January 20th to 27th, 2015
Day 1: Tuesday, January 20th 2015 - San Jose
Travel Day – please make your own way to Airport hotel 5 minutes from San Jose International Airport

Wednesday 21st.
Day 2: Wednesday, January 21st 2015 – Tilajari Resort
After a full breakfast at your hotel tour briefing in hotel lobby at 8:30am
Transfer to Tilajari Resort - A great resort hotel located in San Carlos, a place privileged with
tropical rainforest and natural rich landscape, an Arenal Volcano and lake, rivers, hot springs,
adventure and relaxation activities.
On route to the resort visit a coffee plantation and guided tour to the Poas Volcano. Poás is
one of Costa Rica´s most prominent, active volcanoes and one of its most frequently visited. It
contains a green acid crater lake and during some of its frequent phreatic eruptions, water from
the lake is ejected like a geyser.
Day 3: Thursday, January 22nd 2015 – Tilajari Resort
Morning guided tour to Monte Verde National Park.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve was established in 1972 and has been managed by the
CCT (Tropical Science Center). The Monteverde reserve was created thanks to the influence of
the Quaker community that settled in Monteverde in the decade of the 50´s. In order for them
to preserve the natural springs as their water source they kept untouched the surrounding
forest. Years past and other organizations such as the Monteverde Conservation League started
to add land to the already preserved forest with the Children's Eternal Rain forest program,
which involves children from all around the world raising/donating money to buy and protect
more land.
A visit to the beautiful Cloud Forrest which spans six distinct ecological zones and helps to
protect birds and butterflies, mammals, insects, and thousands of species of plants. In the
afternoon explore this internationally recognized environment by canopy tour & zip line.
Day 4: Friday, January 23rd 2015 - Tilajari Resort
Horse Breeders visit
Livestock Jocha is completely devoted to the Spanish horse. Livestock Jocha has received
important awards throughout its existence, such as Best Breeder Exhibitor of Costa Rica in the
Bonanza Fair 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 ... as well as other prizes awarded in this
same fair and in previous years, as movements Champion, Champion of functionality, Junior
Champion and first place on five charges, among other prizes awarded.
Beef Ranch Visits
Livestock Pedregal born in 1997 out of the need to establish an elite herd of Brahman gray and
red, they imported a total of 170 cows from the best farms in the United States.
Livestock Pedregal breeding program aims to estimate genetic parameters of growth involved of
EPD's (It would be expected that parents can transmit genetically to offspring, this value can
expressed in Kg) and thus select animals with positive breeding values for use in pure and
commercial herds and contribute to the improvement of productivity. Get an insight into their
breeding program and why it is so successful.
Day 5: Friday, January 24th 2015
Transfer to Best Western Jaco Beach All Inclusive Resort
Playa Jaco is the closest beach to San Jose, the Central Valley and is one of the most visited
coastal destinations in Costa Rica. The beach is a 2.5 mile (4 km) strip which offers world
renowned surfing and more. There are an abundance of surf shops, hotels, restaurants and
activities to be enjoyed.
Day 6: Saturday, January 25th 2015
Free day at Best Western Jaco Beach All Inclusive Resort: Catch great waves surfing right in front of
the hotel or venturing to nearby beaches like Hermosa, which is only 2 miles away.
The tour desk can also help you set up kayaking trips, sport fishing cruises, horseback riding
journeys, golf games, ATV adventures, canopy or white-water rafting tours, amongst many
other activities!
Additional Tour Idea - Tortuga Island Cruise
The catamaran Manta Raya is equipped with two fresh water deck pools and two giant
hammocks perfect for sunbathing on her expansive forward deck. On the return trip to
Puntarenas, the oldest port and heart of commercial fishing in Costa Rica, our passengers have
the opportunity to see different islands: the largest bird sanctuary in Central America for the
Brown Pelican, the Magnificent Frigatebird and Brown Booby, the old prison of San Lucas,
Negritos Biological Reserve plus islands that are Indigenous grave sites.
What this Tour Includes : Bi-lingual Guide, air-conditioned bus, transportation to and from San
Jose, Jaco or Manuel Antonio, snorkeling, "banana boat" rides, light morning snack, BBQ lunch

Day 7: Sunday, January 26th 2015
Morning at leisure at the resort – 1pm check out and load coach for transfer back to San Jose.

Day 8: Monday, January 27th 2015
Transfer provided back to the airport for your international flight home to Canada

Note regarding flights:
Due to many YFF members being spread out across Canada we cannot secure group flights as
we need a minimum of 10 passengers flying out of the same gateway. We have decided that
flights can be booked on your own or requested and booked through Leader Tours on an
individual basis.
The opportunity to use points and to get the best online rate you can via the web is available
when booking flights with this tour. If we do get enough people wanting flights from the same
gateway, we will go after group flight arrangements on your behalf.
When looking at flight please search United Airlines, Air Canada, and Delta for the best rates
and schedule, please make sure your layover is not too long in the US as it makes for a long
flight.
Please keep in mind; most flights to Costa Rica go through a US gateway, Houston, Dallas Fort
Worth or Denver etc.
