Fall 2015 Newsletter - University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union
Fall 2015 Update: Bill Pay Gets a Facelift The University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union has been offering bill pay in partnership with iPay for many years. iPay has updated their product to improve functionality and the user experience. The updated bill pay product will replace our current product in late October. The biggest change bill pay users will notice is that payments are now managed through a dashboard. You can see all your payees at once or you can choose to view only the companies or individuals you pay. Another change is instead of a menu at the top of the screen the updated product will use tabs. These tabs will match the menu titles you’re familiar with currently. Have you used person to person payments yet? This service has been available on bill pay for some time and is a nice feature. When you set up a person to person payment the person you wish to pay enters all their account information. This way the person you want to pay doesn’t have to share their personal account information. Now instead of writing a check to the person you owe, you can just send the money directly to their account through person to person payments - no waiting for a check. It usually just takes a couple of days for the transaction to be completed. With the upgrade, all your payees will still be available. There are no additional steps you need to take to use the upgraded service. If you would like to see a demo please visit our website at www.nufcu.org or call us with questions at 402.472.2087. Bring One, Get One .50% Off Loan Offer* - Now until October 31 How does BOGO work? It’s easy! For example, you finance a new auto loan with us and qualify for our lowest rate at 1.95% APR* and within the promotion period you refinance an existing auto loan that you have with another financial institution. You can choose which loan to apply the .50% discounted interest rate. To get your BOGO, contact us at 402.472.2087. *Some restrictions apply: APR=Annual Percentage Rate. APR is accurate as of 8/01/2015 and is available for new and used cars and trucks. The monthly payment is approximately $42.52 for each $1,000 borrowed. BOGO discounting does not include loans currently with the credit union. BOGO will be applied to the loan of your choice. Offer good through October 31, 2015. BOGO cannot be combined with any other discounts to reduce rate. Loan special is not available for personal loans, credit cards, lines of credit, or mortgage loans. On approved credit, each individual’s APR is determined by applicant’s credit history, the loan term, and vehicle model and year. Not all applicants will qualify for our lowest rate. Minimum loan amount $10,000. PRESIDENT’S CORNER Employee Spotlight Meet Mary Snodgrass Mary Snodgrass grew up in the university community as the daughter of Lyda Snodgrass, bursar and employee of the university for 30 years. Mary came to the credit union as a part-time teller in 2009 while attending the university. She then became interested in finance and insurance. After finding a more tailored program for insurance at Southeast Community College, she graduated with an associates degree in 2012. Soon after Mary began working for us full-time. In November of 2014, Mary was promoted to a member services representative II where she opened new accounts and assumed the front desk duties. Not long after she started in her new position, another job opportunity became available at the credit union. Mary jumped at the chance to contribute and learn more about the lending side of the business. In July she was promoted to a lending support specialist. As a lending support specialist Mary’s job is vital to the success of the credit union. She reviews all loan paper work to assure it is accurate and meets NCUA regulations. She is responsible for doublechecking that the collateral securing the loan is in place and that all required titles are filed with the state or county. In addition, Mary executes our safe deposit box audit and coordinates our online application process. Not only is Mary a great employee, she’s also a lot of fun to be around. She is the first to volunteer whether it’s for a charity fundraiser, an off-site event or making the popcorn on Fridays. Mary is a true Husker fan and enjoys spending time cheering on her favorite team. Recently Mary started taking cooking classes with her mom and thanks to Reshell Ray, associate director of EC programs/NEU assistant manager, Mary can now cook soul food and a vegetarian dinner in 10 minutes. Besides spending time with her mom, Mary also enjoys hanging out with her sister, who recently moved back to Lincoln, and the family dog Ellie. www.nufcu.org | 402.472.2087 | Fax 402.472.6814 Each quarter visit the President’s Corner to find out the latest credit union news. President Keith Kauffeld will provide information he feels is relevant to the credit union membership. GO BIG CRED! Introducing Go Big Cred. Not only is this a new slogan for the credit union, it’s our brand promise. We want to promote the pride and loyalty we have for Nebraska and the university community we serve. There is a difference between a bank and a credit union. With Go Big Cred we can tell all Nebraskans about the credit union movement. Being a member of a credit union is being part of a financial cooperative. The more members we have at the credit union, the more value we can provide to you the member. As we grow, we can offer better services at more competitive rates and with fewer or lower fees. But a credit union needs to attract new members to continue the growth that makes this all possible. With our new campaign we are supporting the university community we serve and inviting more fans than ever to be part of the credit union movement. And because our members are the best at telling our story, we want to pay you to help us. That's right! Just refer a friend, co-worker, family member or university volunteer and we will pay you $25 and the person opening the new checking account $25. It’s a WIN, WIN! Our Tell-a-Friend program is an easy to use opportunity for you to earn a little extra for what you are already doing. If you would like to refer a friend please visit nufcu.org/fast25 and complete our Tell-a-Friend form. And remember, The best bank for Nebraskans is not a bank. Call us at 402.472.2087 if you have questions about our GO BIG CRED referral program. Our Mission Educating members on how to save money and promoting financial wellness are part of our mission.
