EQUINOX SPORT
TAP INTO HIGHER PERFORMANCE.
Equinox isn’t only capable of adapting to your turn-on-a-dime
itinerary. With the introduction of the all-new Equinox Sport,
it’s also capable of accelerating your heart rate. Equinox Sport
took off from 0-96 km/h (60 mph) in just under seven seconds in
GM testing. That’s thanks to the 263 horsepower 3.6L dual
overhead cam V6 engine, mated with a six-speed automatic
transmission that features tap-up/tap-down controls.
Sport models are also distinguished by their 18-inch polished
forged aluminum wheels, lowered suspension and dual
chrome exhaust tips. Further evidence of Equinox Sport’s

A VERY GROWN UP CROSSOVER.
The “crossover” vehicle has become the hottest segment in
the automotive marketplace. Some are really just cars
disguised as something bolder. In contrast, Equinox is the
compact crossover with the genuine technological credentials
needed to give you added confidence on the road. Sure, it has
a brazen look with its athletic stance and the LT’s available
17-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels. But the technology
backs up the attitude, thanks to such standard features as
the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, traction
control and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. That’s in
addition to a standard 185 horsepower 3.4L V6 engine
mated with a five-speed automatic transmission. For even

A PREVENTIVE APPROACH
TO SAFETY.
The thinking is simple: include the latest driver control
technology to help you avoid a collision. The technology
itself is complex – from the standard StabiliTrak
electronic stability control system that detects a
lateral skid and then takes corrective action, to the
standard four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. Of course,
if a collision should prove unavoidable, Equinox has
technology that will help protect you, such as the
dual-stage frontal air bags with Passenger Sensing
System. And the standard OnStar system can
contact emergency services providers on your
behalf for assistance. Prevention and protection –

The 2007 Equinox earned 5 stars – the highest U.S.
Government safety rating – for the driver and front
passenger in frontal crash tests, and front and rear
passengers in side-impact crash tests.*

CRASH TEST RATING*
SAFETY DIAGNOSTICS
A sophisticated safety module determines the severity
and location of an impact. It also controls the deployment
of the dual-stage frontal air bags,** the available head
curtain side-impact air bags, and the front safety belt
pre-tensioners.
AIR BAG TECHNOLOGY
The standard dual-stage frontal air bags** sense the
severity of a crash to determine if the air bags should be
deployed and the most appropriate amount of inflation.
The Passenger Sensing System automatically switches
the front passenger frontal air bag on or off based on
the passenger’s weight and the amount of pressure on
the seat. In addition, available head curtain side-impact
air bags mounted to the roof rails are designed to help
reduce the risk of head injuries to front and outboard
rear-seat occupants in certain side-impact collisions.
The head curtain air bags also feature rollover protection
with a rollover sensor that will deploy the side-impact
air bags if a rollover is detected.
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
The available active on-demand, all-wheel-drive system
not only reacts to change quickly, but can also help
prevent wheelspin. The AWD system integrates with
the standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control
system, traction control and ABS, transferring torque to
the rear wheels when front wheel slippage is anticipated
or detected. The result is enhanced launch capabilities
during hard acceleration, sure-footedness in snow and
wet conditions and increased vehicle stability.
ONSTAR
The OnStar in-vehicle communications and assistance
service represents one of the most important advances
in safety and security in recent years. Better yet, it’s
standard on every Equinox and includes 1 year of the
Safe & Sound Plan. The available Directions & Connections
Plan features Turn-by-Turn Navigation, which provides
step-by-step, voice-guided directions to your destination.
SAFETY CAGE CONSTRUCTION
A rigid steel safety cage surrounds the passenger
compartment for added occupant protection. The cage
is reinforced with 1-piece frames that support door
openings, the roof, and steel door beams, helping resist
side-impact intrusions. And the structure is designed
with front and rear crush zones that are engineered to
collapse in a controlled manner to help absorb crash
energy while protecting the integrity of the safety cage.
LATCH
Equinox includes Lower Anchors and top Tethers for
Children (LATCH) to help secure child restraints. Three
LATCH positions are provided, but only 2 are to be
used simultaneously. If 3 are needed, the third can be
installed using a safety belt.
STABILITRAK
The StabiliTrak electronic stability control system is
standard on all Equinox models. It uses a network of
sensors to detect when the vehicle isn’t responding
appropriately to steering input, which can cause a loss
of lateral traction (sideslip), understeer (plowing) or
oversteer (fishtailing). When any of these conditions
begins to occur, the system automatically adjusts
brake pressure at the appropriate wheel or wheels, and
regulates engine torque, to return the vehicle to your
intended driving line.
REDUCING IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
The Equinox Fuel Cell is an electric vehicle that runs
on hydrogen instead of petroleum. It produces zero
greenhouse gas emissions – only water vapour. The
vehicle is now being tested in limited numbers in
real-world applications, but is not currently for sale to
the general public.
