The money that was raised will be used in many areas to improve the golf course. Currently, we are pu ng some of the funds to grind the stumps on holes 9, 16 & 17 and then followed up by sodding these areas back. In the upcoming months, we will be installing cobblestone rocks around some cart path edges that have been worn down by cart traffic. These small touches will keep CCC looking sharp. Summer is almost over but the golf course is s ll growing and the golf course maintenance staff is s ll repairing winter kill areas throughout the golf course. This past August 15 marks one year from the me we opened back up from the renova on. Over the last year, the golf course has matured and healed some but this will take a few more years to complete where we have sodded. Please be advised that over the next two months we will be increasing our mowing heights to protect the Bermuda grass so you may encounter some areas that look puffy or uncut due to this reason. I look forward to seeing everyone on the golf course very soon! Thanks, John T. Dawson, GCS and Birdie GOLF NEWS Month of August Hole-in-One Congratulations Ben Leonard on Hole #15 from 187 yards. This was one of the biggest turn outs in many years! Thanks for suppor ng your club! Ben Miller Golf Tip of the month: Whether you are chipping or pitch‐ ing the ball, remember to keep your back swing short and accelerate through the ball. Most people take too long of a back swing and decel‐ erate. REMINDER: We only have two months le for our a er 4:00pm special. Please come take advantage of playing 18 holes for just $10 a er 4:00pm! Also, our 19‐man qualifying starts September 5th. Ladies Invitational 2015 On August 7th - 9th , 2015, 73 women golfers from North Carolina and surrounding states came to play in Colonial Country Club’s 49th Annual Ladies Invitational golf tournament. Steeped in tradition, this tournament is one of the longest running ladies invitational tournaments in North Carolina. Year after year, ladies from all over look forward to coming to Colonial for the weekend to play in this well-known tournament and this year did not disappoint. The weather was amazing; the food as tasty as ever; the course in great shape and Ben and his staff did a phenomenal job of running this tournament. Thanks to many of our club members, our hole sponsorships were up this year (All Season’s Landscape Solutions, LLC; Austin Group Furniture; Blakely Financial, Inc.; Cherry Bekaert, LLP; C2-Cooper Cockerham Marketing Consultants; Gigi’s Beauty Secrets; Pam Cromer; McDonald’s of High Point/ HerJac, Inc.; Ben Miller, CCC Head Golf Professional; NCAEC; Elaine Schuermann; Payne Tax Group, Inc.; Proforma Total Print Solutions; Viking Fire Protection, Inc.; and Will Hedgecock at Reidsville Nissan for our Hole-In-One prize). We also appreciate all the ‘significant others’ and non-playing lady golfers who donated their time, talents and energy to help make this tournament a success. By everyone supporting the CCC Ladies Golf Association and this very important tournament, our group can continue to put on wonderful tournaments, get the word out about how great CCC is, and give back to Colonial Country Club! Although no one won the Hole-In-One contest, Kathy DeVore did manage to take home the championship due to her great tournament play! Congratulations to Kathy and to all Flight Winners! It was a great weekend and the CCC Ladies Golf Association looks forward to next year’s big 50th Annual Invitational! Mark your calendars for August 5-7, 2016 – it will be the most successful and biggest one ever!!
