerque, high flying adventures await us. Experience the thrill as hundreds of hot air
balloons take to the sky at the days first light. Us will have the opportunity to soar above the beautiful Rio Grande
River Valley with an experienced pilot as the sun rises along with the many other colorful balloons.
While in Albuquerque, there will be plenty of time to visit the historic Old Town. We will enjoy the 1706
village with its brick paths, gardens, and balconies, along with shops, boutiques, and galleries.
Join us for an “Uplifiting time”.

WOMEN SHOULD NOT HAVE ALL OF THE FUN!!
Every year Foretravel hosts / provides great training for ladies via the
“Ladies Driving School” held in Nacogdoches, TX at the Foretravel
factory. Each year, critiques are requested at completion of training
session from each lady attendee for continuous improvement of the LDS.
Every year our Motorcade Club receives requests from ladies who completed driving
school to host training sessions for men; but it never worked to secure a large enough
attendance of men to provide the course. Last year we had an interesting request! Why
can’t men drive the ladies obstacle course to give them a better understanding of their RV,
signal communications, knowledge of IFS vs rigid axle front-ends, etc.
So, consider this a request for comments to share your thoughts if men would like
to drive the course one time while ladies are in session. Please share your comments,
sign your wife up and come experience the fun she is having while increasing your driving
knowledge and skills. Please note the men have their own schedule of events to improve
their knowledge and understanding of RV they own, a plant tour, meetings with Foretravel’s
technical experts, formal walk-arounds of the RV, great meals; all while watching your wife’s
driving skills grow and increase before your eyes.
Please let Beverly Koonce – Motorcade Club Manager (Tel – 936-564-8367 X-220)
know of your interest or John McKee – LDS Driving Instructor (Tel – 972-679-3390 or email
[email protected]) if you would like to have fun and learn new driving skills.
P.S. – Please reserve your training session early since space only allows a limited
number of attendees – First Come / First Serve.

Escape the winter and join us as we rendezvous in Lake Havasu City, known as
Arizona’s West Coast with beautiful sandy lake beaches and home of the London Bridge.
We will learn exactly how this world famous bridge came to make its unlikely home in
Arizona. And, “hang on” as we blast off from the quaint English Village aboard Starship
2010 where we’ll have breathtaking views as we travel up the Colorado River through the Havasu National Wildlife
Refuge to Topock Gorge. Keep your eyes open for Big Horn Sheep, Wild Burros and Water Fowl.
Quartzsite is world famous for its winter show season during this time. It hosts thousands of vendors at its
famous outdoor and indoor swap meets. This little town in the Southwest Desert is located between Lake Havasu and
Yuma. It’s history shows that this area was always a gathering place for pioneers on their way to the rich gold fields in
California. Today, Quartzsite is still known as a gathering place with thousands of RVer’s in the desert. You can shop
til you drop , hike a desert trail play golf or simply enjoy the sunsets and camaraderie of fellow Foretravel friends.
Our next stop is Yuma, home of abundant water and sunshine, making it the nation’s “winter vegetable capital”
growing more than 90 percent of North America’s leafy greens from November to March. We will enjoy Field to Feast
and savor Yuma culinary flavors with a culinary marathon. The U.S. Army Proving Ground is a US army facility and
one of the largest military installations in the world. It is used for testing military equipment and encompasses 1307
square miles.
If you enjoy music you won’t want to miss the World’s only Global Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale.
It is a one of a kind experience to be enjoyed with nearly 15,000 instruments from every country in the world. We will
enjoy a show of extreme musical talent combined with humor. Canyon lake is another jewel of the southwest where
we will enjoy beautiful scenery and a stop at the last surviving stage coach on the apache trail in Tortilla Flats.
Touring further south to Tucson , a touch of one of the largest aviation and space museums of international
reputation is on our trail. Explore historic districts, missions and artisans in this southwest oasis where art and history
meet. Experience 200 years of southwest history, gem shows, and art festivals.
Come walk through a living cavern with breathtaking discoveries. Discover the gems and history of copper
mining nestled in the mile high Mule Mountains. Visit a town of old world charm and culture and stroll through
narrow streets and unique artisan shops. Don’t miss Wyatt Earp at the OK Corral as we watch history come alive in
Tombstone, the town too tough to die.
Journey through the desert , hills, and lakes of Arizona and escape to the warm climate and beautiful sunsets.
We would love to make memories with you.

