IMDA Annual Conference & Scholarship Golf Outing May 19-21, 2015 Hilton Indian Lakes Resort • Bloomingdale, IL USA IMDA MEMORIAL HIP GOLF OUTI OLARS NG SCH 2015 Annual Conference & Scholarship Golf Outing Tuesday, May 19 – Thursday, May 21, 2015 Metal Packaging: Solutions through Education The Hilton Indian Lakes Resort will once again be our host venue for the 2015 Conference. Planning sessions have been as fruitful as you would expect and the agenda’s offering will surely provide guidance and information useful in your application of metal decorating technology. We begin the Conference session with Jan Dunphy, Vice President Sales and Marketing for Beverage Containers from Crown Cork & Seal. Jan will give us insight into Crown’s perspective for the ever growing craft brewers’ use of cans for their packaging. Joining in the conversation will be Aimee Quinkert of Revolution Brewing to present their success using cans for their craft brews. Other highlights of our Wednesday program include a motivational presentation from long time NFL referee, Jerry Markbreit, who will entertain and motivate us with his stories from many years working for the 3M Corporation and from serving as one of the best loved NFL referees on record. As is customary, we will hold our Awards Luncheon of Wednesday to honor our Member of the Year, Decorators of the Year and Excellence in Quality award winners. We are pleased to announce that we will be bringing our Breakout session format back into the agenda with segments loaded with technical know how. Our well attended Sponsored Exhibition will round out the day with hospitality second to none. There are still spaces available; act soon as we will surely sell out the spaces again this year. Thursday’s agenda will start out with a key presentation from Pantone Xrite which will focus on color management which is crucial to our success. We will follow up the management segment with a lesson on terms and technology used when communicating color. We are offering a presentation on one of the hottest management topics today, How to Deal with the Generational Divide in the Workplace. Understanding the needs and desires of the various age groups in our society is a must in recruiting and keeping valuable team members. This seminar content is a must see! While we may be focusing on technical, management, and marketing topics, we will always include presentations on our environment and ways in which we can improve the impact metal packaging has on the world. Register now and join the more than 300 metal packaging personnel in the premier educational event of the year! Sincerely, Your IMDA Conference Committee JERRY MARKBREIT 3M Corporation – National Football League Referee Jerry Markbreit's position as Trade and Barter Manager for 3M Company was unique in the business world. That position, combined with his experience as one of only sixteen National Football League Referees, has given him the background to develop an interesting and worthwhile message for the IMDA. Markbreit retired from the 3M Company after 38 years. In his position, he daily negotiated and traded millions of dollars of advertising, media time, materials, etc. with businesses throughout the world. After officiating football for nine years, Markbreit became a member of the Big Ten Football officiating staff. His most memorable games in the Big Ten include: The 1966 Notre Dame/Michigan State National Championship Game (10-10) tie, The 1972 Rose Bowl game between Stanford and Michigan, and Six Ohio State/Michigan games, including the 1971 (10-7) Michigan victory when Woody Hayes stormed the field in his "first national tirade." Markbreit wrote a weekly football column for the Chicago Sun Times for several years while working college football and in 1973 he wrote The Armchair Referee published by Doubleday & Company. In 1988 his autobiography, Born to Referee, was published by William Morrow Company. He currently writes an internet column for the Chicago Tribune under ChicagoSports.com Markbreit is best known as one of the most popular NFL referees today. 1998 was his 23rd and final season in the league. His career reads like a history book - refereeing Superbowls 17, 21, 26, and 29 and 8 Championship Games. He is currently an assistant supervisor in the NFL officiating office, in charge of training referees.
