2016-17 Kindergarten Application packet full size
There’s something special about an ELMO kid. It’s something so deeply rooted that you can still see it decades later. At the core is a strong faith and personal character. It’s character that cannot be taught -- only molded over time. There’s a lasting curiosity and respect for others that spills over. And there’s a joy -- absolute joy -- for life and learning. Teachers love our children in a way that instills deep confidence and trust. These exceptional teachers, many of whom have been teaching with us for decades, respect our children and will not allow them to be any less than they are capable. We challenge our students academically, evidenced by the number of our graduates who have gone on to lead their class in high school and college, including valedictorians in recent years. We welcome you to the application process and hope that we can help you in the important process of exploring the gift of Christian education for your child. In a nurturing environment where students enjoy small classes of 12-18 -where no one can get lost and everyone is important -- students develop a passion for reading and learn to write and speak formally and creatively. At ELMO math is not memorized, it’s discovered. If you are looking for a school where your child will be challenged and prepared, molded and loved, with strong Christians focused on what is important, please call our Director, Jeannine Morgan at 805.962-3091 or email [email protected]. El Montecito School San Roque 3225 Calle Piñon • Santa Barbara, CA 93105 San Roque Being at ELMO inspires a deep love of learning about the world and our Creator. ELMO students think critically, reason logically, and communicate clearly while loving God and others wholeheartedly. Founded in 1958, El Montecito School provides academic Christian education for up to 160 children each year from preschool through sixth grade. Committed faculty, students and parents work together to create a warm, loving, family atmosphere where spiritual growth and moral character are as important as academic excellence. This is truly a place where “Character Meets Wisdom” as each child discovers and develops skills, potential and talent...sparking a life-long love of learning. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NEW ENROLLEES ABOUT VACCINATIONS Due to legislation signed June 30, 2015 by the Governor of the State of California, effective January 1, 2016 there is no longer any permission for immunization exemptions based on personal beliefs for children in child care and public and private schools.* We will be required to obtain official immunization record for each student before entry into our school and we are required to report the immunization status of students at various levels. But all newly enrolled students must meet the requirements of the new law. The only schooling options for non-immunized students* in the State of California will be in-home based private schools, independent study programs where no classroombased instruction is received or access to special education/related services specified in an individualized education program (IEP). Students enrolled in mid-year after January 1, 2016 to begin preschool or an elementary class will need to submit complete immunization records immediately and before attending any class in our school. Students wishing to attend the El Montecito School preschool or Kindergarten program for the 2016-17 school year will need to submit complete and physiciansigned immunization records for the child’s enrollment to be considered complete. The child will not be able to attend school on the first (or any) day if immunization records are not complete and on file in the school office. For information and questions about the Immunization requirements for children in child care or grades K-12 go to: www.shotsforschool.org * Students already enrolled with a personal beliefs exemption that meets the preJanuary 2016 requirements of documentation will be allowed continuous enrollment in El Montecito School until they either graduate from 6th grade, transfer to another elementary school or enroll in Kindergarten.
