CALCULATION OF BUSINESS LICENSE FEES
In order to calculate business license fees for new home businesses in the City of La
Palma the applicant must estimate the anticipated gross receipts for the business.
Business License fees are then calculated as follows:

FICTITIOUS BUSINESS NAME STATEMENT
THE LAW
Persons commencing business under a fictitious name must file a Fictitious Business
Name Statement (DBA) with the County Clerk in the county in which the business is
conducted. A filing is good for five years from the date it was filed, unless expiring for other
reasons.
A DBA must be published within 30 days of the filing date in an adjudicated newspaper in
the county.
A DBA expires automatically 40 days after any change in the information in it. A new
statement with the new information must be filed and re-published if the business continues
as before. There is one exception: A change in residence address of a party does not
cause it to expire.
