Sid Griffin, The Trick Is To Breathe
The Trick Is To Breathe is the first solo album from ex-Long Ryder Sid Griffin in a decade. Known as a founder of
today’s Americana/Alt-Country genre for his groundbreaking work with the Long Ryders then (and the Coal
Porters since), Sid Griffin has never been far from the cutting edge. Few who could honestly claim to be a Godfather
to the current roots music scene have made their mark in so many ways; bandleader, songwriter, instrumentalist,
author of four books and broadcaster. Yet it took a decade for this album to happen. “I was waiting for the right
combination of songs and the right place to record,” says Griffin. Twelve tracks featuring ten new Sid originals, one
cover song and a spoken word poem(!) combine to equal what Sid describes as “the best album of my long career”.

Omar Kent Dykes gathered a group of his best friends to release a cover album of their favorite tracks by some
of their favorite blues greats. Many of the same talented artists appeared with Omar on his previous release, On
the Jimmy Reed Highway. Gathering to record Big Town Playboy are guests Jimmie Vaughan, James Cotton, Lazy
Lester, Gary Clark, Jr., Lou Ann Barton, Derek O’Brien, Wes Starr, and Ronnie James. This release includes songs
written by Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, and Jimmy McCracklin. Smoking guitar by Jimmie Vaughan and
Omar combined with blazing harmonica by James Cotton and Lazy Lester make this release one of Omar’s most
memorable projects. Gary Clark, Jr. played guitar and harmonica on King Bee, and Lou Ann Barton sang duets with
Omar on Think and Close Together.

Caspar Babypants, RISE AND SHINE!
RISE AND SHINE! is the 8th album by Seattle kids entertainer Caspar Babypants. Caspar is also known as Chris
Ballew from the rock and roll band the Presidents of the United States of America. The album spans from up
tempo tunes to sleepy time ditties over the course of 19 tracks. Guests on the CD include Rachel Flotard (Visqueen)
and Jen Wood both on vocals. Caspar continues to draw heavily from traditional folk and roots sources to update
some classic songs for families (Hush Little Baby, Rock A Bye Baby, The Littlest Worm, Silly Bird, John Mousey, Rig
A Jig Jig) with new lyrics and musical angles that keep the originals intact. The artwork is once again brilliantly

Bill Wence, Songs That Make Me Think About You
Bill Wence grew up in Salinas, California in the 50s and started playing piano in his early teens, influenced by early
Rock and Country acts. He met Gene Vincent and Jerry Lee Lewis at 15 and started playing piano with Bobby
Bare at 16. He played music from Los Angeles to Anchorage in the 60s, eventually working in Radio and TV for the
Midnight Sun Broadcasting Company in 67, bringing Charlie Rich, Ernest Tubb, Bobby Bare and other acts to Juneau
and promoting their shows. Moving to Nashville in the early 70s, he had over a dozen Billboard singles on the
Country charts in the late 70s/early 80s as an artist and a writer. Bill toured with Tom T. Hall, Bobby Bare, Slim
Whitman and others playing piano for thousands of shows and in 1980 started Bill Wence Promotions, working
with radio promoting Wanda Jackson, Johnny Rivers, Collin Raye, Jerry Jeff Walker, and a host of other acts for the
past 30 years. He’s still works selected dates with Wanda Jackson and Bobby Bare.

Just outside of Flori-bama, there is an under-disclosed building frequented by a handful of outlaws and in-laws, a
place that questions don’t get answered and dreams don’t usually come true, where passers-thru can find likeminded chartless characters to intermingle with; this place is known as De Oro. One-such evening, Jason Feathers
(a.k.a. Creflo), a red-chested god-bassed Southern rapper in a fancy white suit, found himself in an after-barimpromptu-musical-round-up. There, he tangled with a group of clad cronies that consisted of Toothpick,

The sound of Teach Me Equals originates with wooden instruments and swells from that natural place to haunting,
cataclysmic refractions of pop music with ease. Erin Murphy (guitar, violin, vocals) and Greg Bortnichak (cello,
sequencing, vocals) share an affinity for writing along the edges and exploring the limitations of their instruments.
Recorded to analog tape and mixed/mastered by Joel Nanos (Red Key, Mumford and Sons), the album inhabits

“The organ trio format with the Hammond B3, guitar and drums has always been interesting to me, and some of
my favorite guitar players have recordings with that instrumentation. Every time I had a chance to see an organ
trio live it made me wonder how great it would feel to play in that context. In January of 2012, I got an email from
Vanessa Rodrigues recommended by Randy Brecker as a Hammond B3 player. We soon played together for a
couple hours and I knew right away we were ready to put a trio together with Rafael Barata. We booked our first
show in Rio in May. The recording of that night got the attention of Adventure Music, and since then, we’ve
recorded a few other shows and in the studio. We’ve decided to release those recordings together as a 2-CD set.
One studio CD and one live CD, with tracks from different shows, including a couple from our very first gig.”
