Orlando, the nation’s most popular tourist destination,
is now one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
Orlando offers a strong overall economy and some of
the best job opportunities in the state. Centrally located
in the state, Orlando hosts one of the nation’s best
international airports and convention centers.
Orlando offers world-class entertainment and sporting
events - home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic with their
new 17,000 seat arena, the newly remodeled Florida
Citrus Bowl, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Orlando City Soccer is the newest member of Major
League Soccer (MLS), with their beautiful new 19,500
seat stadium opening in 2016. In addition to the theme
parks, beaches, golf courses and attractions, Orlando
boasts Broadway shows, a new Center for the
Performing Arts, a nationally recognized Florida Film
Festival and year-round art exhibits and cultural events.
The serious foodie and the casual diner can enjoy a
night on the town at one of the hundreds of restaurants
that call Central Florida home!
With an average temperature of 83 degrees, Orlando is
a playground for year-round activities, and Florida’s
famous beaches are only a short drive away!

UCF Parking
Parking Services
UCF requires everyone parking on campus to display a valid parking permit on their vehicle. As an
employee you have the option to purchase a decal valid for a year or semester. Failure to have an
appropriate permit or failure to park in the designated lots will lead to a parking citation. UCF offers two
types of tags: decals and hangtags. Decal permits (stick-on) must be permanently attached to the vehicle
in accordance with the instructions on the back on the decal. Hangtag permits must be displayed on the
rear view mirror and may be transferred between vehicles; they are not transferrable between owners. For

Public schools in the United States provide free education for children between the ages of five and
eighteen. The Florida Department of Education is a great resource for information on the Florida school
system. To enroll your children in public school, please contact the Public School System in the county
where you will be living.

Requirements for Florida public school kindergarten admission:

Florida law specifies that children who have attained the age of five years on or before September
1 of the school year are eligible for admission to public kindergarten during that school year
based on rules prescribed by the school board. Students are eligible for kindergarten attendance
provided they meet the age requirement.
Requirements to enroll in a Florida public school:




Proof of age. A certified birth certificate for US citizens may be requested online at
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/howto/w2w/w2welcom.htm. If a birth certificate is not available refer to
1003.21, FS, for other acceptable documentation.
A Florida Certificate of Immunization, Form 680 (blue card), completed by a Florida physician or
by a Florida county health department. Parents should obtain a copy of their child's complete
immunization history before leaving their current residence, as this form is not available to the
general public. Information on Florida school immunization requirements is available at
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/Family/school/parent/parent_info.html.
Evidence of a medical exam completed no less than 12 months prior to the child's school entry
date. As long as the medical exam meets this 12-month requirement, parents may submit this
information on the School-Entry Health Exam Form (DH 3040) or provide a copy of the exam
obtained from their current physician before moving to Florida.
Official documentation that the parent(s) or guardian(s) is a legal resident(s) of the school district
attendance area.

Downtown Orlando: Historic Church Street offers you a view of the past while enjoying all the excitement
of today’s top Entertainment Venues. The Church Street District is located in the heart of Downtown

nightlife and Orlando’s newest venue – The Amway Center. The District has food, arts and entertainment,
so no matter what you are looking for in downtown Orlando, there’s always something new to discover on
Church Street.
Downtown Disney: Downtown Disney is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex at the
Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. Disney hosts one of the world’s most fascinating shows,
Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba.
International Drive: The International Drive Resort Area provides visitors to the Orlando area with worldclass attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping fun for the entire family! Awesome theme parks,
dining, shopping and family entertainment give guests a reason to visit Orlando's Most Dynamic
Destination!
Universal CityWalk: This 30-acre entertainment complex is Orlando's ideal destination for a night of
family fun, a place to hang out with friends, or a romantic evening for couples. In addition to its
nightclubs, restaurants, shops and cinemas, CityWalk is also host to a variety of concerts and shows,
including Blue Man Group, and special events throughout the year.

Beaches
Cocoa Beach: Alan Shepard Beach Park at Cocoa Beach. Facilities include a 300-space parking lot, large
picnic pavilions, picnic tables, walkways, a bathhouse with outdoor showers and restrooms. Alan Shepard
Beach Park is located at 4400 Ocean Beach Blvd. in Cocoa Beach. Seasonal lifeguards are on duty. Cocoa
Beach is located approximately 48 miles southeast of campus, which is approximately a one hour drive.
Clearwater Beach: A low-key beach town with a splash of luxury, from the lively shops and restaurants
along Corey Avenue to a landmark historic hotel to the uber-mellow Pass-a-Grille Beach, there’s much to
discover here, on the beach and beyond. Clearwater Beach is located approximately 122 miles southwest
of campus, which is approximately a two hour drive.
Daytona Beach: Daytona Beach remains one of the few Florida destinations where you can drive the
minivan onto the sand, park it and unload for an easy family day in the sun and surf on lifeguard-patrolled
beaches. Daytona is located approximately 55 miles northeast of campus, which is approximately a one
hour drive.
New Smyrna Beach: Quiet New Smyrna Beach has 13 miles of white-sand beach. Its offshore rock ledges
create excellent wave breaks -- which surfers love -- and lessen dangerous undertows. National surfing
championships are held several times a year at Ponce Inlet, north of New Smyrna. Surfboards and boogie
boards can be rented from concessionaires and surf shops. New Smyrna Beach is approximately 48 miles
northeast of campus, which is approximately a one hour drive.
St. Petersburg Beach: In St. Pete you'll find some of the world's top-rated beaches, creating a year-round
haven for outdoor enthusiasts. After experiencing an afternoon of kayaking the calm waters relax with a
picnic on just one of the many pristine, white-sand beaches the area has to offer. If you're lucky, you may
even spot a manatee or dolphin from the shore line. St. Petersburg is located approximately 100 miles
southwest of campus, which is approximately a two hour drive.

UCF Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency. Officers patrol the campus on foot,
mountain bike, motorcycle and in marked patrol cars. Detectives of the Investigations Unit investigate all
reported criminal cases.
The Crime Prevention Unit (407) 823-2165) presents crime prevention seminars for property protection
and personal safety, and also supervises the Community-Oriented Policing program. These officers work
closely with the UCF community in a partnership to reduce crime.
The Crime Prevention Unit hires and trains students for the Student Escort Patrol Service an evening escort
service for all individuals on campus; contact (407) 823-2424.
The Victim Services Unit provides services for emotional support and practical assistance, information and
referrals, and educational services; contact (407) 823-2425 or (407) 823-6069. For 24 hour service, contact