Join us as Foretravel, Inc hosts a monumental occasion celebrating its 50th anniversary. They are
combining it with a Buddy Rally which means invite your friends in any make or model RV for this 3-day
historic event.
They’ll be informative seminars offered and lead by the top officials of various departments from
Foretravel factory. You’ll learn not only the most updated information about the coaches, but also information
about trouble shooting.
The Buddy Rally is an excellent opportunity to invite your buddies, show them the factory, and
introduce them to our Club. It’s also a great place reunite with friends and meet new ones.
Going on one of the scheduled tours will give you an opportunity to see and learn every aspect of the
construction from start to finish as well as explain exactly how a Foretravel is transformed into the superior
coach you own. A tour guide will accompany each group and be available to answer all questions.
Come, bring your friends, and plan on a few days of good fun, food, entertainment, and fellowship.
We look forward to you helping celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Foretravel.

What a special year is ahead of us; i.e. 2017! Why do I state 2017 will be a
special year? Simply stated the year begins the 50th year of Foretravel production
making one of the finest motorhomes on the road. The Foretravel RV has withstood
the test of time in terrible years and flourished in good years with several thousand
coaches built and still on the highways and byways today; a testament to Mr. C. M. Fore and all of those who
purchased Foretravel RV’s.
It has always been known, owning a Foretravel is only a small piece of the pie; the bigger and best piece
of pie is Foretravel’s Motorcade Club, travel trips created and presented by the Club for Club members, and most
important is the Motorcade Club membership – we have the best people making Foretravel ownership special in
every category!
With special travel events planned by your Motorcade Club to celebrate Foretravel’s 50th Anniversary;
Big Tex 2 Motorcade starts in Nacogdoches, TX after the Anniversary/Buddy Rally event where it all began 50
years back. Big Tex 2 will enjoy sights, tastes and sounds of East Texas; make our way to DFW area to learn
some history of Dallas, Texas, view famous airplanes, tour JFK Memorial, tour Texas School Book Depository
Museum from where JFK was shot, walk Dealey Plaza, enjoy great music and food. You might encounter a
chance meeting with a former President while touring G.W. Bush’s Presidential Library at SMU. All of the above,
while you share special time with family, friends and loved ones.
Fort Worth also has great places to visit; i.e. Fort Worth Stock Yards, Billy Bob’s Texas, Texas Motor
Speedway, Fort Worth Water Gardens, Cabela’s, Sundance Square, just to name a few. Did I mention both
Dallas and Fort Worth have great shopping centers and outlets; the ladies will have plenty to do and so will the
gentlemen. Still working to layout the Motorcade, will move south to Austin which is a great town with a lot of
history, music, food and fun for all. There will be several fun events, great food, and special times so please do
not miss out on Big Tex 2.
Come join us on Big Tex 2 Motorcade to learn about Texas; you will not be disappointed. You might even
opt to sit a spell, take up residence, whittle a little bit, quilt a blanket, fish awhile, plus become a Texan and stay
in Texas.
As always we are available if you have questions, suggestions or concerns; please call Ellen at 214492-9607 or John at 972-679-3390. You may email us if you prefer; either way we are available to lend an ear or
share our assistance. Don’t miss out on Big Tex 2; it will be a special 50th Anniversary Motorcade to be enjoyed
by one and all.
A $200 deposit will put your name on the standby list.

