Co-op Layer Feeds - Our CO-OP
® POULTRY Housing · Poultry can tolerate both cold and hot environmental conditions, as long as they have protection from the elements. In the winter, this means an area that is clean, dry, and free of drafts. In the summer, this area needs to be clean and well-ventilated. Replace litter (pine shavings or sawdust) as needed to maintain a clean, dry area. · Allow an area of approximately 4 ft.2 per adult bird. · Provide adequate nesting boxes (1 box per 4-5 hens) and roosting perch space for all birds (6”-8” per bird.) · Access to green grass (which contains natural pigments) will enhance yolk color. Health · Coccidiosis is one of the most common poultry diseases. Symptoms include diarrhea, unthriftiness, and mortality. Medicated feeds are available to help prevent outbreaks. · Good sanitation will help prevent parasite issues. For additional information about specific feeds or questions regarding poultry management, visit your Co-op feed representative. *ALL PRODUCTS COME IN 50-LB. BAGS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. POULTRY FEEDS Feeding · Provide clean, fresh water at all times. · Select a feed that is appropriate for the age or production stage of the bird and follow its recommended feeding directions. · Using a feeder can reduce feed waste (versus feeding on the ground). Some birds may scratch feed out of feeder. Raising feeder height to approximately bird-head height can reduce this behavior, but be sure all birds can reach feed. · Allow 3 linear inches of feeder space per bird.
