Information about both is below: 1. DOG SLEDDING IN MONTANA'S WINTER WONDERLAND Butch and Sara Parr have been training and racing sled dogs for over 30 years and we are in our sixth season of offering sled dog tours. Tours are geared toward active, outdoor enthusiasts who want to do more than just go for a ride. You need to be in good physical shape to be able to help drive the sled...so we are looking for active adventure-seekers to join us for a fun dog sled ride! Butch has built an awesome sled with the capability of having one client riding in the sled and one client standing on the runners of the sled behind a seasoned musher resulting in an actual mushing experience. The clients can switch places during the tour, so each person can have the feeling of driving the team! (Check out the photos of the sled in the pictures--click on them to enlarge them) WE SPECIALIZE IN GIVING TOURS TO GROUPS OF 4 PEOPLE OR LESS. We have a small kennel and cannot take out large groups. Taking out small groups keeps this unique experience more personable and enjoyable. WHEN YOU MAKE A RESERVATION, YOU WILL BE THE ONLY GUESTS WE TAKE OUT DURING THAT TIME! :) If there are only two people booking a ride, you will each enjoy going out on your own sled with us! If there are more than two people, the combined weight of our guests cannot exceed 350 pounds per sled. A single person weighing over 275 pounds will be expected to stand on the sled and help with the steering of the sled, so you must be in good physical condition. Dress appropriately for cold weather and dog paws since you may be actively involved with the team! Winter boots, hats, gloves, and don't forget the long underwear! Types of Trips Offered Departure times are flexible, but generally the morning time is 10:30 and the afternoon time is 2:00-2:30. If you want different times, please let us know! Plan on spending some time learning about being on a sled and then about 40-50 minutes on the trail running the team depending on snow /trail conditions. Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and brownies/cookies will be offered after the tour and you are welcome to spend some time meeting and petting the dogs. Appropriate Ages for Participants We prefer to give rides to adults and children over the age of 10. Fees Cost: $80.00 per person. Cash or local checks only, please. 2. Dog Sledding, cruising the backcountry.... Join us for one of life's great adventures; cruising the backcountry of northwest Montana pulled by Alaskan sled dogs. We're a family-friendly outfit. Our customers range in age from babies to eighties. With nearly 100 Alaskan huskies to pull our safe, comfy sleds, we can handle families or groups of any size. America's great wilderness... Tuck yourself into a soft, warm sled and let us guide you through one of America's great wildernesses. The vast, scenic Stillwater State Forest begins at our doorstep, on the western flank of world-famous Glacier National Park, just north of the winter resort of Whitefish, Montana in the magnificent Flathead Valley. You can ski any day. But not every day is a chance for a truly unique journey by dog sled. We'llcarve powder and catch air as we fly through the woods. There's a good chance you'll see the northern country's rarest wildlife or signs of-something you'll never see on the slopes. When we return, you can warm your toes by the fire in our cabin, sip hot cocoa, and munch on homemade cookies as we exchange "Tall Tails". Then you can move on to the alpine and Nordic skiing on The Big Mountain or don your snowshoes for backcountry travel beyond the slopes. When you return home, you can honestly tell your friends and family that this was:"The Highlight Of Your Vacation!" Be a part of the scenery... Some people like to look at the scenery - we like to be a part of it. So come join us for a uniquedog sledding adventure and a doggone good time.