Mark your calendars. Be sure to “Save the Dates” and register
now to be included in this trip of a life time. That’s right, we will spend
45 days together on a journey through the Last Frontier as we make our
way on the “North to Alaska Motorcade.”
We will meet in Dawson Creek, B.C. where it will all begin at “Mile 0”, the official start
of the Alaskan Highway. From there, we will travel together through the beautiful British
Columbia and Yukon Territory with wildlife and scenic views at every turn. Contrary to
popular belief, the Alcan Highway is a very wide, all paved, two lane highways continually
changing from its original route built in 1942.
When we enter Alaska-10 days and approximately 1400 miles later, we will have
opportunities galore. We will take in the sights of Fairbanks, Anchorage and Valdez just to
name a few. We will see a multitude of bald eagles in Haines, go halibut fishing in Homer,
and enjoy an afternoon of splendor whale watching while we spot bears and moose all along
the way.
The natural beauty of this land along with its vast forests and preserves will provide
us with endless opportunities to view wildlife and sights unseen in any other part of our great
country. Join us in the summer of 2017 for a life changing experience and a journey. Travel
“North to Alaska” the Foretravel way!

We’ve been forced to change our date and location for our 2017 Grandvention. We will meet at the

only in Louisiana. As always, we will have our meetings, seminars, delicious meals and lively
entertainment in a comfortable setting. When we have any activity this close to the factory, we are
able to offer numerous knowledgeable speakers and seminars by the people who design and build
the coach you operate.
We always look forward to this annual ‘reunion’ to catch up with our friends and excited to make new
ones. Tell your friends you’ll meet them in Shreveport.

Following the Grandvention stick around for the Louisiana Get-Away and let those good times keep
rolling!
We’ll head south making a few stops showing the beauty, unique, and unusual of this state before
our stop in Baton Rouge, the capital of LA and home to numerous well know sights such as their
impressive capitol builds. The new and the old both make quite an impression. Baton Rouge is home
to LSU and the fighting Tigers. Hopefully, our timing will work out and we can witness the Tigers in
action.
Our final destination will be New Orleans where our choices are endless. This city of fun and mystery
will have us wanting to stay.
Join us for a few weeks of unlimited fun in Louisiana.

Spring Rally • Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
BLACKWELL ISLAND RV RESORT
Our Rally will be held at the Blackwell Island RV Resort, 800 S Marina Drive, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on June 16 -21, 2016.
The RV Resort is located 1 1/2 miles south of I-90 just off U.S. 95. Coeur d’Alene is a resort town on Lake Coeur d’Alene which
is rich in history of mining and lumbering. We will be showing what we think are places of interest to all.
On our agenda will be two tours of manufacturing companies in Post Falls located a short distance west of Coeur d’Alene.
One is the Buck Knives tour showing how these knives are made and the other company is Ground Force Manufacturing where
mining equipment is made for above-ground mining and below-ground mining. We think both will be very interesting .
The weekend of June 17-18, the Car d’Lene Classic Car Show is being held in downtown Coeur d’Alene. We are planning
a day trip to Sagle, ID to visit a privately owned museum, The Bird Aviation and Invention Museum. Dr Forrest Bird, MD, pioneered
the medical respiratory industry with his invention of a respirator that has saved countless lives. He was an aviator during WWII and has a large collection of
restored vintage aircraft and vehicles on display. We plan a boat trip down the Scenic Spokane River, dinner at The Floating Cedars Restaurant near the RV
resort and a trip to the Coeur d’Alene Casino for their buffet dinner.
There is a number of golf courses nearby, including the well-known Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course with its floating green. There lots of shopping areas,
restaurants and pubs, sea plane trips, boating, fishing and much more to keep you busy.

CHAPTER REPORTS
As this is being written, the Sedona AZ rally
is wrapping up. With thirteen coaches and two firsttimers, this has been yet another great Foretravel
Motorcade Club Chapter Rally. Friendships were
made and renewed, crafts crafted (see the necklaces
in this photo), and good food consumed. We enjoyed
walking tours and jeep tours, plus a magnificent firstclass train trip up the Verde River Valley.
Plans are underway for our next events.
We are planning a Fall rally in early December,
probably in Hemet or Ramona. Keep your calendar
free, details will follow. Also in planning stages, are
a Spring 2017 rally in Northern California and a Fall
2017 rally in Valencia. Our future looks very good.
See you there.

