as the ‘Catfish Capital’, is a small town

that small town feeling, in a Norman
Rockwell painting kind of way. We also have state of the art medical facilities,
state recognized school system, and we have a 17,000 sq ft library. Some
of the finest, most friendly folks you will ever meet live right here!!
There is so much to do if you wish... boating,
fishing, skiing, swimming, canoeing, sailing,
and even an abundance of wild life for the
avid outdoorsman. If you want to take it easy
this can be the place for you also. Sit and
watch the sun rise & set over the beautiful
Tennessee River. For the golf enthusiast,

walking trails, horse riding facilities, community colleges, and technical schools
all within a 50 mile radius of Savannah.
Hardin County is not only known for its
natural beauty & rich history, but also for
the ease & security of a small town with

areas. If this sounds like the place for you and your family we will be glad to

Nearby Attractions Include:
Cherry Mansion
The historic Cherry Mansion, circa 1830, is
situated on a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River and is the oldest structure in the
quaint river town of Savannah, Tennessee.
During the weeks preceding and following
the Battle of Shiloh, the home was used as
headquarters by several Union generals
including Ulysses S. Grant. Generals C. F. Smith and W. H. L. Wallace died
in the home during this period. Also, the annual Sunset Symphony performance is held on the beautiful lawn of the home at sunset.
Tennessee River Museum
From dinosaurs to the TVA, history in the lower Tennessee River Valley is
both unique and fascinating! Its
story awaits your discovery at
Hardin County’s “Tennessee River
Museum”. Here, exhibits chronicle
prehistoric times, life of the Mississippian mound builders, the tragic
story of the Trail of Tears, the Civil
War on the River, the Golden Age
of Steamboats, and the Tennessee
River today. Among the many exhibits and objects displayed is the famed Shiloh Effigy Pipe, found at the Shiloh
Indian Mounds Site in 1898. This one of a kind artifact is an example of the
trade among the prehistoric peoples of the Tennessee & Mississippi Rivers.
Arts Activities
The Dreamweavers of West Tennessee produce several performances each
year which are held at the Savannah Theater. Several music festivals are
held in Hardin County including the Savannah Bluegrass Festival each July
4th weekend. There are many other arts activities that take place throughout
the year such as musical performances, art displays, and arts & craft shows.

Shiloh National Military Park
Shiloh National Military Park was established in 1894 to preserve the scene
of the first major battle in the Western theater of the Civil War. The two-day
battle, April 6th & 7th of 1862, involved about 65,000 Union and 44,000 Confederate troops. The battlefield contains about 4,000 acres at Shiloh and an
interpretive center at Corinth, Mississippi. The park has within its boundaries
the Shiloh National Cemetery along with the well preserved prehistoric Indian
mounds that are listed as a historic landmark. The Shiloh battlefield is located
in Hardin County, Tennessee, on the west bank of the Tennessee River nine
miles southwest of Savannah, Tennessee, with an
additional park unit located in the city of Corinth,
Mississippi, twenty-three miles southwest of Shiloh.
The park is open daily and rangers provide talks,
tours, and demonstrations to provide a more in
depth understanding of the battle and its place in
American history.
Shiloh Indian Mounds - National Historic Landmark
About 800 years ago, a town occupied the
high Tennessee River Bluff at the eastern
edge of the Shiloh Plateau. Archaeologists
refer to the society centered at Shiloh as a
‘chiefdom’. On a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, six platform mounds surrounded
by over three dozen individual house mounds
and encircling palisade make up the finest
surviving Mississippian Mound builder village
in the Tennessee Valley. Shiloh is one of the very few places in the eastern
United States where remains of prehistoric houses are still visible on the
ground’s surface. This prehistoric culture, which reached the height of its influence around 1200 AD, is today interpreted at the Tennessee River Museum.
Pickwick Landing State Park-where paradise begins...
Come and join the fun! Located on the beautiful Tennessee River, just downstream from the convergence of the Tennessee/Alabama/Mississippi state
lines, and 12 miles south of Savannah, TN, Pickwick
Landing State Park provides a majestic view of Pickwick Lake. 1,400 acres of wooded park land offers
visitors a quiet retreat where fishing, boating, hiking,
swimming or just plain relaxing can take away stress.
Did I mention that Pickwick Landing State Park is host
to the annual Darryl Worley
Tennessee River Run, Pickwick Challenge “Racin’ on the River” Offshore and
Powerboat Races & Festival, the National Catfish
Derby World Championship of Catfishing, the Fourth
of July Fireworks display, and much more!
