EAB Tree Replacement Program
M
any of the parkway trees have fallen victim to the Emerald Ash Borer
(EAB). Over the summer Public Works will be removing infected parkway
trees. If you lose (or have lost) your parkway tree due to EAB, the Village
will offer a tree replacement program that will become available in August. Tree
planting is typically done in the fall.

New Trustees Welcomed
Y
ou elected two new
Trustees in April,
Kevin Wallace and
Linette Benes. They were
both on the Plan Commission and work very hard
for you. Welcome to both
of them and thank you for
serving your community.
A BIG thank you to the

especially newly-elected

spear-heading BeachFest

goes into this event and
these people are all
volunteers. Any profits
from BeachFest will be
used by the Foundation to
sponsor the Children’s
Summer Concert Series,
help purchase needed
items and improvements
for the Center, help to
promote the Center, etc.
High heat and storms are
common this time of year.

of Public Works
Free Mulch Available
F
ree mulch is available to Round Lake Beach
residents at the Public Works Facility located
at 911 Lotus Drive. Mulch is generated from
tree trimming and removal. Residents are invited to
bring their own shovel and containers. Mulch is
available at any time - no appointment is necessary. Clothing and Textiles
Clothing and textiles may be dropped off at any time
at the Public Works Facility. Please put items in the
box on the eastside of the driveway at 911 Lotus Dr.
Yard Waste/Leaf Pickup
Yard Waste stickers can be purchased for $2.60 each
at the Round Lake Beach Village Hall (1937
Municipal Way), Jewel Food Store (900 E. Rollins
Road) and Ace Hardware (659 Railroad Avenue).
You may dispose of leaves and other yard waste in
brown paper yard waste bags or in 32-gallon cans
marked yard waste with yard waste stickers on
them. Residents may put out six bags or six
32-gallon cans per week. If you already subscribe to
the yard waste program, you do not need a yard
waste sticker. Maximum weight per bag or can
should be less than 50 pounds. Branches must be
bundled and tied with string or twine and have a
yard waste sticker on them. Individual branches and
limbs may be no thicker than 2 inches in diameter.
The Village picks up tree limbs/debris only after a
storm.
Summer Maintenance Reminders
I
n the summertime residents spend more time
outdoors. That’s why it is important to maintain
your property. Grass should be cut regularly and
kept weed free. This helps prevent ticks as they like to
lurk in the tall weeds.
Garbage cans may be at the front curb/ditch line no
more than 24 hours before and/or after scheduled
pickup day. They should be kept in the rear of your
yard after pickup.
Keeping your property maintained helps improve
property values in your neighborhood to the benefit of
everyone.
Sun, Summer and Mosquitoes
A
lmost 100 acres will be treated by hand,
backpack and helicopter within the Village this
summer to reduce nuisance mosquito
populations and prevent the spread of West Nile Virus.
Over 2,000 street side catch basins will be treated by
technicians on bicycles in June/July to help reduce
mosquito breeding in the underground water systems.
Four adult mosquito control treatments will be
performed during the season to kill adult mosquitoes.
These treatments are performed based on adult
mosquito surveillance in the area and are not
prescheduled. If you would like to be notified prior to
spraying, please contact the Mosquito Hotline at (800)
942-2555 and asked to be placed on the “Prior
Notification” list for the Village.
Homeowners are encouraged to report stagnant water
(3 days or more) on their property to the Mosquito
Hotline. Empty water from flower pots, kiddie
swimming pools, pet food/water dishes, birdbaths and
swimming pool covers at least once or twice a week.
