TURANDOT Reviews from Europe and the USA SPLENDOR AT THE OPERA! “Well now in its 6th visit to Logrono, Teatro Lirico D’Europa made it’s best performance ever. North American soprano, Avalee Beckmann, showed us some extraordinary vocal capacities and posed a significant Turandot. Lev Kuznetzov sang with a robust voice of a great timbre as well as in an elegant manner. Both were able to move me in a special way. Believe me it will be difficult to hear this finale with the same authority they brought to it. The splendid voice of soprano Qilian Chen, an authentic expert of ‘bel canto,’ showed an incredible maturity and perfection in the role of Liu. The enormous orchestra that occupied the pit of the Teatro Breton sounded great in every moment! I can say that it was a remarkable performance. Splendor at the opera!!!” From a local newspaper - Logrono, Spain venue: Teatro Breton, Logrono EXCELLENT OPENING! “The opera season opened at Teatro Cervantes with the performance of TURANDOT. A high level of quality in this production of Teatro Lirico D’Europa with important voices. The Chinese soprano, Qilian Chen, was expressive in both of the well known arias. An A+ for the work done by the tenor Lev Kuznetzov (Calaf). Soprano, Avalee Beckmann, (Turandot) outdid herself in the final duet. The audience which completely filled the Teatro Cervantes enthusiastically applauded all the members of Teatro Lirico D’Europa, showing their approval of the soloists, chorus and orchestra.” From: a local newspaper - Malaga, Spain venue: Teatro Cervantes, Malaga “TURANDOT, the opera that Puccini left unfinished received its baptism, applauded by 2000 people. The exceptional representation had a particular interest to hear. From Soprano, Avalee Beckmann, one heard a more dramatic Turandot. Her vocalism well suited for the text assigned. Tenor, Roumen Doikov, was master of stage, robust vocalism, and determined interpretation. His agile voice, without sign of fatigue, gave vigor to the part of the unknown foreign Prince, For the well known aria ‘Nessun Dorma’ he received a merited ovation. Dimiter Stantchev was a superior Timur.” From: Corriere di Siena - Siena, Italy “We have to mention the richness of the voices, the one of the delicate Liu, particularly expressive in the deeply moving ‘Signore Ascotla.’ The very beautiful tenor of the Calaf (Roumen Doikov) of exhilarating timber, and a perfectly mastered vibrato. The Canadian Soprano, Avalee Beckmann...one must remark about the grace of the extremely sure high notes that she executed with such a facility and virtuosity, and the grace of her ardent conviction. She assumed the role with a sure talent..” From: a local newspaper - Grenoble, France; venue: Theatre de Grenoble “In 2 performances the Teatro Lirico D’Europa seduced the lovers of opera. A beautiful finale of the opera season. Avalee Beckmann made an imposing Turandot, arrogant and remarkably esthetic. Lev Kuznetzov, in the role of Calaf was a brave and robust tenor. This strongly beautiful realization of Teatro Lirico D’Europa admirably run, obtained a merited success and ended with dignity the operatic season of the Scene Nationale of Sete.” From: Midi Libre - Sete, France, venue: Scene Nationale TURANDOT Explores the Poles of Passion "Teatro Lirico D'Europa boasted a fine orchestra, a well coached chorus and strong voices from both the demanding principal roles and smaller secondary parts. All the singers acquitted themselves honorably starting with Leslie Morgan as Turandot. Roumen Doikov sang the prince with a robust tenor that rang true and clear. He drew bravos from the crowd for "Nessun Dorma," the opera's famous aria. Qilian Chen won the audience's heart as Liu. After the final chorus: "Gloria a te!" the audience rose to give the entire ensemble a warm ovation." NEWS LEADER - Larry T. Collins - Perf. at Hammons Perf. Arts Center, Springfield "Tamara Kutsenko, who took the role of Turandot in the Teatro Lirico d'Europa production Wednesday at the Cerritos Center for the Perf. Arts handled it as persuasively as anyone. Roumen Doikov sang Calaf with a bright, strong, Italianate tenor. Kenneithia Mitchell was a gentle. effective Liu. Conductor Krassimir Topolov kept the score moving briskly. The orchestra played with power." LOS ANGELES TIMES - Chris Paslis, (Performance at Cerritos Center for Perf. Arts “Some super singers! Oh those featured singers! Russian soprano Irina Bozhedomova and Bulgarian tenor Roumen Doikov could knock your socks off with their voices leaving you drooling at every sparing note. Bozhedomova's voice easily captured attention and her combination with Doikov was shattering. Kenneithia Mitchell sings Liu with a mellifluous, finely etched voice. The audience gave the players a rousing reception.” UTICA DISPATCH OBSERVER-Jonas Kover-(Performance at Stanley Perf. Arts Center, Utica, New York) Russian Soprano lifts stellar TURANDOT “Wednesday night's TURANDOT is the best performance the Teatro Lirico D'Europa has brought us so far, better even than the production of this same opera two years ago. Irina Bozhedomova (Turandot) has an expressive theater face and the soprano has a fascinating voice with a girlish timbre she can shoot through a magnifying glass so that high notes burst into flame. She sings with imagination. Liu, the American soprano, Kenneithia Mitchell, offered a compelling contrast to Bozhedomova's voice. It is ample, warm and vibrant and she has the ability to perch a soft high note with perfect poise. Best of all, she suffuses every phrase she sings with emotion. The audience adored her. Roumen Doikov rose to the occasion, acting with concern and conviction, and singing with power, breadth of phrase, and passion. He concluded “Nessun dorma” with a sweeping vocal flourish and wide-flung arms, and the audience went crazy! The handsome production was spruced up, and the staging is the most persuasive work company director Giorgio Lalov has given us to date. The splendid chorus could have walked away with the show if Doikov, Mitchell and Bozhedomova hadn't been there.” BOSTON GLOBE-Richard Dyer - Performance at Majestic Theatre, Boston ITNG Productions Siége Social 66 avenue des Champs Elysées 75008 Paris Direction Artistique et Comptable 17 rue de la République 91800 Brunoy www.itngproductions.fr Tél. : 09 83 94 94 22 Fax : 09 83 94 84 22 [email protected] SARL au capital de 100 000,00 euros R.C.S.
