Commodore’s Report: By Cal Parent
Hello to my fellow Corinthians. Summer is racing by, but as you know we continue to keep
rather busy. Our trip to Bimini was a great success. The seas were flat. The pontoon ferry
boat and the dilapidated school bus ride to the local restaurant was a trip in itself. To top it
all off, we were treated to cocktails on the Coppola’s new boat. Thank you so much Carl &
Marlene. That’s not all, we also got to use Carl’s new fishing gear and as usual, Neal
Mitchell claims he caught the biggest fish!
To our Fleet Captain Al Tupek— thank you from all of us for another well-planned and
exciting boat trip. To Neal Mitchell—you are the man! Thank you so much, Neal, for all your work to make
the Bimini Trip one of the best.
Once again, thank you to our Board of Governors for carrying on the day-to-day affairs of our Club in my
absence. Vice Commodore Maureen Jacobson and Special Activities Chairperson Millie Moyer have
prepared many activities through the summer months. I will return in October and as you know, that will be
a very busy time. See you then! Have a wonderful summer, stay healthy, and make every day,
“Another day in Paradise”.
Fleet Captain’s Report: By Al Tupek
A big thanks to Neal Mitchell for arranging a great trip to Bimini. Nine boats and 25
participants had a wonderful time on the island. Thanks also to the Coppolas for hosting a
cocktail party and a fishing trip.
While the July trip to Coconut Grove
fizzled, there’s been a lot of interest in the
bus/limo trip to Hammock Beach Resort
in Palm Coast, September 18-20. The
resort has a fabulous golf course, tennis
courts, spa, a lazy river pool, and it’s on the beach. The
daily room rate is $180 and the transportation is
expected to be $100 round trip or less depending on
number of participants. The last cruise of the season will
be to Soverel Harbour in Palm Beach Gardens,
October 9-11.
Visit our website (www.lpyccorinthians.com) for more information on our cruises.
Rear Commodore’s Report: By Leslie Baron
Hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful summer, whether you are here in Florida or have
settled into your summer home elsewhere. Although things may be quiet at the club this
time of year, we are busy planning the October Annual Membership Event. Laura Burton
and Soraia Berger are putting together a “jolly good” evening with the theme being British
Invasion. We will dance the night away to a Beatles tribute band. So get out your Union
Jack or Beatles attire and come prepared for a really fun night. The date is Friday,
October 16th. Cocktails and dinner and dancing will immediately follow the Membership
Meeting. More details to follow but its not too early to reserve your dining room table.

Blue Gavel Report: By President & P/C Hal Bishop
Following the picnic on June 9th at the home of P/C Rob and Joan Jones, it’s been a quiet
summer for the Blue Gavel Chapter. We had a good turnout for our lunch meeting on July 8
at the Club.
Looking ahead, there will be no meeting in August as the Club is closed but we plan to visit
the Lauderdale Y.C.’s Lobster Feast on Saturday, August 29th. Our September meeting will
be at the Club on Wednesday, September 9th and the October meeting on the 14th.
The mission of the International Order of the Blue Gavel
(IOBG) is to recognize Past Commodores of the international
yachting community and unite them to promote the highest
ideals of yachting and preserve their traditions. All Past
Commodores of any recognized yacht club are invited to join