Hello from the Florida Chapter. In January,
we had a great rally at the Tampa Fairgrounds,
with 23 coaches helping to keep our numbers high.
Thank you to Skip and Gail Langfitt for all their help.
We are hoping for a record attendance next year.
Presently, we are looking forward to the
Naples rally. We have 20 reservation. The dates
are April 6 - 8, at the Neapolitan Cove RV Resort.
Thank you to Gary and Jeannie Mauck for their help.
The resort gave us a great rate and they are very
hospitable. Included in the rally fee is a luncheon
cruise aboard the “Naples Princess”, and a day at the
exotic Naples Zoo. It is a fun zoo for all ages. Naples
is famous for being the shopping capitol of the south,
“Tin City” and Fifth Avenue being the mecca. It’s the
perfect time of year.

Our Fall Rally was pushed back to December
last year so that we could take in Branson during
their Christmas season. Due to busy schedules and
some illness we didn’t have a big crowd but those that
came had a wonderful time. It was hosted by Clinton
and Brenda Volz and they had a good balance of
taking in some shows and meals along with some
time to fellowship with one another and play some
games. Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede was fun and
beautiful with their Christmas theme. Have you ever
been served a meal with no utensils? Interesting!
Clay Walker’s show was good and so was the dinner
cruise on the Branson Belle. We had time to take in
the show Jonah which was really good and this year
they are going to present Moses which should be a
great show also.
Ben Chism, now our International President,
handed over the gavel as Chapter President to me
for the next two years. Martha Dameron is now our
Vice President and Debby Best is the Secretary/
Treasurer.
Martha and Roy Dameron will host our
Spring Rally on June 22nd to June 26th. It’s title is

Every January something happens that is
hard to believe, unless you have seen it! According to
the Arizona Highway Department, as many as 750,000
to 1,000,000 people, mostly in RV’s, converge on
Quartzsite Arizona, which is located just 20 miles
east of the California border on Interstate 10, for the
Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show. At the same
time, there are rock, gem and mineral shows plus
numerous flea markets. This phenomenon started
over 40 years ago and is now billed as “the largest
gathering of RVers in the world”...One thing to note,
sites during the show book up as much as a year
in advance, however, if you sign up for next year’s
Southwest Motorcade, you will have the opportunity
to experience the shows.
The Four Corners Chapter held a rally in
Quartzsite Arizona in January just prior to the show.
In attendance were 10 plus coaches representing 5
Motorcade Club chapters. We were honored by the
presence of two International Presidents, Joyce and
First Gentleman Bill Holmberg (2015) and Ben and
First Lady Linda Chism (2016).
As there was no fall rally last year, elections
were held. Kris Lanning was elected 2016 Chapter
President. Shannon Lanning was elected Chapter
Secretary/Treasurer. The Vice President remains
Dave Foerch.
As you can see in the picture, Quartzsite
Arizona can have some short sleeve shirt days in
January while summer can have some downright hot
days, “but it’s a dry heat”.

Larry Pontius, President
Mid Atlantic
Hello from the Mid Atlantic Foretravel
Motorcade Chapter. Let me start with a “Huge”
Congratulation to Robert McGee, Mid Atlantic
Chapter Treasurer, named 2016 Foretravel
Motorcade Member of the Year! Bravo to Robert, a
wonderful gentleman and loving husband to Carol
McGee.
As it starts to warm up in the Mid States, we
are taking our Motor coaches out of moth balls and
getting them ready for the start of the 2016 traveling
season. We will be kicking off spring with a Rally, April
14-17, 2016, at Smith Mountain Lake State Park in
Virginia, organized by Larry and Joyce Humphreys.
The rally schedule includes a visit to the National DDay Memorial in Bedford, VA, a Paddleboat Cruise
with Lunch plus breakfasts and a catered Dinner. As
of this writing ten (10) coaches and nineteen (19)
members have signed up to attend.
Later this spring , there will be a Friendship
Get Together Un-Rally II, organized by new Mid
Atlantic member Jeff and Sandy Yarchin. The first
(1st) Friendship Get Together Un-Rally I was an
idea initiated by new Mid Atlantic chapter member,
Danielle Chapman, in August, 2015 whereby
approximately seven (7) Mid Atlantic Foretravel
coaches congregated, and members created
relationships spending a pleasurable 4 days in the
beautiful town of Hendersonville, NC.
The second (2nd) Friendship Get Together
Un Rally II, will be held April 28th – May 2nd, at
River Vista Mountain Village campground in Dillard,
GA. Yes it is only 2 miles from the Famous Country
Style Family Restaurant “Dillard House”! We will
be enjoying at least one dinner there and I’m sure
one breakfast, but who knows, possibly a few
more meals!!! In addition, everyone will have the
opportunity to visit the cultural and artistic town of
the NC “Highlands” located a short 10 miles from our
campground.
Our Fall Rally, is being organized by
Ravenna and Rusty Bohan, and will be held at
Tom’s Cove Campground in the historic area of
Chincoteague Island, VA home of the Chincoteague
Ponies. Legend has it these Feral Ponies on
the island of Assateague are descendants of a
Spanish Galion, but more likely are domestic horses
brought to the island by farmers to avoid fencing
requirements and taxation. While in Chincoteague
we will also visit the Chincoteague Museum and tour
the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The rally
also includes food, in true Foretravel tradition, daily
breakfasts and a catered Dinner!
A “Huge” bonus at any Foretravel rally and
group gatherings always mean members spend free
time enjoying enlightening technical discussions as
well as showing of project accomplishments and
coach upgrades!
We welcome all to join us at our rallies and
un-rallies!

