Estimada nueva mamá:
Después de meses de expectativa, su bebé finalmente está aquí. Ya
sea que su bebé esté en su habitación con usted, en la Sala para Bebés
de Cuidado Progresivo (Progressive Care Nursery - PCN), o en la
Unidad de Cuidado Intensivo Neonatal (NICU), este es el momento
cuando usted aprende cómo alimentar y cuidar al nuevo miembro de su
familia.
Nuestras pacientes nos dijeron que les gusta tener toda su información
en un solo lugar, de manera que hemos creado este folleto para que
usted lea mientras esté aquí y en la casa. “¿Cómo sabré si mi bebé está
recibiendo lo suficiente para alimentarse?” “¿Cuándo debería llamar al
médico?” “Mis piernas éstán hinchadas - ¿es esto normal?” Encontrará
las respuestas a éstas y muchas más preguntas dentro de este folleto.
Le pedimos que lea estas tres publicaciones antes de que se le dé de
alta del hospital:
• Antes de que usted salga del hospital, en las páginas 1 a 4.
• Los folletos sobre la seguridad de los asientos infantiles para
automóvil, páginas 73 a 76, si se da de alta a su bebé con usted.
• El formulario de Registro de Nacimientos del Estado de
Washington, el cual tiene que llenar y devolverlo a su enfermera
antes de que salga del hospital. Puede encontrar este formulario en
el bolsillo de este folleto.
Nuestro personal está aquí para cuidarle a medida que se recupera de
su parto y toma los primeros pasos para convertirse en una madre. Por
favor siéntase libre de hacernos preguntas.

Dear New Parent,
After months of anticipation, your baby is finally here. Whether
your baby is in the room with you, in the Progressive Care
Nursery (PCN), or in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU),
this is the time when you learn how to feed and care for your new
family member.
Our patients have told us that they like to have all of their
information in one place, so we have created this booklet for you
to read while you are here and at home. “How do I know if my
baby is getting enough to eat?” “When should I call the doctor?”
“My legs are swollen – is this normal?” You will find answers to
these and many more questions inside this booklet.
We ask that you read these three items before your discharge
from the hospital:
• Before You Leave the Hospital, pages 1 through 4.
• The handouts on car seat safety, pages 73 through 76, if your
baby is discharged with you.
• The Washington State Birth Filing form, which needs to be
filled out and returned to your nurse before you leave the
hospital. You can find this form in the pocket in this booklet.
Our staff is here to care for you as you recover from your birth
and take those first steps in becoming a parent. Please feel free to
ask us questions.
This patient education booklet was developed and written by
health care providers, patients, and their families. We are
committed to working with patients and families to make their
best choices about health. If you have comments or suggestions
about this booklet, please share them with your caregivers.

concerns 24 hours a day.
Breastfeeding:
Our Lactation Team is
available from 9 a.m. to
9 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and from 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. on weekends and
holidays. If you call at other
times, your call will be
returned the next day. If your
concern is urgent, call your
pediatric provider.
