8. Mounting of CPS system
The electronics and battery housings are to be set on top of each other at the installation site and they are to
be connected to each other with the enclosed M8 screws. After mounting is complete, the system has to be
fixed to the wall. It is necessary to leave a clearing between the housing and the wall for the sake of
ventilation.
Three glands (with battery sets connected in parallel five) have to be mounted for battery cables and
temperature measuring sensor (if delivered) between the electronics and the battery compartment. If the
rd
temperature measuring sensor is not included, the 3 hole has to be covered with a blind plug (enclosed in
the package).
9. Mounting of the batteries
Please check that the delivered batteries, pole connectors and battery cables are complete, and whether
there are any mechanic damages. Remove the battery fuses F1 and F2 before connecting the batteries.
Put the batteries into place according to the below shown figure. Connect the pole connectors. Safety caps
are to be put on the poles. More information regarding maintenance and care of the maintenance free
batteries can be found on the enclosed battery instruction sheet.
The maintenance recommendations for batteries are an important part of the operation manual and have to
be taken care of. Safety regulations regarding high dc-voltages must also be taken into consideration.
The fuses F1 and F2 must be inserted only after the installation of the whole CPS system is complete. (see 11)

12.1.
BUS-interface module - BIF
The BUS interface (BIF) is the connecting point between the system (CPS) and the external BUS fitted units
as, for example, LSA 8.1, RIF 5, DPÜ-B, MTB-B, MTB-D and BUS-sub-stations for CPS 220. The BIF module
shields the system from external influences on the BUS cable.
Connection
The BUS cables are connected via the +24V, ⊥, +BUS terminals. The maximum length of the cables to the
external modules is 1500m for 1,5 mm².
Similarly, attention has to be paid to the connection of the BUS cables to the different units, i.e polaritychanges within the bus-line are not allowed.
How to address the BUS-fitted units
The relative address has to be set as follows at the unit's address switch:
LSA 8.1 - max. 3 pcs.

Staircase light switch connection – TLS
Both standard interior and emergency lighting luminaires can be controlled via the TLS. An integrated
timer allows to activate the lights for any time between 1 - 15 min.
An internal converter in the TLS module supplies the glow lamps in the lighting push-buttons with
power. Max. 25 illuminated push-buttons, each with 0,8 mA glow lamps or 13 push-buttons with 1,5 mA
glow lamps can be connected to T+ and T-. The length of the cable to the push-buttons is max 500m.
For the power supply of the mains luminaires each TLS-module has a volt-free contact (terminals 29 and
30) with a maximum switching load of 5A at 230V.
The emergency lighting luminaires are supplied via the change-over devices of the CPS system.

5 channel staircase light switch connection - TLS 5
Both standard interior and emergency lighting luminaires can be controlled via the TLS. An integrated
timer allows to activate the lights for any time between 1 - 15 min.
Each of the 5 individual channels have terminals for the cables to the push-buttons and for the
corresponding volt -free contacts. An internal converter in the TLS module supplies the glow lamps in
the lighting pus-buttons with power. Max. 20 illuminated push-buttons, each with 0,8 mA glow lamps or
10 push-buttons with 1,5 mA glow lamps can be connected to ( 1/1 ....5/5 ). The length of the cable to
the push-buttons is max 500m.
For the power supply of the mains luminaires each TLS-module has a volt-free contact with a maximum
switching load of 3A at 230V.
The emergency lighting luminaries are supplied via the change-over devices of the CPS system.

3-phase-monitor - DPÜ
In order to supervise the mains power supply the DPÜ can be installed directly in the local power subdistribution boards. If a phase fails the DPÜ will interrupt the 24V-monitoring-circuit. This contact is wired
to SL+/SL- on the terminal section X2 (remove wire link). If several local circuit fuses or sub-distribution
boards are supervised, the DPÜs have to be connected in series.

16. Further modules for CPS 220 systems
16.1.
Continuous light circuit modules - DSM/L – DSM/U
DSM modules can be installed in order to switch mains luminaires and emergency luminaires together.
DSM-U modules are to be installed in the local distribution boards, DSM-L modules are to be installed in
luminaires that are already present.
The connection of the DSM modules to the CPS 220 system has to be made as shown in the drawing
below.
When mains is present on terminals LS and NS, the connected emergency luminaires (terminals 0+/0-) are
turned off.
Actuating the switch contact turn all mains and emergency luminaires on. If the local mains sub.distribution board fails, will also cause the connected emergency staircase luminaires to be turned on, in
this case the DSM module has a phase monitor function.
The circuits of the CPS system with DSM modules have to be programmed as maintained light, see
paragraphs 12.8.1.1 / 12.8.2.1 / 12.8.3.
If the CPS system switches over to emergency light operation, all connected emergency luminaires will be
supplied from the batteries, no matter of the type of switching mode.