the Forest Service warehouse that supplies tools and
materials for fighting forest fires and other natural

features the history of the area, wild animals, reptiles
and raptures. We had a group dinner at a local golf

the rain and cooler weather that week. We found
many interesting shops in Sisters where we could
spend our money.
Our Spring Rally scheduled for June 16 20, 2016 in Coeur d’Alene, ID will be hosted by Jerry
& Marilyn Marlow, #12663. This will be a “Friends”
rally at the Blackwell Island RV Resort. There are
two tours scheduled for the group, one is at Bucks
Knives and the other will be at Ground Force
Manufacturing which makes equipment for above
ground and below ground mining. The Car d’Lane
Classic Car Show is during our rally on Friday night
and Saturday. We have also schedule a tour of the
Forrest Aviation and Invention Museum located north
of Coeur d’Alene. Dr Forrest invented the respirator
now used in hospitals. He was also an aviator who
collected vintage aircraft as well as vintage cars.
There is a museum showcasing many inventors and
the products they are noted for inventing. There
are so many things to do in this area, we have left
some free time for exploring on your own. Some
of the things are eight golf courses nearby, jogging
and hiking trails in and around the town, bike trails
& bike rentals, seaplane tours, boat rentals, fishing,
art galleries, antique shops, wonderful restaurants
and shopping areas. The Coeur d’Alene Resort has
fleet of boats for group tours. We have been getting
telephone calls from members who are interested
in attending so we are hopeful of getting a good
turnout.
We are very encouraged to see the new
members that have joined recently and the new
people coming to and participating in our rallies. We
welcome three new members that have joined our
South Central Club since the first of this year.
North Atlantic
Greetings from the North Atlantic Chapter
of the Motorcade Club. Many of our snow bird
members are on their way back north after enjoying
the milder southern climate during the winter months.
With spring upon us, we are planning on holding our
“Spring Rally in Happy Valley”, in Centre Hall, PA.
We will be staying at the Fairgrounds of Centre
County Grange Park, June 1-4. Five days and 4
nights of food, fun, and friends in north central PA are
planned by our wagon masters Russ & Shirley Major
(12059) and Brad & Pam Johnson (16422). We will
take a bus tour of Penn State’s campus, a boat tour
in Penn’s Cave Caverns and a trolley tour of the
Penn’s Cave’s Wildlife Park. With many other things
to do in Happy Valley, we invite Foretravel owners
and a Buddy or two to join us.
In the fall, because of the timing of the CO
Grandvention, we will hold our Fall Rally Sept. 8-12,
in the Pueblo area at the Haggerty RV Campground.
This is the weekend prior to the Pueblo, CO
Grandvention. Stay tuned for more information on
the Fall Rally.
Our chapter president Dick Sherman &
first mate Joanne send greetings to all. They look
forward to seeing friends and meeting new attendees
at our rallies in 2016. Each rally is a Friends Rally, so
invite a friend to join us.
See you down the road,
Secretary, Pam Johnson (16422)
