An integrated academic and social community designed to support first-year students Academic/curricular and co-curricular elements Academic courses that introduce students to the importance of the Liberal Arts Presentations by campus and peer groups about campus resources Lectures and presentations by national speakers A link to campus-wide programming through a common theme: Image (2015-2016) 1 6/5/2015 First-Year Experience Program Main Components First-Year Experience Program The First-Year Schedule An assigned academic advisor A faculty member who serves as a guide to the student during the first year INT 101 (Fall – 2 credits) and INT 103 (Spring – 1 credit): First-Year Seminar Taught by the student’s academic advisor An introduction to the Liberal Arts and their value to academic success personal growth social interaction development of the whole person Provides information on campus services, organizations, and resources ENG 100 (4 credits): Composition COM 100 (3 credits): Principles of Human Communication Fall Semester INT 101: 2 credits COM 100 or ENG 100: 3–4 credits J-Term Course of student’s choosing Other courses for proposed major or LAP up to 18 credits Spring Semester INT 103: 1 credit COM 100 or ENG 100: 3–4 credits Other courses for proposed major or LAP up to 17 credits *Note: Students who have transfer or AP credit for both ENG 100 and COM 100, must still enroll in one of these courses in their first year. Less is more. All buildings are air conditioned. All buildings have wireless ethernet. All buildings have a kitchen available for student use. Rooms are equipped with a desk, chair, dresser, and bed. FREE laundry for students. Average futon sizes will fit under loft. All beds will be lofted when students arrive. All rooms have carpeting except Taylor 3rd floor. Information about refrigerators and microwaves is in your packet. RD’s and RA’s Contact Housing Services for any meal plan changes. Dining Services Dining Dollars Info Dining Dollars can be added to any existing meal plan. $40 and $80 blocks may be added with an extra $10 and $20 credited respectively. Dining Dollars are tax free! Dining Dollars may be used at: Bronco Blend Coffee Shop Bronco Grill Dining Dollars roll over from Fall to Spring Semester, but expire at the end of the academic school year. Resident Hall Meal Plans Flex Plan: 16 meals a week $120 Dining Dollars per semester Classic Plan: 19 meals a week Off Campus Meal Plans 45 Meal Block: 45 meals $120 Dining Doollars 60 Meal Block: 60 meals Dining Services Dining Information Unused meals do not carry over week to week. Friday breakfast begins a new week. You can add additional Dining Dollars to your meal plan at anytime by visiting the Business Office or calling Rhonda Hinrichs at 402-4617420. To sign up for a meal plan call Evonne Borrell at 402-461-7305 If you have special dietary needs, please inform the Dining Services Office. Students who are under the weather may send a friend to the dining hall to obtain a meal to go as long as they send their ID with them. Payment for Spring Term is due January 27th. 5 month payment plan Fall Term: August 10th – December 10th Spring Term: January 10th – May 10th Information will be mailed out with statements Credit cards are accepted online through MyHC with a 2.5% percentage fee. Will show financial aid (scholarships, grants, and loans) as “anticipated aid” until disbursed, which should be the first week of September. Please check with the Financial Aid office to make sure everything has been completed to receive your loans. Difference between Financial Aid Award Letter and statement: Financial Aid shows gross amount of loans and statement shows net amount received.
