HEY DAY 2015 Volume 7, No. 2: Spring 2014 Summer/Fall 2015 Hey Day was once again a huge success by being “THE BEST YEAR EVER” in the amount of money raised by our community to support our local hospital. Thanks so much to everyone who donated their time, donated items and, of course, the shoppers who came out to this annual fundraiser. Lil’s Café provides sandwiches & homemade pies to volunteers & shoppers alike under the capable hands of Bev Cecchini and her assistant Pam Miller. Clothing racks are filled and organized by these ladies. Ferne Richardson presented a cheque for $2700 to Lorraine Ferguson, winner of Hey Day’s 50/50 draw. Brent Thompson, born at KDH and an Ottawa Senators fan, won the President’s Raffle, a Sens jersey and tickets to a Sens game. He looks pretty happy about that!! Jewellery shoppers looking for a deal! The morning speaker was Kathie Donovan, former co-host of Regional Contact. Kathie gave a very inspirational and emotional talk on happiness and how to “create the life you deserve”. She has written a book entitled Inspiration in Action-A Woman’s Guide to Happiness. Many attendees lined up to purchase the book afterwards. Shown on the right is Cecile Prodonick with Kathie. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Elaine McNaughton (second from left). V Pin – (Ten Years Service) was presented to Audrey Halsey (centre). These awards were presented at Hey Day as the ladies could not attend the Volunteer Tea. The “Second Hand Rose” section in the KDH Gift shop offers a range of gently-used (and still-beautiful) jewelry, china and other items at terrific bargain prices. Betty Beach, Second Hand Rose co-ordinator, encourages area residents to donate jewelry, ornaments, dishes, and other small treasures that they are no longer using. “These items can bring pleasure to a new owner, and can benefit the hospital too.” To donate items for Second Had Rose, please call Betty at 613-258-4454 or bring the items to the gift shop during open hours (every weekday from 9 am – 4 pm.) Ferne Richardson received a Certificate of Merit from the Loyal Orange Lodge – Morrisburg in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding service to KDH as a long time committed volunteer and a member of KDHA.
