It can and will match our students with career interests and passions as well as provide daily interventions to those that struggle in math and/or LA. It is with great pleasure that we offer this opportunity to our students once again. Our student council and PTSO strongly encouraged the change as we need to engage our learners in every avenue. Math is included because we dilated the original picture by about a scale of 4 onto the new paper. Science is included because we had to label and paint the different colors in our faces, hair, backgrounds, and shirts. Language Arts was included because we wrote a narrative, and the painting goes with the story each person wrote. The first thing we did was make our grid on the bigger paper 2 in X 2 in. Next we sketched out our face, hair, and shirt from a photo Mrs. Shannon took of us, and Mrs. Phillips ran through a program to create contour lines based on shading of the photo. We then labeled the colors on our faces 1 through 6. Finally we painted them, and we were done!” January 2015 Locust Grove Middle School Newsletter Page 6 A note from Coach Mayo “8th grader, Summer McCullough, was chosen by the Atlanta Cheer Magazine as a “No Bully” representative. This is a tremendous honor as Summer was chosen out of hundreds of cheerleaders in the metro area. I am so proud of her as she is a model student, talented cheerleader, and a well-rounded, remarkable young lady. I have had the pleasure of coaching her for 2 years and teaching her this year. I am beyond thrilled to be able to share this with everyone at LGMS.” You can look at the entire article at www.atlantacheer.com.
