Omolola Dawodu, 36, of Baltimore, refused to comply when Deputy Karen LaRocca asked her to move her vehicle from the curb at the airport, according to an arrest report. The report says Dawodu approached LaRocca in a threatening manner, while yelling and cursing at her, forcing LaRocca to back up and call for assistance. The woman then became argumentative when deputies Tom Way and Alan Harris responded to the scene and also asked her to move her vehicle, according to the report. Way told her he would have to tow the vehicle, and she told him to "go ahead and tow it." However, when Way opened the front, passenger door to conduct an inventory of the car's contents, Dawodu pushed him and began cursing, the report states. Haeshu at 2:08 PM September 16, 2013 Resisting charge both with and without violence? Give me a break. Arrested for disobeying a police officer? There are very few orders that a police officer can give you that you have to obey. They are mostly centered around conducting their investigation or preventing injury. Any other requests, such as show me your ID can be lawfully ignored unless they can articulate reasonable suspicion to you (unless you are driving). Requests that you assist in their investigation of someone else is also illegal - like did you know/see/hear the person who just left here (however you cannot interfere by letting that person hide in your trunk, for example). In fact, the police will many times get your cooperation by lying to you and telling you they are giving you a lawful order assisting with their investigation, then arrest you for doing it. For example, they may ask you to go into a building to prove that a drug dealer does not know you, then arrest you for trying to buy drugs. This is perfectly legal in the state of Florida. Use common sense. Whenever and wherever you may be confronted by the police, you always tell them nothing except that you only communicate with them through your lawyer. Never resist when being arrested and never cooperate with any unlawful requests (and don't rely on the police to tell you what orders are lawful/unlawful - educate yourself).
